I disagree. I think showing how their powers developed added a bit more depth to them. Nothing earth shattering of course, they're still pretty weak characters.
I keep trying to like them, only because I want to see what is going to happen with Sylar and they are obviously involved with him. However I get so fucking bored with them because all that happens is she flips out and kills people, almost like real ultimate power or something.
[Show]
I didn't think seeing her flip out on her brother's cheating, whoring wife was that surprising, hey look... she flipped out... and people died. Also, DL's scenes were just fucking aweful, I read a lot of Nikki/DL hating from back in Season 1 and I mostly shrugged it off, but it left me with a rather huge WTF face after it happened.
So aside from the spoiler stuff and *anything* that involves Wes(t?) and Claire, I've liked most of the season so far and am interested in how things turn out.

Well, the mexicans thing... not only are they completely fucking boring; there was enough content so far with them to fill 10 mins total, but I'm sick to death of subtitles in this series. With Hiro/Ando in series 1 it was kinda tolerable as they were pretty damn entertaining, but it started to get more annoying about the time they both could speak english and didn't, and the same with Hiro/Adam.... what the fuck? Are they speaking Japanese for the benefit of henchman_002 standing around?

I like to watch TV in general as a "background" activity, in that I'll be playing WoW, cutting code, working, reading VV, and "watching" TV. Just pisses me off to have to rewind because all of a sudden in a series out of the US someone has decided to speak in subtitles at random.

That whine out of the way... everyone so far is suffering from "OMFG, they picked us up for a second season" syndrome. Tim needs a) someone around to peer review his scripts that isn't sucking his cock, or b) a swift kick in the balls. The only storyline that has progressed in this season is Hiro/Adam, which people seemed to hate but I had no real problem with as I like both characters... oh well.

I think it's valid, I don't mind subtitles when I made a decision to watch a movie that I know is subtitled ahead of time, but to have them to any extent in a tv show I am not as fond of. I don't want to concentrate on a tv show like I would on a movie, generally when I'm watching a tv show im doing something else too (even during heroes.)

Sounds like you should sign up for Described TV for the visually impaired. I've never had any issue with subtitles, pre-planned or surprise ones. Personally I like the fact that they're speaking their native language instead of miraculously speaking english even tho they're from a backwater country like Honduras. It's like Star Trek... great, a universal translator. Then why can Klingons still say Kaplah!

I don't like the wonder twins subtitles because they are big and ugly yellow. Oh noes I'm waging more creative-terrorism on the artists!

Other than that I don't mind subtitles. I prefer them over dubbing when watching a foreign film

Totally... I'll sit around all day and watch movies out of Japan/Hong Kong/etc with subtitles, and I prefer hearing the actors actual voices rather than some ridiculous dubbing.

It's not a general objection to subtitles, it's subtitles in a TV show made in an english speaking country that I can "watch" with my ears 99% of the time if you discount the subtitles.

As to being "artful", sure, whatever. I'm amused that one of the wonder twins speaks fluent english and the other couldn't order a coke and a burger.

I'll agree that Japanese deserves subtitles while Spanish just doesn't cut it. Who wants to hear that jibberish? Speak English!

Apologies to the female Spanish speakers that may sound sexy. I'll still sleep with you. Spanish speaking people sound better when they speak English with an accent. The Frenchys as well!

I barely notice the Spanish subtitles, but I have to pay closer attention to the Japanese subtitles. I guess it is because I understand a lot of the Spanish. My only complaint about the subtitles has come up more with the Japanese. They place the text in different areas of the screen, and I am guessing that they do this to make you feel like you are not having your attention dragged away from the action on screen. In doing so, they really need to do something to ensure that the text is not lost to backgrounds that are the same color. I can remember several situations where the white text used for Ando and Hiro was lost to white clothing or walls.

Actually, the Japanese subtitles were placed in order to simulate speech bubbles in a comic book I think. They couldn't put the actual bubbles in, but I thought placing the text as if there were bubbles was fairly clever.

Good episode. Lots of shit happened and people changed instead of more of the same. The story moved along some.

Looking forward to the last two episodes in this volume.

I was about ready to break something if HRG actually died. How about the red herring they gave us? Ned Sanders was taking Claire's blood, and then we see HRG getting blood and healing. The implication is it's Claire's, but I think it was Adam's blood, which would explain the crazy room when we just got done seeing Elle, Mohinder, and Ned driving away.
George Takei should have been saved. I don't give a shit about fate, you save your father's life, and damn the timeline! Besides, if fate had anything to do with it, then Hiro wouldn't use his time traveling powers in the first place. The whole idea behind that power was to 'fix' the nuclear disaster of New York. Now, all of a sudden, it's improper? Bullshit.

Emo-boy redeemed himself, in my eyes at least. I started to like him a little when he didn't just parade around and actually did something for once.

We now have two reunions to look forward to: Claire and her father, and then Peter and Nathan. I'm anticipating both.

Matt's evolution of his power is very interesting, and seems to be adding a slightly dark side to his character. I like it; it gives him a different dimension, and shows how slippery the slope is towards what his father did and what he's doing (working for the 'greater' good).

And the previews for next week, with Hiro sneaking up on Peter? Sounds like Hiro found out about Peter working with Adam, there's gonna be a showdown! If both parties can time travel, can they cancel each other out? Is a battle between those foes simply a matter of whoever freezes time first?

A good episode, can't wait till next week.

I'm still not convinced that Adam is bad.. The people he is killing off are all bad, some worse than others, so maybe there is a justifiiable reason.

Mohinder is a worthless pussy and after his little stunt I really hope he dies soon. Way to let them brainwash you to think that somehow they are the good guys.. I mean come on.

Emo boy is still annoying, and should still be killed off somehow.. Really honestly I wouldn't mind seeing claire go sometime soon either, I don't buy into her being the "key" to a damn thing, especially because she isn't the only one with healing powers, and I just wish they would entirely remove the teenie bopper element from this show tbh.

Overall though I liked the episode, nice to see that the show is going to actually go somewhere.

Here is my question though - writers are replaced on shows all the time... Why not treat this "strike" like Northwest Airlines did and tell all the writers to get fucked, and hire new ones? I cannot possibly wrap my mind around what would possess them to think they should be any higher paid than they are.. They are not what sells the show, the actors are, and like I said - I feel that writers for most shows are completely replaceable. Just don't let them fuck up heroes damnit!

Interesting interview with Hayden Panettiere in GQ magazine. She seems down to earth so far. Picture slideshow isn't bad either.

http://men.style.com/gq/features/landin ... ntent_6202

Slow news day.
Hayden Panettiere is weary of paparazzi and celebrity meltdowns. And at only 18 years old, this Heroes star in it for the long haul, which is fine by us

So tell us, Hayden—when do you intend to become the latest screwed-up girl in Hollywood?
Never, never. Cross our fingers.

We can’t schedule it for your twenty-first birthday or anything like that?
You can’t schedule rehab for me. And I don’t think you can schedule any DUIs. I think I’m going to be one of those boring girls.

Will you at least go into a gas-station bathroom without shoes on?
No, that’s disgusting. I’ve walked around other places maybe without my shoes on, but not bathrooms.

Tell us what your past couple of years have been like, since Heroes began.
This business tends to turn your life upside down. For some strange reason, I’ve become one of the targets of the paparazzi. Things get crazy. You try and hold on to that little part of normal that you can.

It seems, in a weird way, that we’re all pushing these young women toward meltdowns.
Absolutely. Britney Spears, for example. That girl was the epitome of beauty when I was younger. And we built her up and just ripped her down, put every aspect of her life under a microscope. Probably made 90 percent of the stuff up along the way. I can’t even imagine if I had it like she does. She’s someone that I’m rooting for, and I hope she can make that comeback.

Well, things are much better for you. You’re on a hit TV show. When are you going to ask NBC for the big bucks?
Riiiight? I don’t know! Dude, you and me both! I wanna ask. We’ll see what happens.

Look, you’re the biggest star on NBC. You need to ask for a million an episode.
I would feel bad about myself if I got a million an episode.

It worked for the Friends, you know.
Dude, they got Porsches. We got a poker set last year!

That’s not cool. You need a Porsche.
Actually I already have one of those. But I’m going to get rid of it. I’m going to get a Prius.

You’re such a cliché.
I know. You know what, though? The Porsche sticks out like a sore thumb. A nice Prius will fit right in.

What color’s your Porsche?
Merlot.

The actual color is called Merlot?
Well, it’s called something complicated, but it literally is like the color of Merlot.

Hayden, you’re 18. You’re not supposed to know what color Merlot is.
I’m Italian, all right? We were raised the Italian way. I have tasted alcohol. I know what it looks like. Don’t be naive here.

What’s the craziest rumor you’ve read about yourself?
Well, now that I’m single, it’s like I’m dating every male I’m standing next to—and possibly every female.

You had to figure the lesbian rumor was coming.
Actually, that’s probably the least of my concerns. That would be a pretty funny one.

So you are definitely single.
Yes.

And you’re not dating your Heroes costar Milo Ventimiglia, which is the gossip that’s flying around about you?
No, I’m not. I love my castmates, and I adore Milo. He’s awesome, but we’re easy targets. We’re both young, and he’s one of the only people on the show not married with children.

What would be a good rumor to start about you? If someone were to put you together with a leading man, who would it be?
God, it could be anyone from Leo DiCaprio to Justin Timberlake—or any girl. You want to make me a lesbian? That’s totally fine with me.

Okay. Well, who would be good?
Um, let’s see. We could do a love affair with Angelina. We could do… Oh gosh, I love—there are so many beautiful girls. Charlize Theron. Oh, my God. Kate Beckinsale is gorgeous. Jessica Alba.

Here’s some real gossip: Last year you came to our GQ Men of the Year party with B. J. Novak from The Office.
I did! It was so random. It was the first night I ever met him. And he called up and asked me to go, and I was like, “Uh, okay, sounds fun!”

Was it a date?
I don’t know. I didn’t ask. I enjoyed the party. And he’s a very nice guy.

Did he make any moves?
No!

Was there a second date?
I’ve not personally gone out with him, no.

Can we spread that rumor?
B. J. Novak? His girlfriend—if he still has a girlfriend—would not be so happy about that one.

What are your New Year’s plans?
I don’t know. I think I’m actually going to go visit a friend up north for the end of Christmas.

Angelina?
Yeah, right. I wish. No.

And you’re just going to drink club soda or pomegranate juice.
Riiight.

So you’re not going to tell us when you’re going to get into trouble?
I get into trouble on my own time, when nobody’s looking. Not bad trouble, though—good trouble.

So it’s clear you’re not interested in being the flavor of the month. You want to grow old in Hollywood, become a grande dame.
Absolutely.

So what are you going to do for your seventieth birthday party?
I hope I’m in Italy drinking wine with good friends and family. I better be legal by then.

Thank God one of the siblings died. Maya should follow soon!

I'm wondering at the trick that NBC will be playing on us. Their teaser for next week said, "Two heroes will fall". What does that mean? Sylar fell, Matt fell, DL fell at the season finale last season, and only one of them died (and not even from the Linderman bullet). I'm wondering if it's just a publicity stunt, or if Heroes really are going to die. All I'm going to say is, it better not be Nathan. They haven't given him enough screen time this season, he can't be kicking it now.

Who do you guys think? Is there anyone you'd wish to see go the way of the Dodo bird?

My predictions:

Adam is a Hero and he'll die (beheaded by Hiro) so that's one.

Jessica/Mustang Sally would be my guess as the other while rescuing St Joan (Copycat Girl).

I was going to guess that either peter or hiro will die (I would be pissed about either) - I don't think it will be Adam because he hasn't been solidified as a "hero" in anyones eyes ( at least I don't think so). Honestly I hope they aren't just doing this to get a sense of progress since the season will be ending soon, just senselessly killing people off will be retarded.

I think suresh is retarded and needs to go before he can cause anymore damage, I think they need to get rid of maya asap but unfortunately im starting to think they might keep her around. And even though I severely doubt they will do it, I would like to see clair gone sometime soon.

I don't know about Sylar, in the preview they said "A villain will rise" while showing a picture of him beckoning at the sky, lol. I think he is going to be around for a while yet, but I could be wrong!

If I recall correctly, in next week's preview, it looked like Sylar had just injected himself with something which could be Claire's blood.

Also, I think Sylar has powers and used them to stop the Hispanic chick from killing, but making her think she could control her power. (if you recall, he reached up and touched her while she was using her powers) So my guess what happens in a later episode is that she'll use her power, thinking she can stop it herself, and not be able to.

Sylar is going to leave and not be present for the good majority of the second half of season 2. Kring said he will return for a few episodes near the end of the season, so my guess is, we'll see him off during the finale to wherever he is going.
Sylar's powers are dormant, that's why he's seeking out Suresh. I think Maya really did control her powers, because Sylar was there compelling her to do so. I think if she finds out she lost her brother, that control with evaporate in a heartbeat.
The virus will be contained in the mid-season finale, but I think Maya's power will be the central focus of the second half. I'm resigning myself to the fact that she'll be around for quite a while.

I don't know about Sylar, in the preview they said "A villain will rise" while showing a picture of him beckoning at the sky, lol. I think he is going to be around for a while yet, but I could be wrong!
My DVR cuts off the fucking preview, I hate it. Having read what you typed, makes me rethink the whole offing Sylar.

sylar has the true control of her power now. all he has to say is "i killed your bro" or even just "your bro is dead" and she'll go all oily eyed apeshit up-ins and wont be able to turn it off.

i am glad this show doesnt suck anymore. I am still dead fucking sick of anything relating to Nikki or Micah, though

It could be Nikki that dies (and has a strain of the virus which will go untreated and mutate with dead blood cells). Not sure on the second one, it could be as simple as electro girl doing a 180 and turning good to take a bullet or the like. I still am wracking my brain as to how Sylar knew where to find casa de suresh and molly...I thought they moved to a new location with mr. mind meld. Adam is bad and using Peter like a ten dollar crack whore.

I'm getting increasingly bored with this show and irritated by it's massive plot holes: e.g. We've had Adam in lockup for 30 years, but we *really* needed to get regenerative blood from Claire!

Seriously? Other than the episode I liked 3 weeks ago I thought it still is sucking. And that last episode ending with Hiro yelling and running at Peter with the sword from like 100 feet away? What was that? Totally laughable. I was honestly dumbstruck!

Yeah I thought that was hilarious myself.. Next weeks episode could make or break this show for me tbh, if they kill off anyone that is not one of the douchebags I have previously stated should be killed it could be the last straw for me.

I was disappointed the gang-bangers didn't bust a cap in the Taskmaster chick. The guilt for Micah would have been character building for Micah (who needs to be less boring, this whole plotline is "meh" at best).

I was also confused as to why they needed Claire so badly when they'd had Adam in lockup for 30 years. You'd think they would have had vats of his super-regen blood already.

You mean to tell me that if you had the ability to stop time, that you'd freeze time and then walk over and hack up your enemies while they were helpless? I call bullshit sir.

I think they've shown that Peter is unaffected by this time stop shit because he has the ability as well. Adam on the other hand... chop his head off and go put it in a canadian beer fridge in the next decade and see if he can grow a new one (they imply, Highlander style, that he wouldn't).

Now we just need Hiro to shout "THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!"

Fuck this show.

Way to kill off one of the few fucking interesting heroes left. What is it with this show and their Lost-fetish: on Lost, characters who redeem themselves end up dead at the end of an episode. Heroes is pulling the same shit: DL being a hero then dying, and now Nathan.

Honestly, what a dumb narrative decision. There are at least five heroes who are utterly worthless that you could kill off and I wouldn't have batted an eye, but Nathan? Whatever. I don't know if I really want to tune in now next season.

Well, the writers will be back next season. The way I understood it is that this episode was an "alternate" episode to be filmed only if the writer's strike continued.

A stupid end to a worthless season of a show that I more than likely will never waste another minute watching.

Nathan dying - completely retarded.

Nikki - the only redeeming quality of the show, unfortunately they made the mistake of letting four other worthless cunts live (claire, suresh, electric girl and "I saw it on tv" girl.) And sylar got his powers back (not that I'm all that surprised), which is great, we can repeat the exact same storyline from season 1 during chapter 3. Sylar kills people, something is going to kill the whole world, people team up to stop it, season ends. That will never get old

Not to mention there was enough storyline covered this "season" to actually pass for maybe two episodes (and I think that is even being generous.) They still do not, and never will get the pacing down, I'm done fooling myself into thinking they might catch on.

I had the same thought. Sylar is back. Joy. Back to the first season. How retarded. I've said it on more than one occassion they should have killed him off when they had the chance at the end of the first season. He's like friggin Mumm-Ra. No matter what the Thundercats did he was always back the next show to summon more chaos and destruction.

Niki dying? I don't care. How was she the 'only redeeming quality of the show'? I thought her character was pretty worthless to begin with. Not to mention she had the virus and Sylar stole the 'cure' so she was pretty much dead anyway. I think they killed her off in quite lame fashion (assuming she's even dead) though. I mean the guy lit the fire like 3 minutes before Niki ran into the building. Do beams and shit start falling that soon? I'm no firefighter or anything but come on!

Nathan? Hmm.. I could go either way on that. He was annoying the first half of the second season but seemed to get more interesting as it went on.

And where did HRG get his glasses back from omg they had a hole in them!!

Damnit! I called Nikki and Adam as the ones to die. Hiro pusses out and sticks Adam in a grave...nice!...but he's not dead.

I enjoyed the show but Peter is a dimwit and I'm not sure I want see Sylar (and eventually Adam after Sylar digs him out to help with some big plot later on) again.

This show only works by moving on and getting rid of villains. Clarie was useless the entire season.

Overall, I was still entertained by the second season/volume but I can't image what they're going to do for volume three to make it interesting.

At least the show had an ending. That's a plus with the writer's strike and all.

Her dying was the only redeeming quality of the show, sorry I worded that kinda sloppily.

I agree the on the fire thing as well, I thought it was pretty ridiculous (not only what you mentioned but the size of the explosion was pretty absurd too). I think there is more of a chance of seeing nathan revived in the same fashion bennet was, than of seeing nikki somehow still be alive (at least I hope so.) Nikki, assuming she didn't get out of the fire, is probably now just a bunch of little pieces of bitch crispies scattered all over the street.

I may watch the first couple of episodes next 'volume', but that will probably be it. This show is fucking gay now. I was thinking about last season and how forward I was looking to the nightmare man who turned out to be a 5 minute cameo from some old guy. I did find myself enjoying Sylar a lot in the past few episodes as he is the best actor on the show (says a lot) now. But bringing him back kind of killed it for me, since I was sure he was going to die this episode.
Fuck Michigan!
