The part of Kerry's comments that I didn't appreciate was the whole part with Cheney's daughter. The ONLY relevance that I saw was that gay was mentioned, and she is gay. The fact that he said that she was living her life the way she wanted was disrespectful. How can he know how she wants to live her life. What if she wants to be wed as well? I felt disgusted at hearing the way he even worded the sentence that he used her in. Print doesn't do it service.

Then she probably shouldn't be the campaign manager for part of a ticket doing all they can to prevent it. She deserves whatever she gets. Kerry should bring up the hypocracy of her and her father every chance he gets. What if she wants to be wed as well?
The reality is, Cheney, his daughter and the Bush team enjoy getting political milage out of her sexual orientation when it suits them. If they don't want it tossed in their face, she should be just his daughter, not his campaign manager and not some sort of "gay outreach" for the Bush/Cheney ticket.
some speculation was that the Kerry campaign wanted to associate the Bush / Cheney campaign with supporting homosexual individuals, since the GOP actively uses propaganda about gay marriage associated with burning bibles to energize their electoral base.
So some speculated it was a maneuver by Kerry to weaken the anti-gay fervor of the pro-Bush base.
