This is such a crippled argument. Are there whale farms where giant endangered whales can be domesticated and raised for human consumption? Are pigs and cows and chickens in danger of being extinct? Is it illegal to hunt them under international law? Why are certain animals domesticated and other animals not? Think about it for a goddamn minute.

Yes I eat meat. But I don't eat dolphins. There were some dolphins about 50 yards from me yesterday. There's no doubt in my mind that I coulda hopped on a boat and got close enough to shoot one in the head. hmmmm.... why wouldn't I do that? Or better yet, why don't I snap my cat's head and throw her in the oven, i'm sure she makes a tasty meal.

Use your fucking brain man.

You live in Tampa. How would you feel if the Japs came to kill all the dolphins along our shores and the U.S. government didn't do anything about it? Would YOU do anything about it?

They'd prolly be doing us a favor right now by clearing out that oil tainted biomass.

I certainly wouldn't be out there in a ship that's completely outclassed by the Japanese boats. Those dolts would have been served better auctioning the Ady Gil and spending the cash on improvements to the Irwin to enable it to keep up. Instead, they got sunk in a blatant and failed attempt to start drama.

Xyun - That was in response to your PETA-ish "animals are people too", etc.. rant.

I see dolphins while kayaking in the east bay all the time, watched them teach the young ones to fish too, it's pretty neat.

If they were doing that locally, I'd be pissed and raising a stink about it. Would I shoot someone for killing dolphins? - no. I've been in a position where having to shoot someone was a decent possibility. It sucks. Would I damage their vessel in a way that would endanger someone's life? - again no.

They're out there for their own egos' sake. They don't seem all that bright either.

I hear some dolts saying "well at least they're doing something". Yep, something ineffective that wastes money and probably does more harm than good for the purpose they want to accomplish.

Of course the direct actions they could take that would actually be effective are all things that would land them in prison and they don't really care that much.

Probably somewhere between whenever you couldn't spell "seriously" and the defense of killing rare mammals that the world is infinitely better having living free than murdered.

You're the living entity of a tired argument: We get it, you're a stupid american - way to go. You don't care about anything because it's outside of your immediate interests. Big fucking woop. Go to the back of the line.

Whenever you, and the rest of the idiots like you, grow up - you are cordially invited to the grown ups discussion on the future state of the world.

(In the meantime you're in the "!haha im american and retarded whatchagonnado" idiot camp.

It's cute, presumably, to whichever faggots you hang around with - so enjoy that. But don't expect not to be told to fuck off if you express that kind of idiotic shit in the company of people who aren't grade A fucking morons.

Cue stereotypical response by west coast jackass who doesn't know his arsehole from his elbow.

Wow... you're a moron.

Next time you start confusing the financial viability of animal protection as relevant to the moral relativity of the act, feel free to shut the fuck up and go back to your desk job.

So when you've got limited pool of cash, you think spending it on an activity with high expenses and little effectiveness or even counterproductive is a good idea just because it makes you feel good?

Before I donate to charities in general I look at their financials, those with very high overhead don't get my cash without my knowing exactly what the money goes to besides the primary aim. That's just common sense. Sea Sheppard's entire existence could be considered overhead given their effectiveness.

I've got a new charity for you, why don't we buy luxury jumbo jets and fill them with hipsters and PBR, then fly them around in circles over forest fires to put them out with patchouli scented pee. At least they'd be trying.

So I watched the actual episode the other night, after this whole discussion... And I could totally buy that the jabos did ram her on purpose. But it's could just be the editing teams good propaganda abilities that swayed me. The clips i had watched previosly were what a minute and a half... the show spent more time on it.

Anyways even with believing it 'could' have been intentional I'm still going to side with the jabos.

And as stated before by someone else, if seasheperd really did care about the whales that much, they would be willing to pay the ultimate price of thier own freedom, and just sink the damned factory ship and be done with it. The captain of the AdyGil is willing to give up his freedom in a boarding mission in the next episode, so why cant they all just man up and put a big nasty hole in the side of the factory ship... Didnt Greenpeace have a few well publicized rammings?

At least they tried.

Those would be found in the wreckage after they got bored and paid someone to melodramatically fake the crash.

Why yes, there are quite a few well publicised rammings of Greenpeace vessels.

The Sea Shepherd lunatics are the ones who ram, scuttle and sabatoge fishing/whaling ships.

To an extent, I couldn't care less if anyone sinks Japanese whaling ships operating in "Australian waters".
