Heard this first on NPR (omg what an elite liberal!). Listener's rated it as best song of 2009 (so far). Pretty catchy, tribal, techno-ish rock song!

Why Geddy Lees is such a great bass guitarist.
Watch the Analog Kid live:
Analog Kid
Love the lyrics for the song.
- [Show]
- A hot and windy August afternoon
Has the trees in constant motion
With a flash of silver leaves
As they're rocking in the breeze
The boy lies in the grass with one blade
Stuck between his teeth
A vague sensation quickens
In his young and restless heart
And a bright and nameless vision
Has him longing to depart
Chorus
You move me
You move me
With your buildings and your eyes
Autumn woods and winter skies
You move me
You move me
Open sea and city lights
Busy streets and dizzy heights
You call me
You call me
The fawn-eyed girl with sun-browned legs
Dances on the edge of his dream
And her voice rings in his ears
Like the music of the spheres
The boy lies in the grass, unmoving
Staring at the sky
His mother starts to call him
As a hawk goes soaring by
The boy pulls down his baseball cap
And covers up his eyes
Chorus
Too many hands on my time
Too many feelings
Too many things on my mind
When I leave I don't know
What I'm hoping to find
When I leave I don't know
What I'm leaving behind...
Then watch someone cover what he was playing live while Singing (yea Geddy Lee's voice sucks and he's the ugliest man on the planet but he still has to sing!) and playing Keyboard:
Cover
RHCP's Flea rocks but he don't sing like Geddy!
And if you don't think drummer Neil Peart is any good w/out a huge drum it, check out this video:

about two minutes in...holy fucking christ!
holy crap. best drum solo ever. EVER! Watch it. (no, that's not Tom Hanks playing the drums)
oh, and someone try out this 8+ minute drum solo by Neil Peart when he's around 60 years old:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qF-k4wg70rg
I'm exhausted just watching him play that long. Watch as he gets faster and faster as it progresses. Watch about 4 minutes into it if you're in a "RUSH" : )

drumming is catchy. thanks, It's worth grabbing the actual mp3 as the YouTube audio quality doesn't do the song justice.
Interesting that the drumming in this song sounds the same:
Blonde Redhead '23'(a little faster)
After you listen to that version, watch this version with higher quality audio and drums not emphasized:
23
I'm a new fan!
These two bands performed together:

If I had to pick one Video to put in a time capsule to show future generations what Michael Jackson was all about, it would be this one.
-his best live performance
-his best song
-first Moonwalk
I'm really not a Michael Jackson fan but no one could dance like him. You watch the videos these days and artists can't hold a candle to him. Even if you don't like the style, you've got to respect his talent! I remember seeing this live and thinking, "what the fuck did he just do?" when he moonwalked.
Billy Jean - Motown 25th Anniversary
And no one could get away with wearing geeky clothes like MJ. Highwaters!

Not a big fan of Springsteen, but this was a fucking brilliant collaboration between Springsteen and Morello. Just listen to Morello's work... it is fucking amazing. This performances made my 65 year old parents fans of Rage Against the Machine and they kept hoping Morello would come out and play with other musicians.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0Si6B-CHzg&feature=fvw
This is from the 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert. They did a fucking amazing job. Instead of just having bands come out and play their songs, they had various musicians play together and play songs from entirely different bands. Was really awesome and can been seen through HBO on demand, etc...

My roommate is a huge fan of Sparklehorse and mentioned what happened yesterday. I had just started listening Mark Linkous' work in this last month or two and really enjoyed his albums as well as his collaborative work w/ Dangermouse and David Lynch on their album 'Dark Road To The Soul'. Hopefully legal bullshit will be worked out so people can enjoy that album and also be turned onto his earlier work.

I know this isn't necessarily most of the crowd's genre of choice here, but I think most of you will at least be able to appreciate this song. Mos Def rips this song, it's a shame how under rated these two are, particularly Mos.

Ug, the Bar9 mix was annoying. I like the original song but the video was sort of 80's. The second "Bar9" video had more interesting visuals but, as with most remixes I hear, the song was destroyed. It feels like the shocking visuals were there to distract from the bad remix.
Lyrics:
- [Show]
- Example - Kickstarts Lyrics
You want me to come over I got an excuse
Might be holding your hand but im holding it loose
Go to talk then we choke its like our necks in a noose
Avoid the obvious we should be facing the truth
Start to think it could be fizzling out
Kinda shocked because I never really had any doubts
Look into your eyes imagine life with out ya
And the love kick starts again
Starts again
The Love kick starts again
Starts again
Its the same old you the same old me
You get bored and I get cold feet
Get high get wandering eyes
Forget ive never ever had it so sweet
I realise what I got when Im out of town
Cos deep down youre my girl in a golden crown
My princess and I dont wanna let you down
No I Dont wanna let you down down down down
You want me to come over I got an excuse
Might be holding your hand but im holding it loose
Go to talk then we choke its like our necks in a noose
Avoid the obvious we should be facing the truth
Start to think it could be fizzling out
Kinda shocked because I never really had any doubts
Look into your eyes imagine life with out ya
And the love kick starts again
Starts again
Not taking away the second producer's right to be creative but it looks like he just interrupted the song with those horrible distorted jittering parts to tell a story he already had in his head, not really connected to the song, and then jumped back into the real song again.
Edit: The Asian woman in the first video is hot.

Th Bar9 remix style is called dubstep.
Not to everyone's tastes but I enjoy it.
The song's original producer, Sub Focus usually does pretty hardcore dubstep. This track is very different for him.
If you liked this track, check out some of his older stuff. Definately not as pop but very infectous.
I love his Credit Much mixtape stuff.
Info on the Bar9 remix video.
Having studied film at university and also had involvement in all my own videos (including the video for Me & Mandy which took 4 days to shoot, £500, about 50 cast & crew and a weeks editing) I know just how much time and effort has gone into the video below
A short while back I noticed that some talented dudes based in LA were knocking out some pretty impressive martial arts / parkour videos, they were fast-paced, homemade, low-budget but utterly brilliant. They were also nearly always edited to a dubstep soundtrack
I got in touch with them via YouTube and after a few email exchanges I sent them my Bar9 remix and they wrote me a delicious video treatment.
A month later they delivered this
A truly astonishing piece of gritty cinema made for next to no money
