Started April '99, quit about two weeks before the release of Luclin. Played again for about a month during 2003, but didn't enjoy it at all and stopped logging in. Currently have no desire to play any mmorpg's or whatever they're called these days.

Got tired of Marbus and Grimdari talking about the game at work - I joined July 20 1999.

Sold my account when I got married - bought it back after I figured it would be a dis\traction from marriage -

farted around with Wow And now fully addicted again to EQII.

Havent played with much regularity since Fiends kerplunked but did join Kratos as Ironfoot for a time... I may be back soon guys.

Oh how i miss those early days when everything was so new... "Oh my god that goblin is red!" and following roads to other zones... what a newb.

by Tegellan
Tegellan was born in september '00, played him for about two years, then retired him and swapped to my shadowknight Sethos on Kane Bayle. Played him for another year or so and then retired for good. When Kane Bayle was merged I moved him to Veeshan on the free movelog though, so he now happily resides in Neriak on Veeshan.

Balammer players Tegellan these days, has for a few years.

Don't think I will ever see a game where i meet so many different people as I did in EQ, it was one of a kind in a lot of ways.

Started -99, april. The first charcater was a barb/shm named Molkar and I was completely lost in Everfrost for a month or so. Then Wonko Wenusberg was created and I joined up with the Team Bard Sweden and became the best "prancer" on Veeshan!

Started as a dwarven paladin named Cathar on release. Got frustrated and quit. Came back as an iksar warrior named Sabek, and eventually an iksar bst named Satrulis.

Advanced Iksar Technology FTW!

Similar to Seebs, I watched Nos and a couple of others playing and bought the game end of Oct 99. Started a monk, didn't care for that. Played around with a couple of others and started Neost in Dec '99.

Paladins4life!

Now playing a dwarven Paladin in eq2.

Still play nearly every day and preparing to buy the newest expansion in September.

I currently hold the dubious distinction of having the greatest number of AA points of any cleric on the server at 1,468

edit- I originally put in Jan '99 but I was off by a year :)

Drorgin, the first incarnation, was created on a friends account sometime in may of '99. RealDrolgin(tm) had a birthday sometime around august 1st I think? Happily retired and quaffing ale and boffing whores somewhere in Kaladim now, telling inspirational stories to the young'uns about his days as a dragonslayer (and -dancer).

March of '99. One character, no alts. I started in a very "thrown together" guild, then moved on to a family guild, and finally a raiding guild. I did pretty much everything I could on my own when it was possible. I played until February of '05. I think I had 800 some odd AAs by that point.

I'm not sure I'll ever love a game as much as EQ. It was truely a unique experiance and it's kinda cool knowing I was a pioneer in the MMORPG market.

Started in May or June of 99, created Aanadil in September of 99. Helped form Dark Dynasty shortly after that with Minin and Utild and Macanus and a few others who I can't remember... was in the process of joining OOK when they disbanded then joined The Corps till I quit playing sometime in late 01-early 02. Haven't looked back yet heh

Rolled a necro in August 1999, and played almost every class up to level 10 before settling on Niffoni in early October.

Original toon was started late May 99 on my roommates account.

Aneron was incarnated July 30th 99 when I finally got my own account. At that time I was time sharing one comp with two roommates to get my "fix".

I still play when I have the time, but that has been coming increasingly little as of late.

by Midgen
Midgen (ELF/RNG) was born on Sept 19, 1999 on Veeshan. I played him exclusively till I got burned out with the game during Luclin and PoP.

I rolled some alts and PL'ed them for a while. Kohda (VAH/BST) was the only one that ever amounted to anything. Also had a cleric named Deynn and enchanter whose name escapes me at the moment.

I started a mage, monk, wizard, then finally shaman. Dont think I made Asheran until around October of 99 or so, but I played from a week after release. Good times, I got mad and deleted my mage at lvl 7 because I lost my corpse with all of my cash and level 8 spells in ECommons.

by Ogbar
It only took 6 months, but I finally followed my Quake buddies into this Everquest thing in December of '99.

Ogbar was my first character in game: he was born on December 24th, 1999. He joined their guild, Crimson Guard, which we all know eventually merged with Obsidian Overlords to become Obsidian Guard.

Started sputtering out of the game a couple of years later: my wife's illness made it hard to raid, group all night, etc. Bounced around between Veeshan, Firiona Vie and Dark Age of Chamelot until around February 2003. Somewhere in that span I finally dropped from OG and remained homeless until I joined "the Fluff", a move that made the last days in game almost as fun as the first days in game. :) Was proud to represent <Fluffy Bunnies> at the Dallas Fan Faire in February '02.

When the Gaharis server (DAoC) opened up in early '03, I was there mostly full time. Have been basically playing City of Heroes full time since beta (March 2004). Somewhere in that span, I gave EQ2 a serious try: though it was better for me than EQ, and though the Fluff was there, I still didn't like it as well as CoH. I may try it again some day, though.

Cancelled EQ account(s): Summer 2005

Started in late 99 and acutally purchased my own account in 00. One thing I'll never forget about starting EQ. Since I wasn't around computers much at all I couldn't type for the life of me. Shortly after starting I had it down though. So, without EQ I probably still couldn't type to this day. Thank you Everquest!

It took 3 days to find and to get activated so I started March 20th 1999.

On that afternoon, Veeshan was the least crowded server. ( of 8? )

I recall the log-in monkey becoming my best friend. Go Go Cerfnet!!

by Funkmasterr
I think I started about a month after release.. I actually did not have my own computer and bought one solely so that I could play EQ.

A rl friend and I started on a server (not sure which) for about a day. Then my cousin convinced me to move to veeshan where he was. He started a small guild called either "The Fountainhead".. I actually think someone that posts on this board was in the guild.. I cannot remember who. Anyhow, I played my druid Jofin to like level 20 and decided I did not like it.

Then I started Morbiden, my necro and played him to like 45, at which point I finally figured out that they were useless, and I started my bard Funkmasterr.. (I think in like Feb of 2000). I played my bard hardcore off and on for a long time.. I finally quit for good just before the expansion after Gates of Discord.

I was actually going to start again on the progression server but it has been too much of a hassle to get my account back, so I gave up for now.. I may make the effort to call sony though one of these days.

I rolled my first char in Sept '99 and Archeiron was born in Nov '99. I took two 6 mo. breaks to relocate for work and finally quit towards the end of PoP.

I rolled a WoW char for beta/release, played through last year, and then real life came knocking on my door demanding that the computer games gtfo.

Phugg Innay .. started early quit after San Fran Fan Fair (Plains expansion)

Started a few weeks after release ... thanx to the asshats at work. Played very hardcore as a bard that was started for me. I had NO clue on what the game was so I said Phugg it ... I'll try. PLayed WAY too much for 4 years straight. At one point my son went to his moms for Thanksgiving weekend , I played from 8pm Wed night until sometime Sat am NONstop.
Played Only my Bard, since I thought that all other chars would suck after being so damn busy. On a sidenote , it wasnt always ME behind the keys . I had a nieghbor who played him a lot when I was working or too tired, he would watch my son on weekends when I was working and play my account.

R.I.P. Eddie

He passed away about a year and half ago from Addisons Disease.

I too would have ZERO typing skilz if it werent for EQ. Try playinmg a Bard and typing at the same , IMPOSSIBLE to keep 3 twists going and be a chatterbox.

there were a couple coworkers that never stopped talking about EQ. eventually i started going to the EQ sites reading up on the different races and classes and decided i wanted to sneak around and forage food and water. so i made a wood-elf rogue named Funderbunk.

after 24 levels i realized i didn't much care for the class. i was waiting for a boat and this level 60 ogre was also waiting and he started casting spells. i was intrigued by this. i had no idea dumb ass ogres could cast spells. evidently they could and to make a long story short, Spangloid was born sometime during Luclin. retired sometime during DoN. 350ish days played.

I was firmly in the "Pay a monthly fee for a game? Fuck that, I've got MUDs!" camp during the UO days and as EQ came out. I think it was June that I borrowed my friends copy. He had quit playing already, but I was hooked so just activated his account (I can't believe that the old tutorial managed to hook me!), so now I'm forever stuck with an embarassingly lame account name ><

I started playing right after Kunark came out. I played for a few days and continously died to eveything in sight. I can't count the number of times I had to spend my hard earned pieces of gold to find my sad, dead body. So, I quit.

After much taunting by my husband, I gave it another shot. I have been hooked since. I have been in Sons of Steel, Farstorm and finally Kratos. After the founding guild leader of Kratos bailed for WoW, I assumed that role. It is a much different guild than its initial formation (and I am happy about that) of Farstorm and Pravus. Now, its mostly LoV, a few KoE and a some random others from Veeshan and Luclin. Aside from the stress from being a GL, I am still having a great time.

Started a ranger on Cleric on Povar first weekend it was live after playing it visiting my cousin.
Started Ardel on Veeshan in June of 1999. Was in Legion of Tears with some friends (now long gone from the game) eventualy being guild leader of that guild.
Moved Ardel during server split.
Came back and created Fyndina, which I ended up playing the most.
Created Aateni to play after I left FoH.
And now playing Ardel #2 on Veeshan.... ;)
