-I really like the controller, it's a little bigger and with the new trigger design it's it feels much better in the hands than the DS3.
-I think once I get used to where everything is, I'll really like the UI; it's laid out pretty intuitively.
-The store is fast! Even with the network issues last night, it was still pretty damn quick - a lot faster and more responsive than it ever was on the PS3!
-I'm definitely going to want to upgrade the hard drive sooner rather than later. I just wish you could get a 2TB SSD for cheap, but I'll have to figure something out - I upgraded my PS3 copy of Battlefield to the PS4 and that was a 58GB download, and Assassin's Creed took up about 20GB.
-It was awesome to see all the full release games available for digital purchase in the store - if games are going to need to be installed anyhow - buying them digitally makes sense. Although I hope there is some way to backup your copies - since it won't be feasible to keep your library on your console once you get a lot of games, and you're not gonna want to re-download stuff all the time.
-Tons of free stuff for Plus - I never had it before so I hadn't paid attention.
I picked up my PS4 and am playing with it as I type this.
I bought the EYE as you never know if it might come in handy in the future.
-hard drive is the loudest thing so far in the console. Eventually need to upgrade that to an SSD 1TB when they're cheaper to get rid of the noise. It's not bad, just the wind up sounds mostly.
-I bought Battlefield 4 and I'm not sure why. I may return it as digital downloads are the way to go.(see Xbox One's original plan and hoprefully future plan for sharing of digital downloads)
-you actually do see the controller blue glowing light reflection on your TV screen. That sucks.
-Controller is definably better than PS3 but not as good as the 360 controller. They didn't go far enough with the ergonomics and the left joystick needs to be swapped with the D-pad. I'm switching between it and the 360 controller as I comment here. On the PS4, your fingers overshoot the buttons so you need to kind of hold the controller handles not in the palm of your hand where it would be most comfortable but rest the handles closer to your finders. Triggers are better but the R1 and L1 buttons don't flow well into the triggers for transitioning between the two. Also the R1/L1 bumpers buttons don't wrap around to the sides which makes getting to them a lot easier on the 360. I really like how you can have the top part of your index finger on the R1/R2 buttons while the lower part is on the triggers with the 360 controller. Top of joysticks are much better.
-update wasn't an issue, by the time I had my EYE setup, the update had already downloaded in the background and was ready to install.
-console feels solid laying flat. I guess you'd have to buy the additional stand to set it upright $$.
-Console had a white light on the top of it (I assume the colors change). Not sure if it will be distracting yet.
-EYE Playroom is pretty cool. You've seen the videos. It pretty much is the same in person which is impressive. It's just a tech demo but fun nonetheless. The camera/stand is really light so the heavy duty cable causes some issues since there's no weight to the camera and stand. I'd say it will be worth the 60.00 for the camera at some point during the lifespan of the console and I already don't regret getting it.
-downloaded the Netflix App. That went smoothly and the App is fast and seems OK.
-Twitch integration is good so far. There's a bunch of people live streaming from their PS4's. The video quality isn't so hot. That probably has to do with most people having crappy upstream bandwidth. Good job on that though. You should be able to easily always check out games you're interested in by watching others.
-browser is ok. I logged into VV to try it out.
I'll post more later on initial impressions. Seems ok so far. Can't comment on the UI as I haven't used it enough yet.
