Apparently sony doens't want your $100 if your character isn't currently subscribed?

Anyone else have this problem?

Seems lame - but maybe it's just the registration script thing.

I'd try emailing Vannoth/Saiphos at fanfaire@soe.sony.com since he's the one running it and see if he can hook you up :D

Well now I really tried to register and couldn't....is this a sign?

I re subscribed my account - but now when I complete registration I get

Please try again later!"

Apparently others had the same trouble? Suggestions?

I did have that for Chicago, but my name appeared on the Attendees list and Van said that it went through when I emailed him.

Went in fine this year for me though, best bet is to email Vannoth to verify :)

Everyone who is going, make sure to pack a good emollient lip balm, especially if you are used to a humid climate. Vegas is dry as hell. You might want to bring a good hand and body lotion too.

Also, I would suggest that, at Quarks, people buy their drinks at the bar, to prevent the hassle over dividing a huge bill at the end of the night. I seem to recall some problems last time when there was a huge group of us at a table. I'm always suspicious that drinks gets added to the bill, because it seems the pool of money always comes up short.

If anyone else has some FF tips, please share. I'm obsessive about packing everything I need.

I was just thinking of putting together some tips this weekend heh.

Lip balm and body lotion a definate. That goes for you manly men too. A little lotion on your body after your morning shower will keep you from crying at night when you're trying to sleep.

Static Electricity warning. If you haven't been to Vegas before...hahaha have fun. You're like a thunder storm shocking everything within a 23 mile radius. There is no fix, but if you're particularly tender and jumpy, intentionally shock yourself on a less sensitive area (knuckles) to decrease that chance of the super big shock that scares and or hurts you and causes property damages.

Water, drink a lot of it. Vegas is a desert, you will be dehydrating faster than normal. Plus you'll be drinking your ass off with the rest of us.

The last tip is for any of you gamblers. I never knew this myself until actually training and becoming a dealer. If you gamble, tip your dealer. Dealers on any game, in any casino in Vegas make minimum wage plus tips, and get taxed on tips. So tip them, tip them early (instead of when you leave), and they will most definately try to make your playing more enjoyable.

Vannoth's Travel Tips: (l33t beta infoz)

1. Pack one bag that you can carry-on a plane and stow below a seat or in the overhead bin. Pilot roll-a-longs work best. Checking bags suck and are a waste of time, and a risk to be lost in transit.

2. When packing your toiletries, the morning that you're leaving, get ready as normal, and once you use them, put them away in your toiletries bag. That way you wont forget anything you need.

3. If flying Southwest, get there extra early, and sit first in line of line "A" so you can get a seat in the emergency exit row, preferable one with no seats in front of it.

4. When sitting in your seat on Southwest and everyone else is seating, read a paper, and do NOT make eye contact. (Unless she is hot.) Making eye contact invites people to sit next to you. Ignore all human life until everyone is on the plane. If you want to be a real bastard, put a magazine or book on the seat next to you.

5. Bring extra stuff to do. Extra book, GBASP, Portable DVD...whatever. You never know when you might be stranded in some airport for 8 hours + and having nothing to do is teh suck.

Disagree! We always check all our bags. Makes it nice to have to lug around heavy bags or deal with trying to find room in the airplane for them. If you have a non-stop, no change-over flight it is unlikely that your bags will get lost. It usually when you switch planes or stop to let people off that problems can arise. AND, packing one bag you can carry on is impossible for most girls. Some of you guys can get away with it though.

Quarks is usually an all day thing

Hoping to do Benehana's, then hit up the reception, so probably a couple of hours before that starts.

Tips for room sharing!

* For those with more than 2 people in the room, go down to the front desk and tell them you locked your key in the room (and the other person is not with you) and they will give you a third key.

* Floor sleepers should consider buying a small air mattress to bring. Bakara and I will have an electric pump, so if you need to borrow it, let us know. Floor sleepers should also pack a sheet and a light blanket.

* When you have a bunch of people in one room, showering is always an issue. Be courteous and don't take long showers. Let ladies go first since they usually take a little longer with the post-shower getting ready.

* Get extra towels and an extra blanket or two from housekeeping

Other tips:

* Carry a little piece of paper and small pen/pencil in your wallet that has your room number (in case you get really drunk and forget :P), as well as other people's room numbers, names, cell phone numbers etc.

* Smokers have always been courteous at FF by not smoking in the immediate area of everyone else. If you are a smoker, move to another area to smoke. Most of the people there do not smoke, but you will always find someone to keep you company!

* If you are a girl, stay away from Baelish of Caster's Realm. He's mine! :P

*scolds Phugg_Innay* Behave now! Or no cookies for you!

Another few more little tips:

Don't forget your sunscreen lotion, especially if you plan to use the pool or even just to go outside :p.

You can fit everything into a checkin if you really want (even the ladies!) You just have to know how to pack. Learn the clothes rolling technique :). About 2 years ago a friend of mine and I went to Vegas, she not only put 3 days worth of clothes into her carryon bag + toiletries but also 3 pairs of shoes (one of which was a pair of boots.

I heard of a new site this morning called:
http://www.seatguru.com
Which has collected data as to what is the best seat to get in planes or airlines. Might be useful for those taking southwest and want to know the best seat to snag :).

As for bill splitting at Quarks, we can certainly try the rule me and my coworkers use. You add your own food (and drinks) together and add 25% of what you've added up. That should take care of tax and tip (though not sure what the tax is in vegas).

The little woodelf ranger,
Kadie
