I spotted a new or unsual car on the road today.

If you have seen a new car today, post it's name/color/etc. It doesn't have to be a unique vehicle but that is always insteresting as are vehicles which undergo a generational change. I saw a black w/ white top FJ Cruiser on my way to work on Friday. My neighbor around the corner from me purchased a new Camry LE. On the way to work this morning, I saw my first 2007 S600 driving in front of me. I have seen many s550's on the road, but this was the first 600.

I saw a new Audi Q7 driving down the road a few weeks ago before I even realized they existed.

I also saw someone drive a $550,000 Mazerati off the lot the other day, it hurt me a little inside, I will admit.

model year = sept - august, if a new car comes out over halfway thru the model year it is designated to the next years production year

yeah, I saw the Fit the other day...and it was really nice looking. The internet pictures do it no justice.

I see all kinds of "penis envy" cars on the road here in DC, and the Fit was by far cooler for some reason...except for that Aston Martin DB5 I see occasionally.

I saw one of those new dodge calibers on the road yesterday. It looked like it had been in a bad accident but upon closer inspection it was just the styling. From behind it looked like those street test prototypes where car companies stick on extra body panels and other shit to disguise the car and make them look ridiculous... but from the front, it was instantly recognizeable as a dodge by it's pickup truck grille.
That thing rivals the pontiac spaztek in terms of sheer ugliness. The ugliness continues on the interior where you'll literally find acres of cheap looking plastic .

busy lunch today for new car spotting
I saw my first ES350 in white, a black A3 (a sharp car imo), and a new Accent in silver

I agree but I guess it keeps people's heads from exploding if all new models(especially generational updates) came out w/in the same three months. Toyota is notorious for releasing their next year models a good 10 months before the year actually arrives.

Took a closer look at one of these cars on the weekend.
The fit and finish on them is just horrible. The gaps between the body panels is worse than on a Saturn... at least Saturns have a reason for the gaps. I could literally run the tip of my index finger a quarter inch deep along the gap between hood and the fender... on both sides. The fit on the interior plastics wasn't much better.
On the plus side, there's a ton of room in the back and the 'cool zone' glovebox is pretty cool, as are the fold down speakers in the tailgate... but they were so flimsy and ill fitting I could see them getting easily broken or being prone to incessant rattling.

Not yet, as I have yet to take delivery of it. Spent a good 3 hours negotiating the deal last night. Since it is a brand new model no deal to be had on the price, but they gave me a laughable offer on my 2004 RX-8. Ended up talking them up 2K for that so I almost broke even on the deal.

It's the Pearl White, with the popular equipment package and the Touring version. It's for my wife, so she the one that picked it out. I just paid for it, and now will drive a 1996 Civic my self ;)

I really like Mazdas.
I'll most likely be picking up a Mazda 5 next month.

My friend was considering the CX7 but ended up going with the Subaru B9 instead.... I normally don't care for SUVs but both of those are really nice.

I saw a squirrel going in and out of 4 lanes of traffic actually make it to the other side of the road today...does that count as unusual?

I saw two Yaris (Yarii?) this weekend, one in white and one in red. Both of them were the four-door versions. Not a bad looking car on the outside and way way more attractive than the Echo.

Yeah, the Yaris is a pretty neat little car. And I agree with you regarding the Echo--that things was ugly! :)

Santa Rosa Antique car show... I saw 350 interesting cars this weekend... and you could stand in front of the brewing company (Russian River Baby!) drinking a beer and watch them cruise, was rather fun

I was stopped behind a Bentley Continental Flying Spur the other day.
He/she took off from the light we were stopped at and was 3/4 of a mile down the road before we got through the intersection. It brought tears to my eyes.

I've been seeing a lot of fj cruisers popping up lately. I also have seen a number of S550's lately, four just spotted yesterday running errands.

i seem to be the only one spotting these days, but who cares. This morning's ride to work was filled with some high priced rides. A silver ford gt, a white bentley continental gt, and the first nsx I've ever seen on the road, in black.

I see all sorts of sweet rides around work.. pretty much every day.

Bentleys galore, a few 760ILs, no less than 3 different Carrera GTs (yellow, silver and red), Aston Martins, Lamboghinis, Ferraris, etc.

Bankers make way too much money

Parked next to a monsterous Rolls Royce at Wal Mart, some lady and (presumably) her kids piled out of it.

Saw a couple very cool cars at the junkyard this weekend while looking for VW parts. A nice Aston Martin and a Nissan pickup that someone had put an Olds Tornado drivetrain in the back of. It was rear engine, rear wheel drive, 4 wheel streering and a lift bed. It was very nicely done, no clue why they scrapped it. I'd bet that little truck with a 455 in the back end just hauled ass, that drivetrain in a full size car was pretty fast.

I passed a Tacoma on the way into work today. This is not the odd part. The odd part was that it had a Safari Snorkel attached!
