I believe it's because cameras aren't allowed in most trials. Could be wrong!

some judges don't allow cameras in the courtroom in certain cases. Or they may allow them on a limited basis ... they'll let photog snap a few photos before the precedings begin, but none once they start. I met a courtroom sketch artist while covering a trial for our college newspaper. Pretty cool/weird guy. He drew a picture of me while I was writing an article for the school newspaper in a notepad in a courtroom. Still have that sketch, which is funny looking because I had a mohawk at the time 8)

Some of them are more concerned with conveying the mood of the event rather than perfect accuracy of the drawing. Remember, they're drawing really fast. They do basic outlines, and they fill in the colors usually of their favorite sketches after the hearing is over or during a recess.

On a side note, that trial I mentioned is still ongoing sort of. A new hearing made headlines just today ... and the trial I covered was about 3 years ago. http://www.statesman.com/news/local/jur ... 81660.html crazy stuff

and she gets the max sentence of 10 years...not sure if that is enough for dismembering a body and helping the killer leave the country.

There's not an inch of that body that I wouldn't devour repeatedly like a fat kid to cake.

<3 Jewel.
