More Exciting Sport
I've been having an argument with someone. As it's merely a matter of opinion, I thought I'd find out what some other people think. That's where you come in.

football or baseball?
Football is exciting (especially after the pats won the bowl last year
) but i find baseball to be more entertaining than any other sport. Just me though, its close.

Yeah, just about everything is fun if you are actually there, even baseball. I would have perhaps put hockey in the poll, but no one was disputing whether or not it was exciting. A baseball fan calling football "boring" was what didn't sit right with me, that's why I had to ask.

Overall...teh HOCKEY!!!!
Myself, I prefer hockey, then football. I can't really watch baseball on tv. I do like the sport though, but it's much more fun to go to the ballpark and watch a game live than it is to watch on TV.

I will agree that baseball is much more enjoyable live than broadcast...however I do want to say that football is more enjoyable broadcast than live....football games are WAY too fucking expensive now...
that could just be because I live in dallas where the role of god is played by michael jackso...err I mean Jerry Jones.

Baseball ain't exactly cheap either. It's borderline ridiculous actually. Besides, the tailgating at a football game is unparalleled so it becomes more of an event than just a game. Also need to take into account that each game in football means a whole lot. Baseball is the complete opposite in that department.
People in NJ have been going to Trenton Thunder games more and more instead of going to see the Phils or the Yanks. The ticket is one third the cost as are the concessions.
Ohh what the hell do I know, I can't stand baseball. I've never watched a single game from beginning to end even when I was there live.

You think those are expensive?!?!?!
Try NASCAR. I went to Talledega this past weekend and if it hadn't been a vendor junket (Cisco is great for those, btw!!!!!) I don't know if I could afford it. Cheapest tickets were 55 bucks, I believe our seats were 80 bucks.
However, that being said....it's a fucking blast sitting 11 rows off the track at the entrance to pit road when 43 race cars go blaring past at 200 mph.
I'll take football over any sport, baseball I'll watch on TV as background noise while doing other things, basketball pretty much the same way. Hell, I even keep the golf channel on for background noise sometimes though.

I'm sorry sir, but in comparison you can still attend a baseball game (in my city) for much less than a football game.
Price Comparisons for tickets for sporting events in Dallas Texas:
(prices only include seats, not boxes)
Dallas Cowboys - $36.00, $37.00, $52.00, $60.00 and $68.00
Texas Rangers - $5 - $55
($55 tickets are seats with waitstaff service)
and just for comparison
Dallas Stars - $25 - $300(first row)
Dallas Sidekicks (indoor soccer) - $5 - $26(first row)
Dallas Burn (mls) - no information and no idea, but it's the cotton bowl so it can't be more than $20 general admission...could be wrong though
Texas Motor Speedway - $18 - $112 (18 at lesser events, 24 at the others as a minimum)
These figures are of course only accurate for dallas, but i'd be curious to see how consistent they are in the same sports in other cities.
edit, found accurate figures for ballpark at arlington
Well, see for yourself. Shit seats still cost $30+

Football games "mean more" because there are a lot fewer games. so the cost of losing is much higher.
i think a more meaningful comparison is what is more exciting a Football Playoff game or a Baseball Playoff Game.
In my opinion, Baseball is much more exciting in the postseason than football. The Super Bowl is often one of the most boring sporting events of the year.
I will admit my bias though, i'm not an NFL fan. I think College Football is a much more compelling brand of football than NFL.

Using the link you provided and searching the others....Chidoro wrote:Well, see for yourself. Shit seats still cost $30+
Tickets are:
NY Yankees $8 - $65
NY Giants $55, $65, $75
NY Jets Sold out for the next ten years. So your only option is scalping.
NY Mets $12 - $43
The price of attending a football game is still higher than the price of attending a baseball game.
As a side note. $260ish to watch the English Premiere League here in the states on tv....fuck
I guess people value it diferently. Sitting in the bleaches isn't exactly a pro sport experience, but throw in the $8 ticket price if you like.
And all of this penis size shit still doesn't remove the fact that baseball is ridiculously expensive. A football team has to make money from eight games, what's baseball's excuse?

Ya, you're right, people do value it differently.
To me, if I just want to go to a game, I don't care where I sit. In fact, the less I pay, the more I'll enjoy it, because I'm poor!
If I was a season ticket owner however, I'd want quality seats, that's just how I am.
Apparently you aren't able to enjoy a game from nosebleed bleachers, and that's fine. I'm sure other people agree with you.
There's no 'penis size shit' going on. Read my posts, I'm not demeaning you...You stated baseball was more expensive than football, I knew from my town it was not, and was curious if the same was true in your town. If I was calling you names, you'd know. I'm not much for subtlety(sp?)...

I can't decide which is less mind numbingly boring to watch. A bunch of obese yankees spitting sunflower seeds all over the place or a bunch of obese yankees patting each other on the ass and taking 5 minute rest breaks in between 3 second bursts of almost mildly strenuous activities?
I'll have to get back to you on it.

Bah, there are no five minute breaks. There's a 25 second clock in between plays, and they have no longer than that to get set up and run the next play. It's just enough time to see a couple replays of someone snapping their femur!

The problem with Baseball is the amount of downtime in the game. Too much of it.
Football is not bad too watch. I just wish they were not aloud to rush/running plays. Someguy dives into a bunch other guys and gains 1 to 5 yards. Safe and smart but boring as hell to watch. Unless of course he breaks free. If it was all out "pass the ball plays" i'd enjoy it more. But that takes away from the whole concept of the game I guess.
Hockey. Well. I'm Canadian so it's biological that I love it.

Hockey is fun to play, but boring as hell to watch imo with the exception of the fights of course. 2 guys beating the absolute piss outta each other is ALWAYS entertaining

Thats true, doing what they do on ice skates does take quite a bit of skill. I still think baseball is better though! :b
Of course if a hockey team and a baseball team went at it, i think we all know who would win...damn Canadians!

As a Canadian I have to say Hockey > all.
As far as the real subject of the poll, football is more exciting to watch than hockey. As a Canadian (and I know a lot of you guys are gonna laugh at this), I grew up watching CFL with a wider, longer field, shorter play clock, and one fewer down to make your 10 yards. I don't mind the NFL and the players do have a higher general skill level, but it doesn't have the speed that the CFL does, and to me that makes the excitment.
Baseball, IMO, doesn't have the speed evidenced by something like a passing play in football (where a reciever kicks in the jets to break free of the coverage, or a corner streaks in to break up a play, etc). The closest they come is the odd base run, and its not the same type of race. Also I love the body contact prevalent in hockey and football (as a player, nothing is quite so satisfying as bouncing someone on their ass as they try to get by you).

Hockey is very exciting to watch if you know what's going on. The concept of icing still eludes many of my fellow Americans, plus that little puck is HARD to see clearly after the 6th beer
Overall, football owns baseball. Me and my buddies are each shelling out $165 for the Bucs game this weekend, and I didn't hear any complaints about that. It's not just the 3 hours of the game, it's the 2 hours pre and post game that make football golden!

Wanna have some real fun?
First there is always good boxing. Fun to go see a match, fun to watch on TV, and fun as hell to participate in. Where 2 guys get to beat the shit outta each other and its okay! If you can kick boxing rules too! Heel of foot + other guy's face = big paycheck
Another GREAT thing to do is get a phat group of people to street race. Nothing funner than watching two imports neck and neck then watch everyone bolt at the sound of the guy on the megaphone going "COPS!" Fun!
Edit: Baseball is boring to go to. It interrupts all regular scheduled programs that I watch. It can die.
Football near here is okay because you always got the bad blood between Raiders and 49ers. Never a dull moment then!
