Vent in SWTOR
So I set up a vent server tonight and I was able to get people into it after futzing with my firewall and such. The problem some of us are having is that when you are in game you can't talk in vent. We are all using push to talk and naturally most of us are using the left control button. I have a G15 keyboard and if you know what that looks like you know that there is a macro button G6 to the left of the control button. I remapped my ptt to that button but when in the game I still can't use it to talk. What am I doing wrong?
Re: Vent in SWTOR
Does Vent recognize those Gbuttons as actual buttons? Most apps don't.

Re: Vent in SWTOR
hmm, I've used right CTRL just fine. I never had to change any settings to do so, unless there was a change that I made long ago for another game.
Re: Vent in SWTOR
Run vent as administrator.
Going out to play pool now with my fellow klan members. Have a nice night. - Midnyte

Yah, should be fine. I've mapped Vent to my Saitek Controller as well as my G700 mouse so it's as simple as assigning any other key. Don't assign it as "G6", assign CTRL or some other key or macro to the button that you also assign as PTT in Vent.
I saw this on Logitechs forums:
I checked and I'm using 3.05 so you might check your version as well if you still want to directly assign vent to a G key.
I saw this on Logitechs forums:
"The latest Ventrilo (3.0.7) enables the G keys."

This is what I had to do long ago. No problems since.

If you're using XP or Vista, you have to manually tell Ventrilo to run as an admin, which enables the use of certain commands. In this case, push to talk when Ventrilo is not the program maximized. That was always my experience when I was running it in Vista. Not sure if you have to do the same in Windows 7.
