ROCHESTER, N.H. -- An armed man has taken two campaign workers hostage at the Hillary Clinton campaign office in Rochester, police said.

Officials with the campaign confirmed that there were two workers taken hostage in the office on 28 North Main St.. A woman and her baby told workers at a neighboring business that she was released by the hostage-taker.

"A young woman with a 6-month or 8-month-old infant came rushing into the store just in tears, and she said, 'You need to call 911. A man has just walked into the Clinton office, opened his coat and showed us a bomb strapped to his chest with duct tape,'" witness Lettie Tzizik said.

There are several police officers positioned across the street from the office, crouched down behind cruisers with guns drawn, according to a reported at the scene.

"I walked out and I immediately started running, and I saw that the road was blocked off. They told me run and keep going," said Cassandra Hamilton, who works in an office adjacent to the building.

Nearby businesses have been evacuated, and the St. Elizabeth Seton School has been locked down.

"There are sharp shooters on the roof, and police are negotiating with someone in the building," said another witness, who did not want to be identified. "The police are notifying all the business owners on the street to evacuate. There are fire trucks behind the Hillary Clinton office."

Clinton, who is not in New Hampshire, is attending a National Democratic Committee meeting in Virginia. Presidential candidate Barack Obama also has an office in Rochester, and it has been evacuated. There were no reports of any injuries.

Anyone seen Winnow recently?

Edit: in before the conspiracy theories start that Hillary planned this.

Also, nice reporting from CNN.
Witnesses described the man as in his 40s with salt-and-pepper hair, WMUR reported.

Salt and pepper is a generally accepted description of someone who is halfway to pure white hair, as in they have black and white hairs...

Pretty amazing that a baby can talk!

This was probably staged by Hillary's people to get some sympathy votes or as a diversionary tactic because she's sucking so bad right now.

Why would someone blow up a bunch of nobodies in a campaign office? It's staged!

I wouldn't put it past Hillary to use volunteer suicide bombers to advance her cause they way things are going with the campaign.

Watch Hillary's numbers soar. She was probably hoping for a maimed victim from this to stand up on stage with her to gain even more sympathy votes. Having a disfigured person beside her would artificially enhance her looks as well.

So lame.

If Guiliani wants to put his money where his campaign's mouth is (so to speak)...his people would take care of the terrorist hostage situation.

It's a tragic situation, sorry I don't have anything constructive to say (would it even do any good?).

Just like that picture of Bush beside the horrifically burnt chaps at Walter Reed.

Hillary's got to be pissed that the top headline banner on CNN changed to:
Legendary motorcycle stuntman Evel Knievel died Friday, according to evelknievel.com
and that the little picture on the left doesn't include one of her campaign signs anymore.

I doubt she's too pissed, since this is essentially the main story on every global news channel at the moment.

Unconfirmed reports on BBC news 24 are saying that the hostage taker's son claims there is no C4 and the "bombs" are just "road side flares", also that his dad has been drinking for 48 hours and is effectively a mentalist.

Edit: Poor Evil Kinevel (I guess Kanye West should be happy though).

This cracks me up for some reason:
Hostage suspect sued in 2002, saying priest raped him

ROCHESTER, New Hampshire (CNN) -- The man who held hostages Friday at a New Hampshire campaign office of Sen. Hillary Clinton alleged in a 2002 lawsuit that he was raped by a parish priest.

On Friday, 46-year-old Leeland Eisenberg walked into the office with what he said was a bomb strapped to his chest. It turned out to be road flares held with duct tape, police said.

Five people inside the office, including a small child, were eventually released unharmed by the time the incident ended more than five hours later.

Before Eisenberg, of Somersworth, New Hampshire, surrendered to police, he complained about his inability to get mental health treatment.

Eisenberg filed the lawsuit in September 2002 against the Boston Archdiocese, naming then-Archbishop Cardinal Bernard Law as a defendant.

Law resigned that year amid public outrage after court documents showed he moved priests from parish to parish without disclosing sexual-abuse allegations against them.

According to the lawsuit, Eisenberg was about 21, homeless and living in abandoned cars in a junkyard in Ayer, Massachusetts, when he went to the Roman Catholic Parish of St. Catherine of Alexandria in Westford, looking for housing and support.

He told the senior priest at the parish about his homelessness, "the loss of his mother and the abuse he suffered at the hands of his violent, alcoholic father," the lawsuit says.

A legal source involved with the case told CNN that Eisenberg also was addicted to alcohol and drugs.

Eisenberg was hired as a painter and given room and board until he could be on his own. According to the lawsuit, a priest at the parish would show Eisenberg pornographic materials, then molest him.

One night, after Eisenberg got drunk at a club, the priest picked him up in a car. On the ride home, Eisenberg passed out, and when he awakened, he found himself being raped in the driveway of the parish, the lawsuit says.

The document says that one week after the alleged incident, Eisenberg tried to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge in Ayer. Afterward, he went to a psychiatric facility for observation and treatment.
Priest rapings aren't just for the young anymore! I'd say it's not safe to go near priests until your age 50 or older.

I just laughed again about it.

What's not funny?

Who cares if he was raped by a priest? EVERYONE is either molested or raped by a priest these days that is dumb enough to come in contact with one. At this point, you've got to be a fucking moron to go anywhere near a church.

And as for the whole Hillary suicide bomb story. The only tragedy is that it got so much press and grabbed headlines much longer than it should have.
