From what I've seen since i've been using it, it updates on its own.. so she wouldn't have to!

A few more "must have" utilities\addons:

Flashblock - Flash has become a major vector for nasty stuff and general sneakiness from all over the place.

Ghostery - Blocks web tags, beacons, behavioral trackers, etc.. Hidden code companies place in their sites to track you.

NoScript - Just what it says, blocks all scripts except what you allow. Amazing the amount of crap some sites run. Fox News is one of the worst. They've got dozens of parties paying them to have their scripts running on the website.

Without them running there are websites that will kill my netbook from the sheer amount of crap they spew.

Thanks, I installed all three. FlashBlock is key though especially over Remote Desktop. Sites with a bunch of Flash crap always slow me down because they are pokey. NoScript looks like a winner too so far!
