According to Sony Online Entertainment President John Smedley, my wait will end soon. The PlanetSide 2 beta is set to kick-off on Monday or Tuesday.
Posting on Twitter, Smedley announced the beta will begin in days "barring any unforseen circumstances." Beta invites will first go out to veterans of the original PlanetSide before being sent out in stages to everyone else who registered.
Not sure. I found the invite nestled in my junk mail today. I will have it downloaded tonight. I'll play whatever.
This game will definitely keep me interested until Borderlands comes out. I already bought an xbox windows controller for that puppy. So looks like I'll be on an fps kick for the foreseeable future.
I have been trying to stick with west sever 1 because it has been the most stable with crashes. Now that the crashes are better, I may do TR on east 1 because the pops are lower. I am DreadTR on both. It definitely has some differences, but so far it looks like a game where smallish squads of organized people can drop somewhere and really cause some issues.
I am most likely going to do Borderlands on xbox just because it is less hassle and my buddy that I do a lot of the gaming with is xbox (and kicking back in the chair is more comfy). Can't rule out getting it for both platforms again though!
I'd feel awkward using a console controller on a PC game. Plus the whole mouse+keyboard thing with shooters is easier for me to deal with....not starting that argument again, just personal comfort level.

Same. It sucks these days when PC games don't support the Xbox/PC Controller. I plan to get Borderlands 2 for the 360 but the PC version has some nice effects for high end cards:
Just takes a little bit of getting used to for me. Also, I'd rather not pay a fee to play a FPS online...and my 360 is so noisy! But if yall are going 360, I suppose I could as well.
Do you know if Dale is playing BL2 and/or Planetside 2 as well?
Got invite and install yesterday. I have only played for around an hour or so on the US East 1 server (think that was it). Instant Action was definitely the way to go as soon as I set my class I made a character in each faction to screw around with for now. I was thinking TR again though.
I fired up a TR last night on US East 1. I got just outside of base and was promptly smoked by a friendly tank. Fuck, forgot about griefing. Fooled around with it, but I got hit by the poor framerate that has been plaguing the game. It was pretty rough, I knew if I got into the thick of shit, I'd have been wasted, so I just dicked around the base and logged.
the framerate problem just comes and goes at random. Apparently people with AMD processors are getting hit with it the most. I have been in some pretty large battles with no real problems and also been in the middle of nowhere and gotten hit with the freeze
