This is how I think of it all:
1)Sept 11 - kill em all
2)US pummels Bin Laden n pals - yay
3)Iraq - hrmmm ok but show proof
4)Bush says he'll go in without UN approval - fuck no you stupid bastard
Only thing left is Bush to actually order it contrary to the rest of the worlds wishes. Then I'll support UN intervention of the US. The war is BS, send a fucking sniper or 4.

I disagree Brittney. After reading all the well-informed logical thought provoking insight of the pro-war right-wingers, I have changed my stance. I say we go in there and kill all those no good sand niggers and take all their oil. I don't care what anyone else in the world says, if they got a problem we can kill them next. After all, what good is the most powerful military in the world if you can't put it to use?

3. Saddam is an evil, evil man. He has murdered over 200,000 of his own people
Casualties in a civil war =! murder.

they are not casualties in a civil war numbnuts, he went and executed entire villages in the south and north of his country. Do you pay attention to news at all when it does not agree with your point of view?

Please, let's leave our mistakes during Vietnam out of this.

do you have any decent point or are you just trying to avoid addressing anything at all now?
As for being dumb, I consider it a victory when someone arguing against me has to retreat behind insults without addressing any valid points of fact or opinion on the matter at hand.

No dumbass. The villages he attacked were Kurdish. The Kurds were in rebellion against Saddam and waiting for the implied promise of US support.
It wasn't random slaughter as you seem to be positing.
Do you pay attention to news at all when it does not agree with your point of view?

You should have let him continue to make an ass out of himself, Tanc.
It's funny that the facts are readily available regarding the 'incited' rebellion by the Kurds, yet dumbass chose to ignore them.

Ah yes I see.
However, it's still my shift. You get your turn at trying to stem the flood of poorly-formed, badly worded sentiment on the subject later on. After my shift and before Kyo's

Kyou,
The other problem I have with this debate (and many others) is the way many people decide to write off all evidence as government rhetoric from the start.
when you make a statement about another country or person without evidence to back it up, that is rhetoric. even colon powells big power point presentation to the UN that was supposed to provide the security council with irrefutable proof of iraq shenanigans was nothing but a bunch of claims with no evidence to back it up and some blurry sattelite photos of buildings that could have been toys r us warehouses in Arizona for all anyone knows.
I just saw a commercial on TV last night from the US government pleading for support towards the invasion or iraq. It made me sick to my stomach that the bush administration would resort to advertising war on television.
And Bosnia was a UN affair.

Does civil war give the right to murder women and children? Not accidental deaths, but firing squads. That is murder, not casualties of war. Brit was right, we will never come together on this issue, but we don't need to. The war will happen and there will not be an oil crisis. The US will spend a ton of money and it will cause people across the globe to hate us, but mostly they already hate us, so that doesn't bug me at all either.
Unless a major nation feels strongly enough to actually defend Iraq militarily, none of this matters. Fortunately for me, the administration agrees with my thinking and you guys will have a chance to change that in 2004. Until then, we get to do it our way.

Not with the huge Anti War turnout on the college campuses, The AVG was 3% turnout.

The only folks I know who "live in fear of terrorism" in the US have larger issues to deal with. Some people need to have an ongoing crisis.
It will happen or not, it isn't something I can impact other than not living in an area (i.e.: the west bank) that has an ongoing conflict. I'm more likely to get in an accident or hit by lightning, and I don't worry about that.
More people die from car wrecks and murder in NYC every year than were killed when the WTC was destroyed. I'd imagine DC is close behind.

Alex Trebek: Yeah, it was a trick question, Mr. Connery. Why don't you pick a category?
Sean Connery: I've got to ask you about the Penis Mightier.
Alex Trebek: What? No. No, no, that is The Pen is Mightier.
Sean Connery: Gussy it up however you want, Trebek. What matters is does it work? Will it really mighty my penis, man?
Alex Trebek: It's not a product, Mr. Connery.
Sean Connery: Because I've ordered devices like that before - wasted a pretty penny, I don't mind telling you. And if The Penis Mightier works, I'll order a dozen.
Alex Trebek: It's not a Penis Mightier, Mr. Connery. There's no such thing!
Nicholas Cage: Wait, wait, wait...are you selling Penis Mightiers?
Alex Trebek: No! No, I'm not.
Sean Connery: Well, you're sitting on a gold mine, Trebek!

SC: It looks like this is my lucky day! I'll take The Rapists for $200.
AT: That's "Therapists..." That's "Therapists," not "The Rapists." Lets skip "Therapists" and try "Household Objects" for $400. And the answer is, "You usually drink water out of one of these..."
AT: Sean Connery.
SC: A leather glove!
SC : Oh...I'll play your game you rogue! Lets try "The Rapists" for $20.
AT : How about "Show and Tell" for $600? I'll just show you an object and you'll tell me what it is, okay?
SC : It's a man with a moustache!
