Is Killmol pissed his former GL was a loot whore, or is there a deeper issue I'm missing here?

The amount of loot that Xan received is not what bothers people. Xan put more into the guild than just about anybody, and he deserved the rewards of his efforts.
People are pissed at him because he took those rewards and became an EBaying piece of shit, and turned a profit off of other peoples work, after he railed on people for doing the same thing.

I shouldnt speak for other people. But thats why Im pissed at him

I don't hate Xan.

I don't like Xan either.

I think I've pretty much always had the same feelings about him. I respect him because he taught me a great deal, but I've never really trusted him. Xan is a weird guy - I don't think anyone in CT could say they ever knew his true feelings about them.

If it wasn't for Xan - I wouldn't be an officer of Celestial Tomb.

A CT thread on the new boards? I guess I should at least say hello. I'm sure a few of ya remember me...at least I hope!

When it was time to retire, I have to admit, ebay did cross my mind for a second...but luckily, though the extra cash would have been nice, I didn't really need it. I do not however blame anyone for ebaying as long as all usuable droppable items were given back to the guild. To each their own.

Btw I saw Rizelle in a screenshot on the CT homepage recently...which was really cool :) . I've quit EQ but the message boards are a great help passing some freetime at work.

Xan did what he did, people did not like him because when they were idiots he told them so. /em shrug. He planned and lead raids, put up with shit that no one in their right mind would want as a result of being a GM, and he was fairly solid about balancing loot distro ( Not like we saw from some other guilds) CT has had 3 GL, and now a 4th. Bandog owned, Sirton was okay at first then absent mostly while Xan led raids, Xan, and now Zairus. Zairus may in the future surpass Xan, or he may get fed up of the BS and quit (and I would not blame him) but as it stands for all the faults people lay on him, he was the second most effective guildleader on Veeshan. If you figure in the fact that FoH came over as a force to EQ from another game, he was just as effective.

I hate the ebay thing, but he is an adult, and I am not his father.

This is just a small observation, not meant to be a compliment or an insult.

CT had 45 members online on a Sunday at noon, to me that is impressive numbers.

Despite kyoukan's dirty underwear smelling things up, CT is as solid as it's ever been with the added bonus of cooperating with other guilds as opposed to steamrolling them. (allegedly)

How you been? ^_^

Yeah, I've been gone for some time now, but I can totally imagine CT being a much more congenial guild with a few former key players like Xanupox and Xtacidia gone. By and large, they're nice peeps, but the actions of a few in power gave the guild as a whole a horrible rep.

The Final Words

Post by Xanupox »

My last post on this sore, sore topic.

First of all, EQ as we know it has passed 3 years of post beta. This is the average duration of "newism" in a game of this magnitude. No matter what expansion or content is added, the new feeling will never be there again.

As such, when EQ's competition is released, new products such as Shadowbane, City of Heroes, Worlds of Warcraft, and *gasp* Starwars Galaxies... this will draw waves away, a practical exodus from EQ. Right now I will be willing to bet a good 40-50% of the people you know in EQ, especially at the high end game are just using EQ as a life support "fix" until the next big title is released, then they too will jump ship.

So here is your scenario.

Accounts, and items right now as we speak are on a slight downslide as far as value is concerned. A few keen and savy people have foreseen this exodus from EQ and have pre-sold and liqudated thier assets in the game. (including me)

I predict by the end of this year, what you could have sold in EQ 6 months ago to aquire $100 USD, will be worth about $10 USD. The market will be flooded with items and accounts, as these new game titles are released, at the same time the "desire" to purchase items in the dieing game of EQ will dramatically decrease.

A few people ask me why I sold when I did, and why other means could not have been used.

I sold when I did, because I saw the end of EQ coming with the titles that will be released this fall, most effective at drawing EQ players will be SWG. I knew from past experience the value of items and accounts would plummet, due to a competitive game being released.

I used to play Ultima Online, well before EQ. I had an account only you could have dreamed of at the time UO was in its prime. The value on Ebay for an account such as mine could have easily pulled in over $5-6k dollars US. I waited, waited, watched the game die... watched players leave it to go play AC, EQ, and other things. When I looked around, only seeing a dead game and the action elsewhere, I was barely able to scrap up $900.00 USD for all my items, accounts. Pitiful.

My advice to you, if you want it. If you know right now, that you will NOT be playing EQ 6 months from now.. then sell all your items, piece by piece, anything droppable. Then sell lesser demand items in game for platinum, sell that plat on PA for $, then you will have established a good rep on the auction, sell your accounts. I was able to sell Xan on a private sell to a past customer.

Sure some of you will bitch and moan, call me ebay scum, sell out .. all I have to say is whatever. The guild did not need any item I had or sold that was droppable. I was in no way going to "donate" my character to the guild, as I saw no one capable of playing "Xanupox" the way he was intended to be played. I learned from my UO experience that the time to sell was in May/June... not hanging onto the account until doomsday hits EQ and losing 90% of my perspective profits.

Love me, Respect me, Hate me, Spit in my general direction... it does not matter, because I have seen it all tossed my way.

Just remember to reserve this same level of anger for the 60% of the people you play with right now when they steadily leave this game over the next 6 months. Spread the hate evenly, or you will find yourself on MY side of the glass looking out.

Xan! You should start some sort of new kind of business with all this buy sell knowledge you have!

The time to sell in EQ was in the first year. Everythings value in EQ drops simply because - the item will keep dropping (every once and awhile you get an item that is eventually nerfed) - but for the most part - Once something drops it drops again and again and again - creating less demand for the item.

Another good time to sell would be right when a new expansion comes out - droppable items from the new zones always have more value. Hell even flowing thought boots are depleting in value.

I believe tormax boots could have been used by several people in the guild.

No I will not sell in 6 months or ever. Hell I used to play a game called Gemstone III a text based roleplaying game - Just 2 months ago I was offered 2k for all my stuff in a game I do not play, I said no. Call me stupid - I probably am for this - I just will never be able to justify any amount of money to the time I put into EQ or GSIII.

You have defined the essence of lewt whorishness. The only value this game had to you was the "strut factor" of your gimps and once that faded, the cizash value on e-Bay. You place no value on the people you met and fought and died with in-game. I find this quite sad.

I no longer hate you, Xan; I pity you.

I guess if ya need the cash, it doesnt bother me if people Ebay.

To me what more gay than selling equip/accounts are those that buy it. I mean wtf, spending thousands of dollars to play a video game? Pretty funny. Not too mention, where is the fun in that? Some of the fondest memories I have of EQ was L1-20, granted that was well before the days of the "twink" and things were new to everyone, but still, it was an expeiriance everyone should have. Its fun.

As far as Xan, well whatever,...he's gone now, thats part of CT is done.
Im an officer of CT and guild bank auditor, and we arent hurting at all heh.
Sure, he sold some items we no doubt could have used, but its not that big a deal really, to me the only thing that stunk about it, was how much these same actions used to drive Xan insaine, when he in fact had every intention of doing it at some point as well, heh,...like I said, whatever.

OK are you saying Masai = Kaluaian?

all i want to know is this: is this Kal the same Kal i was grouping in the 30s in guk?

thanks for your patronage :)

Masai did not post in this thread - Winnow was making an inside (CT) joke.

Heh,..still people are confused.

Ok,..I played Sueven till L56, I was the original Sueven.
About the start of Velious, I had RL issues that forced me out of the game, and at that time I thought it was permanent, so I gave my account to the original Kaluian.

Well RL cleared up for me 3 months later, and I came back,..well Kaluian had made Sueven is main because I was really close to my Epic when I left, and he finished it. So when I came back, I would have felt bad taking Sueven back, cause he had finished the Epic, so I let him keep Sueven, and he gave me Kaluian.

I have been Kaluian ever since.

I am a female, Kaluian (the original) was a male.
I didnt tell ANYONE I was a female till a year or so after I started playing, and after I joined CT. EQ was my first video game to play, and I thought a male charecter would have some sort of advantage being melee, plus my ex BF who started me on EQ suggested I play a male charecter to avoid the "Dsmith" types.

Anyways, thats the story :?

edit, on a side note, I remember when you two made the swap. Seeing as I knew you from way back in like unrest, and mistmoore, and guk...when we were wee lil noobs, in sdoh and fs and the like.

I actually became friends with sueven (former kal) after the switch.

I'll admit though, I was confused as hell for a little while.

Earth to Tom! EQ is not suuposed to make you money IRL! <gasp> If you wanted to make cash, get a fucking part time job mopping jizz off the floors in a local porn theater. I could give 2 fucks about you taking your personal character and shit you got on your own and selling it. But you fucking know your ass took shit from the guild and sold it for your own profit.

Just recent auctions were TWO Cloaks of Flame. When did you camp those solo? I know you equipped Trevor and some other friends with high end shit. How much did you get for Zindell and all the guild gear that was on her? What about Oraga? How many other friend's did you have that you loaded down? You really turned into a piece of shit.

You won't see my account for sale. If anything, it will go to a friend or the guild when I am done. Because THAT is what being a team player is about.

XAN

you know there is still people out there to play eq for other purposes than making so much money out of it as possible when you see the end of the game.

and selling stuff not nodrop really sucks since they can be needed within guild

i guess if you are an officer you can award loot to yourself and carefully plan how to make your account be worth more bucks

Even if I have not know you in game or has been in CT your post here was a fucking joke.
I would have been ashamed even to post on this board if I were you.
