The way i see it, meat fromt he supermarket is specificly bread and raised to be slaughter, they dont know freedom or a life in the wild, they wouldnt even exsist if they were not mass bread to be slaughtered
but in a sense i am a hypocrite, I cant kill an animal (not even roaches) yet I eat them commonly

Sometimes I miss living in Florida.
Dunno about the green stuff, but I can tell you that roach blood is white. So the white stuff you see is actually blood...

Oh your Kung Fu is weak.Zaelath wrote:Regardless of Toker's moronic Cartalesque swipe at this.. a lot of grazing land isn't suitable for any kind of modern farming; hilly, rocky, poor soil, hell even the desert in Australia is used to graze cattle.. you can't just turn all that into arable land.Aaeamdar wrote:So in your magical world, a cow, for example, takes in less food than it provides? I mean, that's the only way what you say can be true, right? The cow, as it grows, and all the food it eats and all the waste it produces, takes up less farmland than the vegetation grown to replace the nuetrition the cow provides as food. Is this really where your arguement is going or did you mean something else by that?homercles wrote:Let me spread some education of my own for you enlightened vegetarians:
A world wide vegetarian population is logistically IMPOSSIBLE. It CAN NOT happen. There is not enough farmland on this planet to feed a 100% vegetarian society.
Lets follow your train wreck of thought and see where it leads us.
Your premise is that a good portion of grazing land is not arable.
Aaeamdar's argument is that a great amount of land that is used to grow grain etc. for feeding cattle could be converted to veggies for human consumption.
Hrmm so what do we do with the Cows that we are no longer growing grain to feed and the ones that are grazing arable land?

I've cut way back on red meat (eliminated greasy McD's cheesburgers from the diet).
Side note: I had some babyback ribs last night and they were scrumptiously delicious. To be fair, I pictured in my mind a pig being slaughtered while I ate the ribs but it didn't stop me from eating them.
I think as a country, the United States eats too much red meat as it's over advertised just like milk in this country but I don't see a reason to completely eliminate it.
Oh and also what do you suggest for those people that live in climates that don't allow farming, or to a limited extent during the few months the ground isn't too frozen.. Such as Eskimos (or Inuit, as those in Canada and Greenland generally prefer to be called). You know, those people who live in the snow and eat seals. They could move south and become farmers. So obviously they are just killing animals for amusement.

stop picking on Dar, he is obviously smarter then us all and the sooner you people understand that the world will be a better place. I have found inner peace by thinking "what would dar think about this." I even wear a something that says WWDTAT.

When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon
Well it certainly reduced the yearly number of hershey squirts, be it red meat or not. Something's just not right with ye'ole digestive track after a fast food burger. I figure it also helps the environment with less toilet paper required as well on average over the course of a year.Burke wrote:I don't think those count as red meat. probably because the "beef" in a mc'd's can come for over a thousand different cattle. Fucking crazy. I get my ground beef from ground chuck every time. Screw eating a mc'd's burger. The only reason it even tastes like beef is because of the chemical flavors added to the 100% beef batch from a packing supplier.Winnow wrote: Something's just not right with ye'ole digestive track after a fast food burger.
How about the grilled chicken at McDs? It seems like a real chicken breast. Any bad news for me with those?Chidoro wrote:probably because the "beef" in a mc'd's can come for over a thousand different cattle. Fucking crazy. I get my ground beef from ground chuck every time. Yes darling, unless we invent some form of statis field the poor cows in existence have to die somehow, eventually. If you don't look into their big brown eyes it's not as hard to bear.Atokal wrote: Oh your Kung Fu is weak.

Hrmm so what do we do with the Cows that we are no longer growing grain to feed and the ones that are grazing arable land?
The real point however, is that we actively breed cattle. We truck bulls around to service cows to produce more cows, we artificially inseminate cows, etc, etc. It would be relatively easy to stop cattle reproduction by just keeping the (few by comparison) bulls away from the cows.
Most rational people can then seperate the concept of euthenasing the remaining cattle and that of breeding cattle for slaughter endlessly. Not that I don't really enjoy a good steak.
I do note however, that you identified the difference between two arguments and your tangential trolling
