VoIP enabled, surprise, it sucks!
It's been enabled on some servers. Sound quality is on par with what you get from 2 tin cans connected by a string.

I don't understand why they wasted all that time and effort for something we players already have. There is nothing wrong with Vent or TS, other than not wanting pug gimps on your server.
Seems like they could have spent the time on more productive things....

I see it more as a learning experiance. The future of MMORPGs and team based games is going to walk arm in arm with voice communication. Even if it sucks now (which it does) I'm sure they will improve on the technology in future patches. Furthermore, I bet future games released by Blizzard will build upon this "alpha" version of voice chat.Neroon wrote:I don't understand why they wasted all that time and effort for something we players already have. So, I don't see it as wasted resources. Far from it really.

I don't give two fucks about Blizzard's future. All I care about right now is WoW, and right now, Zul'Aman could be out instead of this abortion of a feature. It's nice how they removed hardware sound support to cram it in too.

I doubt the team that did the voice features would be the same team to build a new zone.masteen wrote:I don't give two fucks about Blizzard's future. I don't give a shit about in-game VoiP, because as often as it's just Blizzard's servers lagging and not me, I like Vent as a side channel so I can tell people I'm lagging.

From the length of time it takes them to shit out even the simplest of patches, I'd be surprised if there are more than 5 coders on the live team.Boogahz wrote:I doubt the team that did the voice features would be the same team to build a new zone.masteen wrote:I don't give two fucks about Blizzard's future. lol, 5 coders. No, sorry, that's just poor management on Blizzard's part. You act like this is something new.masteen wrote:From the length of time it takes them to shit out even the simplest of patches, I'd be surprised if there are more than 5 coders on the live team.Boogahz wrote:I doubt the team that did the voice features would be the same team to build a new zone.masteen wrote:I don't give two fucks about Blizzard's future. Same thing goes for their expansions "1 year apart" was the claim, Lich King is releasing 22 months after Crusade

22 months for a game expansion?... lame... i'm expected to create an entire single-sign-on system with session management and role based access control and administration all by myself in the span of 2 months. damn i need more money.

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Expansion Pack
Pre-Release
Ships 11/3/08
That could be way off, but it hasn't changed since WotLC was announced.

According to "some inside source I dont know" we wont actually see WotLK until mid-2009 at the earliest. The posted date is pure marketing bullshit in my opinion.Mr Bacon wrote:World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Expansion Pack

Do I believe the source? Shrug. Cant say I do or dont, but historically Blizzard has not met intended timeframe goals. Ill assume 2009 until proven otherwise.

That would definately be on par with the time that they announced BC to the time they released it.
