Board Issues

Post by Sylvus »

You may or may not notice that the board looks a little different. In an effort to upgrade our security, we installed the very latest version of phpBB and did some other things to close up some holes. What this means for now is that the style you're probably most used to isn't available right now. Rest assured we won't be sticking with this color scheme forever, but we will update it as we have the time.

We've also had to remove some of the mods that you have come to know and love, most notably VVs. It is undecided at this time on how we will replace that functionality, but if they come back in a similar form as they once were, we still have your totals as of this message being posted and we'll do our best to give them back to you.

For the most part, all of the threads (save a couple that may have been posted while I was restoring some databases) should be intact, and that's the most important thing.

Sorry for any inconvenience, but please sit back, keep posting and we'll get this place in better shape than it was before just as soon as we possibly can.

Thanks,
Team Discovery Channel

I'm going to work on a theme tomorrow, if I don't have any real work to do. 8)

i guess the passwords have been updated also..my password was only letters, and i couldnt log in..so i created a new account and tried the same password and it had told me that my password didnt work with the password complexity and it needed to consist of letters and numbers..im thinking that my account might not have been the only one that was removed/changed due to having an un-complex password

Shrug, my password is only letters and I had no problem. Did you try retrieving your password with the Forgot password? function?

That intrest was causing too much inflation anyways =(

When we get it going again, we're going to try and actually have stuff that you can blow your VV's on. That are worth blowing of course. Like admins.

The new password complexity function is strictly for new passwords, no old passwords should have been changed. PM me or email me with your old username and a password you'd like me to set for you and I'll try to re-enable your account manually.

How about the older uploaded files?

I was going through the Literature forum to get the DaVinchi Code and I noticed that it wasn't linked anymore. Same with the emulation forum. All attachments have been lost. Should we repost links for people or will they be restored along with the rest of the fixes?

For the record, I still have that if it's been lost.

Hmm... the attachment mod has not been installed yet, and we'll have to discuss whether or not it's worth bringing back. All the files are still on the server though. As time permits we'll see what we can do to move them into a better spot and give access to them again.

I dunno, going to be quite busy so not sure I will have the time I thought I would to make a new one. If there are any good 2.0.8 prepackaged versions, feel free to link them.

I'll look at the poll. In the future if you get an error, feel free to PM me and it would be helpful if you copy and paste the error into the message you send.

Ah nice. Can we get those put into VV? Just the top 50 of them or so, not all!

I saw a blackjack hack. That would rid everyone of their VV's fast! (if we get them back)
