Anyone Playing on the P99 server?

Post by Canelek »

Been a while. I hope everyone is well!

I've been playing Project 1999 (classic-ish EQ locked at Velious) on and off for months now. It is a riot! Of course I have no time, but it is fun soloing or joining groups here and there. For a while, I had figured to try out the official game via the new Agnarr TLP server. However, I found modern EQ to be very un-classic and definitely not for me. No corpse runs and Luclin models? Fuck that noise.

You can use original models on current EQ live. I do! Luclin models suck. Especially the Iksar models.

Some of the stuff added (mercs!) I don't think I could play without any more. Ain't nobody got time for corpse runs or waiting for boats.

Oh I understand the conveniences. It is just not for me.

Oh I was tempted after I had Canelek and my alts recovered. I went through the bags and gear (wow I had a lot of cool shit!). Then I went down the list of things I did not like...

As annoying as they are, the idea of a corpse run, for me, was the ultimate risk vs reward in a game. I like what the runners of Project 1999 have done, for the most part. They are also wanting to do another "green/recycle" classic server with the correct patch/expansion timeline (up to Velious again, I think). It would be cool to be there from the start.

Maybe someday I will give Live a look again--after all, for some reason I have a Child's Tear from Fear in a bag for some reason...could always roll a Shaman and MQ for epic! :D

Female Shaman is the way to go as long as you have a DE mask and ass-less pants!

No real reason not to play on Live. It's 'free' for the most part! You can gear up fairly well, not including augs, on a Silver account.

I prefer classic-ish, so live is out. Personal preference is all.

I signed on again, on one of the progression servers. I can barely remember the damn keys. I littered the forest with my corpses.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

I came back to EQ last year. I did P99 for a bit, but I found the raid environment really toxic and unhealthy. I've been messing around on the takp server for the last six months or so and recommend it really highly since it provides a classic experience that is balanced with a casual raiding play style. There's a gm enforced rotation with a full world repop every two weeks and it is a low population server of 200-300 people. You're allowed to box up to 3 toons as well if you like, or just play one. You can have up to 10 game accounts on the website and are able to switch toons between them.

Anyone on the forum is welcome to shoot me a tell in game, I'm normally on Quath, Abelard, or Boomzap (I got lazy with names). I'll give complimentary PL and some starter items. Alternatively, if anyone decides to try the server out you can PM me on the takp forums under Quath. I probably wont be checking this account, but here's a link to the takp forum if anyone decides they want to give it a go.
