Bride/Groom Songs?

Post by Lynxe »

1. If you are married, what song (if any) did you and your partner dance to?
2. What was the worst song you have ever heard a couple have as their "wedding" song?
3. What was the best song you have ever heard a couple have as their "wedding" song?

1- Wonderful World
2- Landslide
3- Haven't heard it but Tori Amos's cover of the Cure's love song would be my choice if I make the mistake of marriage again.

Back when my voice was still in its prime and I was still a music major, I used to sing in shitloads of weddings so I have many horror stories.

1) When I get married, its going to be probably I Will by the Beatles. Simple, short, and relatively non cheesy.

2) Toss up here. If I ever have to sing Longer by Dan Folgleberg or Love me Tender by Elvis again, I am going to shoot the priest presiding to balance out the karma in the universe. Seriously, those fucking songs are gay and they are long and painful to listen to even when done to perfection. Might as well put Amanda by Boston and The Wedding song by god knows what jesus freaking homosexual worte that song. Oh, yeah and anything by Bread.

3) I did a version of Believe by Lenny Kravitz that was really cool, just a guitar playing. I also saw someone do a neat version of You are the Sunshine of my Life by Stevie Wonder that was excellent.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

We were married to

The Alarm - Walk Forever By My Side.
Walk forever by my side
Never lose sight of the day

When we will run through all our weakness
On through the fields
Strewn with our broken dreams
Walk forever by my side

Stay forever in the light
Never lose sight of the way
For I alone can't face the future
I need your strength
To help me make it through
Walk forever by my side

Stay forever in the light
Walk on 'til morning
All my days are yours
Walk on 'til morning
All my days are yours

Hope you'll stay with me tonight
Lift the veil from my eyes
For I am weak and I am foolish
I need your love
To see me through the darkness
Hope you'll stay with me tonight

Walk on 'till morning
All my days are yours
Walk on 'till morning
All my days are yours

Worst song would be anything in the Celine Dion/Michael Bolton/Babs catalogs.

Not sure what would be the best song to get married to, think that would be a personal preference.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

Man, I learned something new about Jice in this thread. I never pictured him as a singer.

I think "The Bad Touch" by Bloodhound Gang would be a great wedding song.
"There is at least as much need to curb the cruel greed and arrogance of part of the world of capital, to curb the cruel greed and violence of part of the world of labor, as to check a cruel and unhealthy militarism in international relationships." -Theodore Roosevelt
