Blix says Iraq is smuggling weapons

Post by Krimson Klaw »

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,75491,00.html

"Earlier in the day, Chief U.N. Weapons Inspector Hans Blix revealed that his teams have discovered evidence that weapons-related smuggling is going on in Iraq in violation of Security Council resolutions"

I think this is funny. What do they expect this country to do, just brace for impact like a good little punching bag??? I am all for attacking Iraq with proof shown to the world that he poses a threat to the USA or if they actually found a Qaeda training camp there.....but to actually expect him to hold up his chin while we punch him is just rediculous.

Our building up of forces right on Iraqs border, without UN proof that iraq has WOMD is no violation, but Iraq bringing in weapons to defend his country is? Give me a break, this was not newsworthy.

It is news worthy...it violates a treaty therefore allowing for justification for war.

And every news headline saying Blix said there was no "smoking gun" in Iraq WAS newsworthy? Did anyone actually expect his dumbass to find weapons the Iraqis have had years to hide?

I agree with you Krim. If I knew that some country was going to invade my country I'd do all I could to prepare for it.

btw, I like your new avatar. :)

Morgrym, N Korea just violated some treaties as well. Guess it's time to send in the troops?

Guess it's time to negotiate w/ North Korea since they're actually showing a willingness to negotiate. BTW we are talking w/ North Korea about giving them power aid (not the drink smartasses) in exchange for them shutting down their nuclear reactors.

Bush is not showing any willingness to negotiate with N Korea.

It basically: Shut down your reactors then we might talk to you.
Bush is doing a piss poor job in dealing with North Korea.

North Korea's moves up to this point have been calculated to get just the response they have. The timing and presentation were perfect.

Let's make some noise, stir up some concern and then negotiate for what we actually want, which in my opinion is assistance from the US to keep their country afloat for a while longer.

But this way, they can save face by being the aggresor and the USofAlmightyDollar can come in to offer "peaceful settlement" and North Korea can couch it as something other than it is. Such as "America knows it can't fight on two fronts, so we have won a battle over the Imperialist dogs."

North Korea demands talks to break deadlock
Tuesday, January 14, 2003 Posted: 10:15 AM EST (1515 GMT)

The White House said Monday that the United States would consider helping the North with its energy problems if Pyongyang took "verifiable" and "irreversible" steps to prove it was not developing nuclear weapons.

That's negotiating, not in the proper channels, but it is negotiating. Thanks for the post Miir.

Bush *almost* screwed the pooch with N. Korea when he made his idiotic "Axis of Evil" speech. Way to open up the possibility of diplomatic relations there, smart guy.

Fortunately, Bush's advisors seem to have realized that Korea is still willing to step down their aggressive efforts in exchange for sovereign recognition. It remains to be seen how well Bush will pull off talks with Kim, but at least he's headed back in the right direction.

What a fucking tool this Lyse Doucet is. Could he possibly have anymore bias in the questions he is asking?

Lyse Doucet: Hello Hans.

Hans: Hi.

Lyse Doucet: So your saying that President Bush calls daily begging you to find the missing gun?

Hans: I said Hi.

Lyse Doucet: So your saying you feel like a side show freak getting paid $1.50 /hr to shit in a cage and making pig noises?

But there have been a considerable amount of imports in the weapons sector which clearly is smuggling and in violation, and we have found large quantities.
Interesting. The term used in the preceding paragraph is weapons-grade material, usually meaning nuclear material.

Wonder what they found?

I'm glad you are impressed with the reporter, Forthe. That is the most leading series of questions I have seen in a while.

I didn't say anything regarding the interviewer or even the interview you retard. Rather I pointed you to the whole interview and that was all.

Well I do enjoy bbc news coverage, its seems to be free from government influence, so I threw that in there.

You can now go back to the ignorance that the snipets from the AP provides you.

Easy boy! Down!

I found the bit about the smuggling of weapons grade material very interesting. What the hell did they find?

As for that 'hack job' being better than a Fox 'hack job'.......

Well, the difference between N Korea and Iraq.. Iraq has oil that once we occupy the country we can begin pumping to restore the damages, flip the bill for countries like Turkey and ourselves even, overflow the world market per barrel of crude and drop gas prices... its all worth it really.

Oh yeah, to liberate the oppressed Iraqis and Kurds while we are at it.

North Korea.. just pull out all our troops from the penninsula, and then drop a few tacticle nukes.. dont need that area anyway.
