This is the bottom line,

SEQ still works if you are willing to run a sniffer on your machine. There are several ways to obfuscate the presence of said program, including setting up a telnet server on your machine and having the linux box telnet over and run it each time you zone. The encryption has always been here, but SOE just compressed the key now and instead of taking a few seconds to brute force it, it would literally take billions of years.

Nobody has time to wait a billion years right? So you get the memory key location from someone in-the-know and you just take it from memory.

Dangerous shit guys and I'll tell those of you reading right now that run SEQ I wouldn't fool with it. Take your broken despawn GPS only version of SEQ and be happy you have that.

I also wanted to say that those of you arguing back and forth about the merits of SEQ and whats "right and wrong" make me laugh.... you'll drive home tonight and go over the speed limit, you'll smoke pot, you'll cheat on your spouse, you'll steal from work, but goddamn those people that use SEQ. PS: I seriously doubt anyone will *really and truly* release a Windows SEQ, it will probably stay how it is now. Linux still required and a pre-compiled libEQ.A available to decode if you can manually supply a key to SEQ. The people with enough intelligence to reverse engineer libEQ.A wont ever give out their source anyways, so no need to worry about the "masses" ruining EQ for you... sleep easy tonight!

SOE doesnt have to scan your process list for memory, it's entirely possible to "protect" the memory space that the key resides in on the client side so that the program knows when that memory space has been so much as looked at.

People think they don't do it now, but its definately possible.

Just do yourselves a favor, like I said before... stay away from ANY memory sniffers running in your EQ machine you're asking for a banning and possibly a back door if you didnt compile it yourself.

I stopped reading the posts after they got really stupid.

Anyway, SEQ isnt just about getting the guild sup3r dup3r spawns (like THO etc that you couldnt see with a gimp unless placed in a 'strategic' spot).

SEQ also provides a hint of unfairness when hunting. If you have ever hunted Spider Silk in EK and had competition with druids/rangers you know what I mean.

I used to dominate EK when I would hunt for silk back when I took the initiative to farm it. I went there recently though and there were 3 people in the zone, one of them was a low level gimp and another was a CoE Mage. No spiders were on track, and when they did pop up they died quasi-close to me slaying them or prior to me finding them in the first place.

SEQ isnt just about tracking things for the guild, its also for individuals. Abusing it in this sense, that a non-tracking class such as a Mage can track small spawns like spiders in EK, makes me absolutely sick.

SEQ is a cheater's program, but its a really helpful cheater's program at that. I can say Ive never used SEQ, I dont have a separate computer with linux on it, and I dont really know anything about it in its entirety. Though its a malefactor in accordance to VI's perspective, its a very benefactorial malefactor in accordance to the players of EQ - which is a sick, sad thing.

Im sure we could do just as well now without SEQ as we do now with it - I can 110 % guarantee that. Im just not going to get in anybody elses business and tell them to go to hell until they fucking rub their abuse-attained power in my face.
