So, it's probably the most "realistic" street racing game I've played.
Not necessarily because of the driving physics - they're far from real.
But because of the money system. You race for money, you bet on races for money, you have to repair your car and pay entry fees to races and all that good stuff.
If you suck a lot and run out of cash you lose at career mode and get to experience the pleasure of starting over.
The big gamble though, is racing for the pink slip to your car. Building a nice car is no easy task, and the quickest way to get a nice shiny fast new car is to win one.
But, if you lose you can kiss that $60,000 piece of machinery goodbye. You can't cheat by turning off the power to the system if you're losing the race (i've tried). The game even provides an ominous warning against it before the race.
Something like "It's all on the line here and if you start losing and crying and unplug the system I'll still gank your wheels, bitch."
Eeeeeevil game.
But, rewarding when things go right.
7 / 10 seems fitting for a score.

I hope the new Need for Speed game will utilize the "realism" you describe. Personally, the easier it is to relate to real life, the more truly rewarded I feel when successful.
I'd hate Hillary just as much if it was a woman. ┌┘ Winnow
