About a month ago I was visiting Hayley and he insisted that I watch the mini series while I was there. We were both pretty hammered so I didn;t make it all the way through, but I Netflixed it when I got back. I'm almost through the 1st season and I LOVE this show! I am sooo buying this series on DVD.

I think Starbuck as a female was an excellent choice. There is more to play with emotionally in the "family" dynamic between her, Adama, and Apollo. I didn't think I would like her in the mini series, but she is my favorite now.

For those interested, season 2.5 just came out on DvD on the 19th. My mom and I are rabid fans, and we ordered it on Amazon a month ago. It was here on the 20th.
We're already burned through most of the episodes. So far I'm really liking the second half of season 2. As soon we finish it, we are going to watch the webisodes that scifi.com is hosting. These are episodes on the air that should bridge the gap between season 2.5 and season 3, which comes out October 6th. I'm anxiously awaiting.

I ordered Season one on DVD about 2 weeks ago (I had a gift cerfiticate to amazon.com and standard shipment up to canada is snail mail. Gift certificates to amazon.com aren't transferrable to amazon.ca).

Still waiting on it and looking forward to finally seeing these shows.

Why are you calling it 2.5? Anyways, the webisodes are pretty low quality as far as production goes, but it's great to have anything to tide me over until the 7th. The end of season 2 will make you go "buh?".

Because Season 2 was released as two separate 3 disk packages. Season 2.0 and Season 2.5.

They might have "rushed" 2.0 to market since they had that long break in the middle of the season?

I imagine it will feature a lot of humans fighting cylons.

Just a guess tho...

Was a good first 2 episodes. I'm still wishing they hadn't gone this direction, but that won't stop me from being entertained. I'm trying to figure out how Jammer survived without a scratch, he was standing right behind Duck when he blew himself up. Also noticed a pretty glaring error between the webisodes and the actual show... Jammer told the Chief that he was joining the police force. Whoops!

A few of the stories I'm not liking. The Kara (Cara?) thread with her cylon stalker and their "baby" is silly. And the fat make-up on Lee is just bad.

After watching the opening evening of the third season...Wow, this show is only getting better.

I would recommend you catch the webisodes (the resistance) before you see them if you have not.

My guess is being a bomb vest the explosion was not perfectly circular, combined with being partially absorbed by other bodies and it's not that hard to see him surviving. With only 23 dead out of 200 plus people there it obviously couldn't have been that powerful or packed with shrapnel etc to increase the destructiveness.

Personally I really like the direction they are taking this season. If they had left it with the Cylons still chasing them around in space it would have really started straining the plausibility to have them continually defeat or evade the Cylons who have virtually infinate numbers and never tire out. I also think having the Cylons living with the humans now will make it a lot easier to start delving into the politics and relationships in their society/heriarchy as well. I'm still waiting to see if they explain the origin of the Cylons, or the human form ones in particular, at some point in the future.

I like the thought that Jammer is a Cylon.
They have what, 12 models? Or was it 8? Anyhow we have only seen, Hot blonde, hot asian, Xena, the grunge guy stalker, the administrative looking dude, the black doctor guy, and the quantum leap dude. That's only 7 so far.

Also, from the original series Baltar was hated by all. I think they are now bringing that into play. Which is kind of sad because I like that character.

Edited: by request.

This might be the best place to ask this..

In the recent flood of new BSG commercials, they've got a couple different songs playing in the background.. One I know is Nickleback.. another is just instrumental and I can't for the life of me find out what song it is.

Anyone here know?

NBC bought the rights to BSG and are considering running it as a mid season replacement this year for one of it's several failing shows. No real word on details, I just thought it was interesting. Oh yeah, the 3rd season viership is down on BSG as well. Nothing crazy, but any dip is not good for a show, especially when it's only in it's third season.

Heros is doing better and better all the time though. It's viewers keep climbing every week.

It sounds more like it's something actually composed by the guy(s) that did the actual score for the series.

Guessing it's this guy: http://www.bearmccreary.com/

It just sounds a lot like his other stuff...

So I'm reading this thread and (only just finishing season 1) and am like "Oh those evil spoilers tempting me from under those black boxes!" but then see that not everyone has been so kind to hide the spoiler info. *ahemBUBBAahem* Please black it out! I like this show enough to want to experience every surprise!

After I buy the DVDs, Eric is going to start watching with me. I shoo'd him out of the room the other day so he wouldnt know that so-and-so is a Cylon when he starts watching :)

Season 3 commentary:
[Show]
I really hope that the Cylons were just doing a 'show of force' and using blanks or something to scare those people and show mercy... I really liked the former President and Zarek is imho to interesting a character to kill that way.

I'm looking forward to Lee not being a porker anymore. I guess the sex with what's her name isn't as athletic as it is with Starbuck. :P

It looked to me like the boomer/insurgent rendezvous was taking place in more or less the same place as the executions so my guss is the gunfire is, at least partly, the marines taking out the toasters in time to save a few people.

Why would they take the prisoners to a spot right by where the insurgents were being ambushed at the same time? That's just silly IMO. Regardless, we won't be seeing the President or Zarek dying from that I'd say.

I think the secret police are the ones who will fire on the cylons. At least I hope that is the case. I wonder if Tai suspects his wife keeping that map. He looked at her funny for a moment right after she did that.

On another note, I like how they are planning the longevity of the show by having children halfbreeds involved. There are storey lines they can build around that as well.

I was re-watching sections of it last night and-
[Show]
I'm fairly sure that when it shows Cally running at the end it is not the Centurions that open fire, the sound is completely different than their gunfire. If you switch back and forth between when they ambush Boomer and Anders and the end you can hear the difference. Granted this could mean nothing, depends if they use the same sound effects consistantly.
