Later this year, digital downloads of Star Wars: The Old Republic will be available exclusively on Origin.

EA's started pulling titles from Steam. Crysis 2 has been removed.
It's still up on Direct2Drive and GFWL Marketplace but for how long..

It fragments an already small PC gamer community.

There really does need to be some sort of over-community where achievements and such can be aggregated by the users that care about it. But all the dev houses and platform manufacturers seem dead set against it (as we saw with the closure of sites that did basically that), and I really cannot figure out why.

This is just going to happen more. Companies with the means would much rather sell the product themselves online in lieu of giving Valve a cut of the profits for using Steam. It sucks, I really love Steam, and don't want to have 10 different service platforms for PC games. I've already resigned myself to having to get Origin eventually for SWTOR, but I may actively resist getting other games just as my own personal protest. We'll see!
