Sharapova was only a slight favorite in this match-up, but Venus played amazing. After the first set she managed to keep the same pace and easily took the second set.

I'm more interested in Federer vs. Hewitt today!

I always liked Ivan Lendl back in the day. Screw rushing the net! He had the same style I had of the power baseline game. He lost a lot like me too because of it. With today's racquet technology, Lendl's bullet serves would have been unreturnable.

ACE!

As silly as it may sound, I'm happy whenever the Williams sisters lose. Not because they're black, but because their father is a cocksucking whiny motherfucking racist. Yeah I know they shouldn't be held to the sins of the father, but fuck it. I'd rather they lose than see Richard Williams have any satisfaction through his daughters' successes.

I always cheer for american tennis players in matches. Personally I like the Williams sisters, I think they have been good for the sport - even if they don't have the worlds best dad.

I'm not a big fan of the Williams sisters because of

1. Their father
2. Their allegedly questionable work ethic and multiple side ventures
3. Serena's unceasing desire to shrink-wrap her ass.

I don't care if female athletes dress in skimpy clothes (I like it actually), but Serena is the only female athlete I know who dresses in skimpy clothes and then goes out of her way to spend as much time as possible talking all about her skimpy clothes-- their design, why she chose them, how good she looks in them. Seriously, can we play some fucking tennis?

Andy Roddick's press conferences are enough to make me pull for him.

sharapova gets a lot of media attention for being a total fox who can whoop some serious ass. i enjoy tennis; anything that brings attention to the sport i'm 100% for. and that includes the williams sisters, even though i'm not fans of theirs.

i'm pretty sure serena had/has some sort of fashion design business venture going on the side. in fact, if i'm remembering correctly, she actually designed some of her tennis outfits. most of which i hate, but that's probably why she won't shut up about them.

Tennis is one of the few sports that I enjoy watching women play professionally more than men. On the men's side, the technology combined with the strength of men has made the sport a bit boring whereas on the femal side, you see more interesting volleys.

I'd suggest toning down the power of racquets to make the sport more interesting again on the male side. It wouldn't hurt the sport at all but would increase the entertainment.

i think the men's game is actually fine. a lot of extremely talented players, and some real competitiveness.

most people prefer women's tennis simply because the women wear miniskirts.

let's be real.

That was a great match. Of the 2 Williams sisters, I tend to like Venus more, because she usually doesn't run her fucking mouth as much as her sister. OTOH, Serena is 100% brown sugar, with more T&A than any female athlete should have :D

Watched it this morning. Hewitt played a great match, but Federer is just amazing. There was a point late in the second set when even the announcers were in disbelief.

Roddick really got lucky in the tie break of the fourth set against Johanson!

Was still a great match and I hope Roddick goes on to win the mens championship.

As to mens vs. womens tennis - I like watching womens more, but find both enjoyable.

Coincidentally, both sports where women can excel, and still look hot.

So Venus beat Scott Rolen in the finals? I didn't bother to watch it due to the ugly factor in the finals. Anna needs to make the triumphant return to tennis.
