Not my favorite, but I don't skip it upon further reading... not bad. I can't really find anything I don't like. Same with Brienne--I like her story as well.

This is fucking fantastic:

http://livefeed.hollywoodreporter.com/2 ... teran.html

I never would have thought of it, but I think he's perfect. He played one of the best characters on The Wire IMO, and sounded convincingly local to Baltimore even if he is from Dublin. Good actor and a perfect choice.

Holy hell, you're right. I heard some great names tossed around for Littlefinger, but he's scheming and cunning (or at least, has played those characters before). Looking forward to him in the role.

Good grief, if microanalysis of the casting is any indication, this series is going to do nothing but enrage the cult of GRRM.
I can just picture his rabid fans running to the internet after every episode to post all the mistakes and inconsistencies based on thier own personal interpretations of the characters in the books.

Haha miir, I look at it more as if they're doing this great a job casting, then I'll be okay with their dramatic choices. TV and books are different; if I wanted the books verbatim, I'd read them. I just want them to do a good job with what they have, and casting seems to point in a positive direction.

There was a call put out over the last few months - let me see if I can find it...

Hmm... best I could come up with:

http://www.northernirelandscreen.co.uk/ ... oryID=2707

Really fucking glad to see someone like Aidan Gillen involved. That shows it must be being taken pretty seriously, but then again you see nonentity morons like Alfie Allen being dragged into it (oh wow my daddy was famous let me in, let me in!) - but hey, you can't have everything.

I saw Alfie Allen do a performance of "Equine." He was utterly terrible. Definitely one of the "don't believe the hype" crowd. But maybe he will be good, who knows?

Still, the cast and production lineup on this show looks fucking incredible. So I reckon it will be brilliant.

They were looking for amputees recently, as well as cross eyed men and hot latino women (not something you see in Belfast too much. Sadly.)

It'd be amazing to get a chance to go along to a filming for some of this stuff. I know one guy who may be able to wrangle me a place for an afternoon or so - it's great to see such a fantastic production come to NI though :D

I am actually hoping for his fatness to die before production closes so the gifted and consistently productive writers at HBO can give us some closure on this series.

I'm glad for changes. I don't want to be shown exactly verbatim what I read already. I just really hope they can produce follow up seasons quickly once this is a hit, because we all kind of know it will be with the strength behind the first book.

It has been so damn long since I read the first book that I'd be oblivious to a verbatim dialog. Anyone know if this will be available for download? I can't afford a premium channel at this time.

I tried browsing through a bit of the book to get a feel for it in the book store one day, and while I obviously can't make final judgment, and might like them, they struck me as a bit too... Nerdy? I know I'll probably get tore down for that. I don't really know how to say it, but basically in some cases for me, too much detail is a bad thing (which is funny cause I love Stephen King's books). It's like them talking about the science behind a warp drive or something in Star Trek.. I don't give a shit, I just want to see it happen.

Anyhow, by nature the show will be pared down quite a bit, and I think I'll like it. Preview looked cool, I'll look to download it once it gets started.

Preview should still be streaming on HBO.com.

And sure! All of the torrent sites should have it right away! I'll be going the same route due to buying a house and having to pare down bills.

Having not read the books, the first episode was kind of boring. I'm sure it's hard to introduce all the material of a deep storyline.

The story will have to heat up quick if they want to capture the attention of those that haven't read the books.

I haven't read any of the books, and probably won't as I don't make a lot of time for reading fiction these days. Besides, that's what TV is for.

I really liked the first episode, and am looking forward to more. I didn't think it was too slow personally, but my expectations were probably tempered by expecting a lot of setting up the story line for the series.

A tad slow for me, but I guess I don't care about setting up the story as much being as I haven't read the books, otherwise I'd feel different I'm sure. Nudity made up for it though!
