Thus: racial slur.

When you say redneck, you are referring to certain white people, based on qualifiers such as location, economic status, educational status, lifestyle preference, personal beliefs, and so forth. Thus: not a racial slur.

Any socially distinctive trait can be used as a slur when used with hatred. To say "redneck" is not a slur is actually quite wrong. If you think something is not a slur, here is the test for you : Walk calmly up to a group of the persons in question and say "well look at this group of <insert slur here>". If you get your ass kicked or run for your life, then it is a slur that they found offensive.
