My wife and I have done a lot so far this year, with much more to go. It's been pretty exciting as each project gets completed.

Here are pictures of our flower beds in the back. We finally got rid of all the previous owner's lava rock. I hate that stuff. So ugly. We replaced it with a blueish slate type of rock that was expensive as fuck, but it was on sale. Still, it took more than what I had first anticipated. My wife rounded out the first round of planting with lots of Hostas.

Here's a couple of views of the completed beds.

Also, we redid part of our entryway with bamboo wallpaper. Next up, we're going to get rid of the carpet and get stone steps that will match our living room floor and entry way.

Finally, I replaced some previous art with some pin up art downstairs.

In the next several weeks, our roof gets repaired, our kitchen gets a new ceiling, and we get our first professional lawn treatment. Next summer, I get to redo my bathroom and we're absolutely going to get a tankless water heater. We've put that one off for about 3 years.

Looks great! You have a pretty good chunk of land also. I am going to start some backyard design stuff at some point, but for now, I need to get the heat pump/ac installed and design a patio cover. So many things to do!

It really never ends. It's a good thing my wife kicks ass. She isn't one of these women that sits around worried she'll break a nail. I'll never forget one time when we were dating and I was helping a friend move. All the women sat around packing the small stuff as per usual, while the men moved all the big stuff. I was waiting for another guy to come back up from the truck to get the other end of a full sized couch (with a goddamn hide-a-bed!!), when my girlfriend (now wife) just grabbed the other end and we moved it down 2 flights of stairs. She frequently makes other women look like worthless pussies (at least my friend's wives!). This is one of the many moments while we were dating when I realized she was extra special. She never complains about hard work, she just does it. She does all of our gardening. We rotate lawn mowing duties. We clean the house together. We do laundry together. We do, well, pretty much everything labor related as a team. She works full time, plays video games, loves porn, has even more hobbies than I do, teaches classes, is finishing her Masters Degree, and is an unbelievable mother to my daughters. I love my wife. She is an alpha mom for sure.

When planning and doing anything house related, it's always a reminder of how amazing she is. Everything in my life is better because of her. Having a 100% full time partner is one of the best things about my life.

Anyway, off to rotate out new photos from our picture frames and hang a new clock. See? I told you it never ends!

Doing our roof this weekend. Spent about $1800 in mats and $450 for a dumpster. I'm not sure how much we are saving but I am assuming a lot. I'll post some pictures for before an after on Monday.

Better late than never to this thread right?....

did the roof and integrated solar shingles last year, the list of things we have done over the last 5 years to this house is too long to list... But saw the thread that I never posted a pic to and figured a good place for a brag post.

We sold the house above and bought a new one.

Hey, how are those solar shingles working out? Price and ease of installation would be great too.

Solar shingles are great, they are installed by the roofer when the roof is replaced.

Typical costs for the system are $15-$25k depending on available space.
