The Kills - Midnight Bloom

So the other day I took a chance and headed down to Dublin to see a band called The Kills.

The guitarist is the boyfriend of supermodel Kate Moss, but don't hold that against him. Seriously.

I have the album and there is a few good tracks on it, most notably "last day of magic". Which is simply a fucking awesome song. A lot of the album did seem to me to be full of filler tracks, but now that I've seen the band live it all makes sense.

The songs simply don't translate well to CD. This is a live band. A live band that's as good as any band I've ever seen.

The female vocalists voice is pitch perfect, and sounds ridiculously cool. Cool is the word to describe this band.

The main event so to speak is the guitarist. I haven't seen a guitarist play this well since....well....never. I've seen amazing guitarists like Jimi Hendrix etc on tv/cds/internet etc over the years and I really would rate this guy as arguably the most interesting guitarist around today.

He beats the guitar up, throws it around, fucks it and leaves it for dead, like a dirty whore gasping for more.

If the Kills do an American tour, this would be one unknown criminally ignored band to check out.

Most exciting gig I've been to in years. Easily. Utterly fantastic. Anyone who loves rock music should be prepared to have their ears melted with delightful orgasmic violent bliss.

They are good live I got a chance to see them twice when they came here for a festival a few months back. I like their first album, Keep on Your Mean Side, the best.

Yeah they really were fantastic live. Astounding. That guitarist is about as good as it gets. :O
