It wouldn't have surprised me if he would have came here. AZs is like a retirement home for the NFL. We got Emmitt Smith past his prime, we got Edgerrin James past his prime...why not Favre!

Hah! Gotta hand it to Kyle, he is actually pretty tough--played on two bad ankles all season, even though it certainly showed in his awful 2nd half of 2009.

As for Tebow, he'll be gameday #2 so they have more options to insert him into game situations and packages geared for his talents, aka wildcat (wildcard, bitches!!).

Quinn would be the starter if Orton went down. The contract extension for Kyle makes this scenario the most likely.

Wouldn't that be the wildass formation?

The way the Broncos ran it last year....ABSOLUTELY.

Kevin Kolbinator. I'm interested to see how he does, but don't have exceptionally high hopes... yet.

Matt Leinart benched for Saturday; could be done in Arizona

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 26, 2010 3:24 PM ET

For the second time in three years, it looks like Ken Whisenhunt is giving up on Matt Leinart as a starting quarterback before the season even starts.

Whisenhunt announced that Derek Anderson will start Arizona's preseason game this week against the Bears. The plan is for Leinart to come off the bench late in the second quarter and play into the second half.

Whisenhunt stressed the change wasn't necessarily permanent, but it doesn't take a genius to see this is now Anderson's job to lose. The third preseason game is every team's chance for a final "dress rehearsal" for the season.

As ESPN's Mike Sando writes, "Whisenhunt would not demote his starting QB in third week of preseason if he thought that QB had earned the respect of the locker room." It will be tough for Leinart to recover from this.

Leinart played only nine snaps last week, and now he's not even starting. The only question left is where Leinart will remain with the team. (It looks like NFL.com's Mike Lombardi had great information here.) Whisenhunt is essentially giving up on Leinart, no matter how this move is spun in the short term.

It's at this point we have to mention a tip sent us earlier today, warning us that Leinart was already told Anderson was already the starting quarterback. We didn't feel confident passing it along at the time, but the tipster just earned some major points. So now we can't ignore the second part of the email.

The source claimed that Leinart was told the Cardinals were working on a trade to Seattle, where Leinart and Pete Carroll could try to party like it was 2004. That's certainly just a rumor for now, and sounds a little off the wall.

Then again, the idea of Derek Anderson opening the season as Arizona's starter sounded off the wall just a week ago.
I'm in the boot Leinart completely off the team camp. The Cardinals have two promising rookie QB's in Max Hall and John Skelton. If the Cardinals can only keep three QBs (the norm), it should be Anderson, Hall and Skelton.

Check this Sports Science clip on Skelton:

http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=5124133

Max Hall actually has been the best QB in Cardinals camp.

If they were smart they would snag Chaz Batch when he gets released. He is way better than either of the 2 clowns in Arizona.

Damn things are quiet here!

No one commenting on the magnificent Steeler D that is allowing them to win despite the flurry of QB and O-line injuries they have, snickering at the Jets come uppance last week, the overpowering look of the Packers, the way the Texans are maturing or the way a crappy rule allowed Crybaby Cutler to sneak a win out of Detroit...

I'm in 6 fantasy leagues and 2 winner/loser pools. (I picked Arizona to lose yesterday). All of that takes a lot of time maintain. I was at the Packer game yesterday. I've got a man-crush on Clay Matthews!

Lawrence Timmons is an absolute man-beast. It is scary when I can honestly say that he is the best linebacker on a Steelers team that has Lamar Woodley and James Harrison on it. Adding in Bryant McFadden and having a healthy Polamalu and Aaron Smith is going to make that one scary defense if they all stay healthy. That is not even accounting for Ziggy Hood, who is going to be terrorizing offensive lines by the end of this season.

It is very reasonable to say that the Steelers could be 3-1 or possibly 4-0 when Reothlisberger gets back.....and that is with them playing a 3rd and 4th string QB in his absence. How scary is a team that gets a two time Super Bowl winning QB back with a 3-1 record with that defense and a pretty good RB in Mendenhall?

Oh and by the way....Dennis Dixon is a bum. Slash has already been tried in Pitt and it does not equal SB wins. If it were me, I would trade his ass right now to some idiot team like Arizona that desperately needs a QB and get a draft pick. Those clowns would probably throw a first rounder for him just because of his hype.

I'm going to go against Kilmoll and stick up for Dixon a bit: he showed some good stuff in pre-season, last year (when he had his OT loss in Baltimore) and against Atlanta in week 1. I think he is the type of young QB that needs time to learn the pro game, unlike a Flacco, Ryan or Dirty Sanchez. Add in the fact that the team loves the guy and that may not be HoF material but a decent player. Another point in his favour is a mobile QB with the Steelers injury riddled O-line isn't a bad thing: I think he's a better man for the job than Leftwich is right now. I do think however, that with Roethlisberger's age, unless Big Ben fucks up again (which isn't outside of the realm of possibility) Dixon will only ever be at best a #2 for the Steelers.

Lawrence Timmons... wow. I'm just amazed at the difference a year has made for this guy. Its early but if he keeps this up, there could be 3 probowl LBs from the Steelers. Now they need to shore up the big bodies more: seems they're always down 2-3 guys off the O and D lines...

And Canno, WTF is up with your Broncorpses??? Another one bites the dust of an apparent suicide??? Its sad seeing that from a 23 yr old kid like McKinley...

The Cardinals are on top of their division. Superbowl two years ago, NFC Championship game last year. 1st place in the division so far this year...what more do you want?

Goooo Cardinals! AZ will roll as soon as Max Hall takes over the QB spot!

Yeah, I read about Kenny last night. 23 years old. WTF does a 23 year old kid know about anything?? It is very sad. By all accounts he was a great kid. I suppose it could have been a horrible clinical depression...

Back to football. How about that D. Thomas! This kid appears to be the real deal and is a monster. Peyton Manning next week though....ugh. Will definitely need a stellar game by the Broncos secondary and another decent showing up front. Indy does not have much of a running game, and even Peyton can't win all the time like that (re: Week 1). Still a long shot for Denver, even at home!

And yeah, I wouldn't write off Dixon quite yet. The kid has talent, and should get better if he can stay healthy and get reps. Loved watching him when he was a Duck!

6 Sacks in 2 games. That's more than some teams have total.

That guy can spread his legs pretty far apart. He must be wearing Chuck Norris jeans!

Oh, and so much for Dixon staying healthy per my last comment:

Lateral meniscus tear...not as bad as ligament damage, but looks like he goes back to the clipboard when that big white dude returns...
Dixon, who injured the same knee at Oregon in 2007, will get a second opinion this week, but if the initial diagnosis stands, Dixon will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery and miss at least three weeks.

Superbowl Champions? No problem! Cardinals take the Saints out with an undrafted rookie QB! The Cardinals managed to score 30 points without a rushing or receiving TD.

Cardinals 3-2 on top of their division. Goooooo Cardinals!
