Diablo 3 will allow players to sell in-game items for cash
Nothing being sold by Blizzard, just player to player item for cash auctions. What do you think?

Guess that's OK. the "always on" DRM on the other hand.. Pass. Not surprising considering SC2 but Blizzard wont be getting any of my money.

The gear should have some sort of tag saying "bought with cash" in big red letters when you inspect someone. You should also have the option of only allowing groups with randoms that do not pay cash for gear. Other than that, I'm indifferent. Cool for some people I guess.

I agree on principle, but if it allows Blizzard to curb cheaters, dupers, and hackers, then I'm perfectly ok with it. I'll just think of it as an MMO of sorts. Thinking back, whenever I played D2 solo, it was with an online character anyway. I agree that the precedent is disconcerting though.Aslanna wrote:Guess that's OK. the "always on" DRM on the other hand.. Pass. We should get a VV group going when D3 comes out. That would be pretty cool!

I think this is the bridge that truly changes it from a game to a job. You come home after slaving at your day job only to login and be your own boss of your new online gaming job.

Doesn't matter much to me....I only play games like this with people I know personally and trust.

Only if you let it/make it, same as it's always been. You can choose to ignore this aspect of the game completely like I'll be doing!Bubba Grizz wrote:I think this is the bridge that truly changes it from a game to a job. I can see where it could be very addicting. You make one good auction and make some money and then you feel the thirst quenching need to do it again and again...like Dexter!

Re: Diablo 3 will allow players to sell in-game items for cash
I love this idea. It was never hard to sell or buy items in D2 anyway (d2jsp has a nice system, and it is really not that hard to turn forum gold back into RL cash). I can see this getting rid on the insane amounts of bots spamming websites, and that was the absolute worst thing about D2 as the years went on.
If botting to kill mobs and get gear still works, I will be setting up one on my old computer to run 24\7 and make some cash on the side. Of course, if that works, the economy will go to hell very quickly (ala D2)...but those super awesome, completely unique, rare items will be there and be worth a fortune. I saw an axe go for 50,000 forum gold once...and that translates to around $1574 (slightly less when cashing it out generally, but you can apply the same idea to Blizzard taking their cut).

It's all about the Skill Calculator!
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian
There is going to be an amazing amount of customization in the game. That is, unless cookie cutter builds float to the top like they always seem to.
Has anyone decided on which class they'll be playing? I'm considering going outside my comfort zone and rolling a wizard or witch doctor. I'm pretty much always melee in any of these point and click games and both of those classes look pretty fun.

M not sure yet but I'll most likely be a melee class.
