Grabbed this off the newgroups to check out as I've never played a DMC game before.
30+ minutes into the game I think I've actually played 5 minutes and the rest has been cut scenes.
Production Value is very high in this game. I'm not really into the characters like in FF games but the quality is the same except this game doesn't have horrific jaggies like FFXII. Can't wait for FFXIII and maybe even Lost Odyssey next week.
Not into hack and slash games but if you are, I suppose this is the best one. You can spend red orb points to skill up in various areas which require you to remember a bunch of button/stick combinations.
Menus etc are all first rate.
I'm not too far in but the story hasn't grabbed me yet. The female in the story looks like she'd already drop her panties for the main character so I'm not sure what the appeal is there storywise. She sings a nice opera type song during the opening credits and there's nice movie quality music (soothing religious/mystical type) playing while navigating the menus.
It looks like some skill might be involved but can't tell yet if you can just button smash your way to victory.
Fixed camera angles will irritate you a bit (maybe a lot). Can't rotate camera in some areas. The character models and especially background scenery is very nice but you can't fully enjoy it with the locked down camera view. Most annoying is entering a new area and having the camera placed in front of you...I'd like to see where I'm going, not look at myself running.
I also have a problem with the mobs. So far they look ridiculous. They have legs....the rest of the design looks like it comes from a combination Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata mob designs.
After defeating a group of mobs I had to destroy the entire room (shelves, barrels, benches, crates, etc) to gather bonus/powerups, ect. I'd much rater get the rewards automatically off the mobs than spend a lot of time destroying furniture and objects. (Blue Dragon suffered from this as well)
Pros
-beautiful environments
-high quality cut scenes
-atmospheric music
-menus/UI well done
-decent set of skills/abilities to earn if you like memorizing key combos
Cons
-mobs look dumb which lessons the entertainment of killing them IMO
-story not very engaging
-fixed camera angles/view will drive you nuts at times
-character feels overpowered
-camera angle changes on you often causing some disorientation
-have to run around smashing everything in sight to see if there are orbs, power ups, etc. Gets boring beating up barrels and crates.

Hah, while miir does have a point, Winnow does too. I played the demo for this and it was exactly like every other DMC game I have played. These games are so simplistic and repetitive in nature that you really don't need to play much to understand how the game is going to be, cause it's just the same shit over and over..
From what I saw on the demo, this game was exactly like DMC3, including the graphics. I would definitely rent this one if you are interested, the replay value is about zero.

How much do I need to see? The only thing that can change is the look of the mobs. The camera angles, button combos (unless you can break out a Rock Band Drum set and play the second half with it), menus, overall production value most likely will stay the same. I said the story hadn't engaged me "yet". Unless you're a retard, there's nothing final about that and you can take away what you will from it after watching 40 minutes of cut scenes.
Maybe you'll smash less barrels and furniture later on?
-COD4 tutorial was OK. I didn't get quite as excited as most did driving around in the car and being shot though.
-NFS Pro Street: Saw a YouTube vid of it and didn't bother downloading it. 1/10 based on complex extrapolations.
PS: maybe throw in a little viva pinata into the mob designs
