It's kind of growing on me, but it certainly does have nice visuals (creepy band facial hair, aside). But I'll always love the original more: MTV Video of "Don't Change"
Loved that concert montage, BTW. Well edited. Sure do miss Hutch...
Damn, Donny Osmond has some stamina! That took some serious energy and he's close to 50 in that video. Too funny. All that got cut down to just a few seconds in the final release:
TRON Dance. Very creative! Starts slow, ends up very cool.

I can't stop listening to this. I know a lot of critics have said their (her) new album (Ceremonials) is too over the top and overproduced... But I like it*. Fuck critics!
(*although to be honest some of the songs could have used a bit more editing)

A little from my life... During the past few months, I've played crappy acoustic and sing at open mic nights on Sundays at the local pub. I have some friends who play there too and we all drink and have a good time. Usually there are about 20-50 people in the bar and everybody's super supportive, even though we're not superstars by any means. It's nothing special, but it's a huge bright spot in my life, and something I've developed tremendous passion for.
Here are the songs I've mustered up the courage to cover so far. Feel free to suggest new ones for me to learn.
I liked Dresden Dolls but really a fan of her solo stuff... that being said, it is a pretty neat video/song.

Really? I thought it was horrible emo trash, I watched the whole thing cause I expected something to change, but no dice.

Tune is OK, was running in a different tab and didn't notice the blood.

I posted a video on this thread, Girl Anachronism, by the Dresden Dolls awhile back. I don't listen to much in this category of songs (what category is this?) but think it's pretty good for what it is.

The newest addition to my repertoire on open mic night. The guitar melody is surprisingly difficult to play while singing, but makes for such a damn nice groove when I can get all the pieces working.
I'm looking for a couple more Johnny Cash songs to contrast / complement this one, so if y'all have any suggestions I'd be much obliged.
Their album "The Money Store" is probably my album of the year so far. It's very experimental, with a mix of rap/trance/hip-hop/punk/rock. It's good stuff man.

As a follow up to my post above, Death Grips just released their second album this year (No Love Deep Web). Apparently Sony was going to release it next year, so instead of waiting the band gave it away for free. Their first album, "Exmilitary" is also free. They have released 3 albums in less than a year and they are all different from one another.
Also, here is a great song/video from Killer Mike. The song is called "Reagan". Good stuff man!
I like Killer Mike, but haven't listened to his new stuff recently. Plenty of good hip hop out there that is more insightful than any of the shit that the people here bashing it listen to, good to see another person has some musical taste though, even if your taste in video games sucks!

I started with them on The Money Store. I went back to Exmilitary and I think it starts off slow, but goddamn tracks 5 through 13 are amazing. They flow and connect so well.
I hear a band like Death Grips once in a blue moon. I'm talking about the type of band that first makes me go "What the fuck am I listening to?" to where it clicks and you just go with it and eventually love it. The first time I heard System of a Down's debut album back at a party in 1998 was one of those times. That album was weird as shit for the time!
Another strange thing with Death Grips is that you can really feel how dirty and real these guys are. This band feels very counter culture to me and they strike a chord. They make most other rap feel so shiny and fake, similar to how punk rock in the 80's exposed rock and pop at the time. I get the feeling they honestly do not give a fuck. Some may accuse them of playing an angle because we're all so damn cynical and jaded when it comes to music, but goddamn that is exactly how they come across to me. Hell, their latest album cover has a giant cock on it. It's interesting how the lyrics are almost a rambling stream of consciousnesses with some nuggets of genius mixed in there.
Anyway, here's "Known For It" by Death Grips. I'm just obsessed with them right now!
EDIT: I listened to a review for Exmilitary where the host said the album made him feel like he was in a scared straight program for 45 minutes where he was yelled at by a crazed inmate. That might be the greatest review ever!
She Wants Revenge - Went to see these guys twice in the last couple weeks. Sad they are going on "Indefinite Hiatus". They did 5 final shows. Tonight was last one, we went last night, but tonight was last one. Band was walking around hanging with fans before the show.
I think my favorite is Sister, but going to miss seeing them live.
I am also starting to enjoy some of the Murder By Death stuff, almost went and saw them at House of Blues in Anaheim, but coaching soccer and we had practice
The guy in Murder By Death sounds like Johnny Cash
This song is a classic. It's the eninem "lose yourself" song of the 80's if you had dreams of being in a rock band.
Standing in the rain, with his head hung low
Couldn't get a ticket, it was a sold out show
Heard the roar of the crowd, he could picture the scene
Put his ear to the wall, then like a distant scream
He heard one guitar, just blew him away
He saw stars in his eyes, and the very next day
Bought a beat up six string, in a secondhand store
Didn't know how to play it, but he knew for sure
That one guitar, felt good in his hands, didn't take long, to understand
Just one guitar, slung way down low
Was a one way ticket, only one way to go
So he started rockin', ain't never gonna stop
Gotta keep on rockin', someday gonna make it to the top
And be a juke box hero, got stars in his eyes, he's a juke box hero
He took one guitar, juke box hero, stars in his eyes
Juke box hero, (stars in his eyes) He'll come alive tonight
In a town without a name, in a heavy downpour
Thought he passed his own shadow, by the backstage door
Like a trip through the past, to that day in the rain
And that one guitar, made his whole life change
Now he needs to keep on rockin', he just can't stop
Gotta keep on rockin', that boy has got to stay on top
And be a juke box hero, got stars in his eyes
He's a juke box hero, got stars in his eyes
Yeah, juke box hero, stars in his eyes
With that one guitar, (stars in his eyes)
He'll come alive, come alive tonight...Woah

This is the band my son is in. They will be announcing him as the new guitarist
This is their new song. He did not record this one with them, but will be playing his first show with them July 27th.
Their EP "The Cold Summer" released on ITunes last night. Band is Go For Gold. Pretty excited for him.

If you like the 80's vibe mixed in with a little Poppy check out this band. I know the drummer pretty well. Got to see them at a small show with a bunch of celebrities in LA too.
