If we all took this statement to heart, there would be almost no jokes ever

If people joked about every topic without any regard for other people's feelings that would be just as bad. You are talking radical when there is a happy medium. I even said I understood he was trying to be funny and that I found it offensive because of my friends experiences. I'll bet 9/11 jokes would go over badly on this board because of the number of US people that read it and were effected that day.

Also check out his performance in Miller's Crossing, another Coen brothers film. The scene he has with Gabriel Byrne in the woods is one of the most intense ever shot on film.

That movie was fucking loaded with classic scenes though.

Atokal, the difference between you calling someone a rapist and everyone else calling you a pedophile is in the context. You were absolutely serious about it and didn't drop it for a long time, and that's (as far as I remember) when the pedophile thing became the running joke. Emphasis on running joke. You were seriously accusing someone of being a "cyber-rapist", everyone else was jokingly accusing you of being a pedophile. Can you see the distinction?

Again, I'd like to point out that nobody finds the thought or actual act of pedophilia to be acceptable or funny. They find the idea of accusing you of being a pedophile funny. Another key distinction. A pedophile is lower-than-low, the scum of the universe. Someone that thieves and murderers have contempt for. That's what's funny, accusing you of being that type of person, not the thought of you harming children.
