Some Kevin Smith at the end!

Honestly I'm looking forward to seeing this. Hope it's as good as the first one. Or at least the second. I'll be sad if it's worse than the third!

I know the guy over on the Movie Blog site has been complaining about the title of this movie for some time, but he's right. It's a horrible name for the movie.

Even Yipee-ki-yay would have been a better title. Just plain Die Hard 4 would have worked as well.

C'mon, it has a cameo from Kevin Smith as a nerd and the sheriff from Deadwood as the bad guy, it has to be good :)

Tim Olyphant is in it? Heh, well, I liked him in Deadwood, but the guy has a houseplant as an acting coach. Will change my tune if he is all FURIOUS SHERRIFF BULLOCH though.

I agree on the silly title.

I was startled when I realized that he was the sleezy guy in The Girl Next Door. Was a bit of a departure for Bulloch!

I don't recall that one, but he was in Dreamcatcher and looked utterly lost and confused.

Rumor that it might be PG-13. That'd be no fun.

Tim Olyphant did well in Deadwood because his character was mostly emotionless (except when he beat the hell out of someone but even then he was pretty emotionless) and all he had to do was give mean looks.

As I recall, he was the most depressed after learning Deadwood was canceled as he had just purchased a huge house. He probably knew his acting skills wouldn't get him many other roles.

Still, he was excellent in Deadwood!

Bruce Willis got on the chat boards about his movie recently. He was incognito for awhile but revealed himself later.

Scroll down to the black background posts. "Walter B" is Bruce Willis.

Keep scrolling after the initial posts. He goes on awhile.

i am John Mafuckin'Clane. What if I came to you all, just as as guy who in the last weeks of post, facing a 5 week, World-Wide press tour, an crazed at the prospect of it, just wanted to take a simpler approach to talking to this enormous group of people, who depsite pre-judgements from many, praise from a smaller minority, and some just waiting to see "what shakes out", merely wished to have an outlet to chat with people I seldom get to chat with, and what if I just listened? And then thought about what I was going to say, and wrote back honestly. I had a website up for a while, I shut it down for an indefinite period, but now, getting ready to launch the longest shot of my careeer, I feel a strong personal pull to hear from an audience I do not know, sans Bullshit,(And that means I tell the Truth), sans gossip, just the straight, tight shit. I would personally hope it might be more about my work, good and bad, just us. Harry can chime in if he likes, but frankly it's not cumpolsory........HOW WOULD THAT BE? in veritas Beedub
Here's pics of him on iChat after someone doubted it was him:

you never made a typo while typing? Take your best shot, but fuck off with comments about my typing. I can spell, I just neglected to proofread what I type sometimes. to a rolling stone, all your Yippee Ki Yay, Motherfucker dreams will be satistfied. And my friends have been calling me MaFuckin'Clane for years now, so let that one go. Oh, and 9, about your 16 Blocks comment. I always joked that we were actually making Die Hard 16. But yes, there was some MaClane in the 16 Blocks character... and to all the doubters, the ones who think this is some studio gimmick, or not really me, I would suggest you Cowboy the Fuck Up, and let it go. I am interested in what you have to say far more than what I have to write. I am here for that reason. beedub/MaFuckin'Clane/Walter B and proofreading is for pussies.... All I can say is that I will do what I can to remain comprehensible
He seems pretty cool. He put up with a lot of shit and didn't really lose his cool. He settles in after awhile and gives some good feedback.

The best quote was the one about him owning a mac because he's too stupid to use a PC.

But I did like how he talked about how he feels about the franchise. I might just have to go see it, despite them only being able to say "fuck" twice.

I caught the end of the first one last night. To be honest, the film really holds up over time. Most action movies don't but the first die hard was pretty amazing. I'll never see it in the theatres, but I'll check it out sometime once it's dvd'd

Really, you think #2 ranks second of the three so far? I guess it's been a while since I saw #2, but I always ranked them #1, #3, #2.

#1 classic
#2 entertaining
#3 nice find on a movie channel or rental but not up to the first two in the series

#4 looks promising. I don't think the PG rating will hurt it too bad.

Was he fighting the german invasion in #2 or was that in #3?

I remember one episode with Samuel L Jackson and one episode in the snow,

#1 was the best though! Great scene when he ran through those windows barefoot!

First by far, then three. I always felt the third was more of a sequel to the first more than the second. The second one was ok, but not as good as the other two. I would place 4 without have seen it probably under all three. Yes, having a PG13 rating kills it for me. The dialogue was 1/2 the reason I watched it.

Honestly I have only seen #3 once and I didn't remember it being all that great.

However, in the name of science I shall watch #2 and 3 over again and see if my opinion changes any.

I want to see Die Hard (which some people here in Sweden thought meant "The Hard One" in German), as good as episode nr 1!

Ep 1 was the best with that skyscraper.

So in Germany, they didn't have to spoof the name for the eventual porn movie that follows major movie releases!

Bump!

I see it's getting mostly positive reviews which is a good sign.

Oh, and I did watch #2 and #3 again and yeah #3 isn't bad. It seems to take itself a little more seriously than the second one and seems to be the (slightly) better movie so I revise my rankings.

I saw it wednesday night. Although I did enjoy it, I had a few gripes.

For one a lot of the humor fell flat. However this is just a problem in general with Die hard films as they're ususually chock full of one liners that are hit or miss. I watched the original Die Hard a few weeks ago and it wasn't as funny as I remember it. But their were definitely some amusing moments in there that offset the bad.

Also due to the PG-13 rating the language was kept to a minimum. I know some people wonder why fans of the previous films make such a big deal about it, but John Mclaine is one of the last few gritty foul mouthed action heros. It was part of the character and to see him more or less neutered dialogue-wise kinda sucks. And yes, for those that are wondering,
[Show]
his infamous line is censored :(
. I cried a little.

I know it sounds like I'm ripping on it, but it was a fairly entertaining film. I think it's the only film I will ever see where the main character uses a fucking car to take down a flying helicopter and I not roll my eyes. As per usual he also gets the living hell beat out of him. He's not walking around with a nicely pressed suit and a freshly washed face. He's walking around in tattered blood soaked clothes with bruises and cuts from pretty much the get go. I think it keeps nicely with the spirit of the previous films I just think it could've been more. I'm hoping the DVD version will bring back the John Mclaine we know and love.

The director that did this is being eyed for the Wolverine movie.

I also rewatched them about a week ago and I enjoyed all 3 films. . The second one was actually a really good follow up IMO. It held up better than I remembered.

Die Hard 1 was the best
Die Hard 4 2nd place!

The other two not so good.

I saw this film last night. I enjoyed it very much despite what I consider to be a major flaw in the plot:
[Show]
Hackers breaking into the NSA? LOL at this one. Seriously, you can take the best programmers from the biggest tech companies and they would have trouble hacking into the NSA. The U.S. government is the richest entity in the world, which entails being able to hire the best security programmers.

Otherwise, I liked this movie a lot. I especially liked the part where he evaded the F-38(?) with his semi! For a moment I thought he was going to jump into the cockpit of the hovering plane but that would have been pretty inconceivable.
I give this movie an A-
I tell it like a true mackadelic.

Computer geeks may have a hard time with this movie if they can't accept certain things and just let them pass by. Yes.. A lot of the hacking or whatever in this movie is pretty unrealistic but honestly.. If it was realistic it would be as boring as watching mold grow on rocks in the desert.

Anyway... Having recently seen this I'd rate it pretty high when compared with the others. It's nice to see a 'real' action movie again. And one without lame shaky camera work and complete CGI environmets. I think if this was rated R and had a little more colorful language I'd rate it above Die Hard 1.

8.5/10 - Docked one point for the PG-13 rating.

I'm placing this one in the #2 spot right behind the original Die Hard.

Die Hard movies always require a heavy dose of suspension of reality.

The scene where the car takes out the helicopter is the point in the movie where you've got to make a choice...either you flip the reality switch to off or you aren't going to enjoy the movie.

The language barrier with this being a PG rated movie only had a minor impact on the movie for me as there was more geeky hacker humor required in this movie than the macho tough guy humor in the rest of the series.

Kevin Smih's role was so so but he did ok. Justin Long did well. I've liked his roles as a sci fi/computer nerd ever since Galaxy Quest. Tim Olyphant also did well. His acting reminds me a lot of Michael Biehn of Terminator/Aliens fame. (nuke the place from, orbit. It's the only way to be sure)

The only reason to have made this an R rated movie would have been to see more of the asian chick.

8.8/10

1. Die Hard
2. Die Hard 4 (lame name omitted)
3. Die Hard 2
4. Die Hard 3

It was pretty good. It especially surprised that the PG13 barrier didnt hurt the movie very much. I still think Transformers was a bit more exciting.

I bought and watched the unrated dvd version of Die Hard 4. You know how when ou watch a movie on cable TV and they dub out the swearing with really stupid phrases? Well, for the unrated version, they did the opposite. They very obviously dubbed in swearing. This is the only movie I have ever seen where that has been done. Kind of weird.

Anyway, I thought the movie was pretty fun. I think they could do another 1 or 2 of them if they hurry. Bruce said he'd totally love to. This gives me hope that the 4th Indiana Jones may end up doing that franchise proud.

Definitely better than the 2nd and 3rd installments.

The only thing I had trouble coping with was scene settings. I have lived in DC for 6 years now, and I don't know any tunnel in this city that has two way traffic directed like that...so that part was a huge bummer to me for them to create a tunnel for the scene...I don't think it was totally necessary, but I'm also not sure of another way to pull that scene off.

It's weird how that works, I felt the same way when independence day came out. yes, it was an alien invasion thingy but no road pulls up to the empire state building straight on. It totally took me out of the movie at what was supposed to be the most intense moment in the picture.

I hope DH 4 comes to on demand soon as I'd like to see it in HD when I get the 2 hours to spare.

Saw this tonight finally. Entertaining! It's a popcorn film, put your brain in neutral affair. Look too close and you'll end up falling through a giant plot hole. But just enjoying it for the over-the-top action is very satisfying. And, god help me, I like the Mac kid. He has a good way of delivering his comedy. Willis is looking old!
