Disgea: Hour of Darkness - Anyone have it?

Post by Pilsburry »

It just came out, it's an RPG for PS2. Your the bad guy.

Graphics are a bit cartoony but it looks OK, it's too early to buy another game I play for 5 minutes though, so I was wondering if any of you have played it.

I do, it fucking rocks. Sarcastic ass game. Buy it if you liked Final Fantasy Tactics, or Ogre Battle/etc.

Think the Ogre Tactics series but faster moving and loaded with insane japanese humor and hilarious sarcasm.

Ok, that's good enough for me! ;) When I get done (or close to) with Grandia Xtreme, I'm gonna try and get it. ;)

Hmm So So...I'm too frustrated with the 'Volt Beast' to play it anymore though heh. It just casts stop spells on my characters, rendering them not able to move or do anything, and then kills them all. That's what goes down in my book as very goddamned cheap. The tactics and combos are kind of interesting...

BUT I have Disgaea now actually, and I can report it's kinda fun. You might not like the guys in the Penguin suits though heh. (They're called Prinnys.) Oh yeah, and they always say "dood." No, I'm not kidding. It is kinda hard, I haven't been able to beat the first big guy after two hours of gameplay. Mostly I've been trying to raise my troops in level and items. It's hard in a cool way though, not a "OMG, this is cheap!" way. I have the feeling I'll be playing this past the time FFX-2 comes out heh. I can't comment on the story because I haven't seen much of it. It's so far pretty cool heh.

Hmmm I have gotten so far about 8 hours into the game (or so the save tells me, I've probably played like 9 because of dying heh...).

Uhm It's still pretty damned cool. The humor is pretty good, the cutscenes are pretty good too (there is no real CGI, it's more like a comic book when it goes to a cutscene. (which is good because they can put a lot into it...) There are voiceovers for the cutscenes though.

Oh well, enough about the cutscenes, the game itself hasn't lost appeal yet (after playing for what would be 1/3rd the way through a normal game...). It seems though that there is a lot more. A quick glance at the feeble gamefaqs' faqs shows that to beat the end guy you should be about level 6000 with several Transmigrations (which reset your character to 0). I'm so far level 20 and have not Transmigrated yet. So it's a long game... It plays a lot faster than FF Tactics, and Tactics Ogre, which is good. You get special abilitied depending on your weapon, class, and some even more special ones if it's a story character.

So, nope haven't gotten pissed off yet. ;)
