Does EQ2 have the good\evil restrictions like EQ1 did? Debating between DE and Human.

No differences beyond starting area and cities that you can live in. Contact between the two sides is not restricted unless you are on a PvP server. There are a some class restrictions when it comes to alignment, but those will show up during character creation. There are ways to betray to the other side to switch classes if you really want to play a Dark Elf Paladin.

To decide on a race, you should check out the racial traits.

http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Character_Race

One of the best and useful racial traits are the ones that 'reduce maximum falling speed'.

Been playing a Ratonga defiler the last couple days, seems like a fun class. Not sure how useful they are later.

I started playing but I'm essentially a newb. I' really enjoying all of the "new" starting zones. Freeport starts were drab and awful so the new stuff is really cool. I play on permafrost when I'm on
