Gotta wonder what natural disaster is next. Florida still isn't done with hurricane season. Maybe a plague of locusts ala Jerry Bruckheimer style just like from The Mummy!

By the way there are a lot of good images of the Volcano at the USGS's ftp site:

ftp://ftpext.usgs.gov/pub/wr/wa/vancouver/MSH_Images/

Including the pic from the webcam with the ash plume...Some nice lava dome/ glacier detail shots as well...

Lot of steaming goin' on today though its diffuse can't tell if another vent is opened just north of the dome but it looks like that or some glacier slump...

The USGS is now saying the is a strong probability that this activity will end with "hazardous volcanic activity"...

Erp...they are now getting Long-period activity (tremors)...Hence the prediction of "hazardous volcanic activity"...Tremor = magma intrusion...

The new lava lobe inside Mount St. Helens' crater has sprouted a piston-like protrusion the size of a 30-story building glowing red at night.

"The magma is pushing the plug upward. It's going high in the sky," said hydrologist Carolyn Driedger of the U.S. Geological Survey at the Cascades Volcano Observatory in Vancouver, about 50 miles from the southwestern Washington mountain.

One section of the new lobe has risen by 330 feet in the past nine days, Driedger said Friday. Exact dimensions are not yet known but will be determined from photos taken Thursday
