E3 is pretty militant about who they let in these days anyway. You have to pretty much work at a game developer or a member of the media and provide like 3 pieces of proof that you do or they won't let you in, to cut down on the circus atmosphere of the show.

I used to go every year with my ex boyfriend who worked for imagine media (net generation, pc gamer etc) but he can't just put my name down and say I work for him any longer. It kind of sucks, but E3 is sort of boring unless you like gawking at booth babes and playing half finished games. I used to like going just for the trip to LA.

Pyrella - Illusionist - Leader of Ixtlan on Antonia Bayle

if you were walking around and you came upon a tulip with tits, would you let it be for the rest of the world to enjoy.. or would you pick it and carry it off to a secluded area to motorboat them?

...OMG I bet you can learn everything about that in a day...where do you live? You could make a detour for a day to get caught up on it and then fly to LA. =D (assuming you already registered...if not it's like $250, so you might be kinda screwed...) We got in free because our teacher wrote us all letters saying we were taking his Video Game classes... :D

Sadly, it's a two week class, and It's pretty intensive. I live near LA, so if I were going to be in town, it'd be no big thing, but I'll be ~3k miles away.

Hmmm...

Post by Lohrno »

Hmmm is it really that hard? I mean isn't a PBX just like a switching system for phones, or is there something I'm not quite getting right here? (probably is..;) )

Heheh switching sytems for phones are really complex once you get done with dialing plans, NDDIs, Trunk groups, Automatic Routing Schedules, Speed Dials, Programmable Keys, Voice over IP settings, etc. Phone systems are HARD. :(

Ohhhh ok... heh...I worked at Computer City a while back(heh it had to have been a while back of course they no longer exist.) and when they said go work the PBX they meant a telephone that had a little switching thing next to it. (They might not have even been calling it the right thing..) That sounds obviously a lot more complicated, but probably lucrative and worth it. Good luck with that! ;)

Video Game Programming, and Video Game Design. Fun little classes, we have to take 2 programming classes, a design class, and a history of the industry class, and we get a cool little certificate. ;) We went to GDC in march, and that was a hella lot of fun too! ;)

I dunno, the first 2 days don't seem worth the price they make you pay for them if you pay. I actually paid last year (when it wasn't like double the price...) and I can't say that that time was that well spent...Out of 10 hours of conferences I'd say 1 hour was useful...Could just be the stuff I went to though. I wish I had a press pass though, I hear they really get hooked up if you know what I mean! ;) (parties, priority viewing of stuff, etc.)
