that doesnt make sense. now matter how well equipped someone is they should not be able to kill mobs 20 levels above them. Thats like someone in west commonlands killing young kodiaks for xp going into kithakor woods and killing undead mobs with the same ease.

Skeevs is just all that, a perfect combination, mix and fusion of enchantments, upgrades, ideal placement of correct stat-boosts(stones) with the addition of some superior cashshop-items!

It must've been the bunnyears that made it possible!

An optimal combo is his placements of hotkeys on the bar as well as the choice of pet.

Thing is Momo, Skeevs isn't getting anything special from fighting these 20+ creatures, he is getting more rewarded by the lower ones drop-wise!

naw just saying no matter what the upgrades are the game shouldnt allow 20+ lev higher mobs to be taken down with ease. It's not envy or anything like that, it just doesn't seem right. Even if a level 10 EQ char could equip end game stuff I really don't think he is taking out mobs in plane of fear etc.

I do believe the differencies between the mob-lvls are huge in EQ compared to Rappelz. :D

A lvl 55 regular mob isnt tremendously more powerful as a lvl 50 regular mob in Rapplez, while in EQ, 1 or 2 levels of difference could mean a big deal!

That's the main thing.

The Boss-mobs are tho, a lvl 50 normal mob compared with a lvl 50 Boss-mob is mucho difference! :D

In EQ, as a lvl 10, you'd better stay away from a lvl 20 mob regardless of your gear (since you would miss and resist so much), but in Rappelz, thanks to Chips, you can handle a lvl 10+ mob without problem. (if its a normal one and not a Boss)

Rappelz is not EQ.
There is no real incentive to kill mobs that are much higher level than you.
A gentler power curve for mob strength allows for more flexible grouping in regards to level range.

Use chips on every mob.
There is no reason not to.

Chip usage:

Force Chip 1: 1-19
Force Chip 2: 20-49
Force Chip 3: 50-79
Force Chip 4: 80+

If you start getting near one of the levels you need a higher chip for (level 50 for example), just start using the higher level chips on all mobs you fight. You should be gettiing plenty of laks to pay for the chips. The levels listed are for the mobs you're fighting, not your level.

Drag the chips down to one of your hotkey-buttons, myself i have the chips on F3, very easy to use and worth it!

As you kill mobs, you sometimes get Laks (souls of those creatures!) which you can exchange for either chips or rupees at any Lak trader. Can also purchase Chips at the Lak Traders but it isn't really necessary if you have lots of Lak to exchange! :D

instead you should probably use a force chip for every single mob you kill. you'll pretty much always make enough laks to turn into force chips.. i've never run out but i think midnyte has.

Well...i downloaded the client and started plying a bit around ! That game seems to be nice !

I have created a character, influenced by the killing spree described by Winnow, so it will be an assassin too. Hope to catch some of you in game, even with different time zone :)

I haven't been on much in the past few days due to a few new games being released to try out!

I may transfer the guildleader title over to someone that's going to play a bit more in the next few days while I play the three 360 games released that deserve some attention so we can get you added to the guild if you want. As far as I can tell, there's no way to promote others to officer or a status where they can add guild members. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

Kwon seems to be the most active atm but you might end up with half the players on the server as guild members and a guild icon of someone's butt!

I'll switch the ability to add members over to Kwon. What's the command! I only know the invite one : ) (I think it's /gpromote)

I'm going to probably sell my Salamander and use all the cash to attempt to get my weapons up to +8 or +9.

There are no guild ranks.
If you /gpromote someone it simply transfers leadership of the guild.

Yesterday's patch Notes:
Patch Notes - 08/22/07

General

- A bug that forced users to use low texture settings has been fixed.
- There will now be a graphical effect whenever you succeed at taming a creature or enchanting an item.
- The automatic arrangement of inventories has been removed. Players should be able to organize their inventories as they wish now.
- A return pass has been added to Hidden Village passes. The return pass will expire when the Hidden Village pass expires.
- The spacebar can now be used to pick up items on the ground. Enable this option via the gameplay options menu. Simply goto Game Play, and enable "Enter key chatting" to enable this feature.
- A bug which caused monsters to stop respawning around the Rondo Arena was fixed.
- Some graphical terrain bugs have been fixed.
- The maximum number of quests you can have at any given time has been increased to 20.
- The maximum number of items you can have within your own personal item shop has been increased to 8.

- The Avatar Overbreed stat bonuses between JLv 41~50 have been slightly reduced.

Dungeons

- A bug which caused the enlarged world map to display incorrectly in dungeons has been fixed.

For some reason i was really lucky with mobs at lake massey and i got a lev2 bow, lev2 something mail,3 or 4 soulstones and 4 monster eggs in about an hour's time. last question, how hard is a mob called paradise lost? is it harder then the named at lake massey?

You can boost your armor (each piece, not just the robe/bp) with defence cubes, by clicking combination in the bottom of your item-screen (alt + i).

Drag the specific armor-piece(robe, glove, boot, hat etc) and the defence cube and combine.

If successful, it will say +1 Funky Hat etc and the stats will be a bit better.

I usually enchant my armor to max +4, since there is a risk that the equipment will break,

Once, my BP broke when trying to enchant from +3 to +4!

Something seems to have changed in the last patch with regard to my evasion or damage mitigation or monster damage/accuracy as well. I was on a few minutes this morning and I was taking much more damage than seemed normal.

I got a strike cube from the egg. So far thats the best thing I've seen. I wonder if the level of the monster killed affects the prize from the egg in any way? or if character level affects it.

Edit: I'd much rather get the stamina saver.

I think I was unclear.
If I use th panther as a belt card. Can I still equip my Assassin's Impact card?
I would use the panther in my belt and likely use the pixie in the field, thought I may consider trying the tortois to see if he can tank for me, but I think the pixie may present greater overall value.

I downloaded this and I just have to say... WTF?

This is shit.

Its a lineage 2 click and move, lame game. Nothing new at all.

Is the point of draw because its "free"?

I just do not see how I could give up my time in my life to play this, when there is so much better stuff available if you wanted to play games.

Xan, If you just downloaded it, you haven't played it long enough to see the draw... To me the draw is threefold:

1) Advancement is fast, so you feel like you're accomplishing something even if you only play for 30 minutes.

2) Combat is insanely fast... you can go on a spree and be killing mobs every few seconds... One day I played almost 10 hours straight and only smoked 5 cigarettes because I had no time to smoke.

3) Not only is the basic game free, but you can advance quicker by making a cash investment in the game. I have no problem paying for my entertainment if I'm actually going to be entertained.

I admit that since I purchased the 360, this game has fallen to a low priority... I've played maybe 1 hour in a week.

I have a 360 and no games lol. I used to have the blockbuster "all access pass" thing or whatever it was called. (It allowed me to have 1 game out at a time endlessly and BB is like 2 minutes away from my home walking).

I cancelled that a few months ago because I played everything they had and I was into LOTRO hardcore at the time... so I should prolly go get it again.

I only have a couple 360 games, NCAA Football and Madden.

-------------

Computer gamewise?

I have been playing Spellforce/Spellforce 2. Civ4 Beyond the Sword, Gothic 3, Total War 2. Single Player stuff.

LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Guild Wars, as well as a LOTRO private invite server.... none of which I spend more than an hour on before I am crying bored.

-------------

I've recently started downloading from Newsgroups a ton of movies and using TVersity to stream them to my 360. I had to justify that 500gb USB drive I got a few weeks ago... so i am just waiting for the FBI to come knock my door down next I guess.

--------------
15 Month old daughter is the real reason I am not playing much anymore.... It seems I would rather just play with her and some toys in the playroom than on my video games anymore. Maybe its just getting boring to game? Dunno.

Rappelz is a good game, as I mentioned earlier somewhere in this thread, to fill in between other games. No subscription required, if you get motivated to a play for awhile, you can buy a hidden valley pass for various lengths of time, 1 day, 1 week, 15 days, 90 days, etc. ATM, I have 24K stamina as I haven't played for XP in a few days so can use all that up whenever I do play.

As with any game, I already met one or two people that I chat with in the game which makes it worthwhile.

Playing for 30 minutes isn't going to give any real impression of the game. Either you like point and click or you don't and you mentioned Guild Wars so it's the same thing. Having all the functions programmed into my nerd gamer pad makes life easier as well.

I played LOTR for about 15 minutes, Tabula Rasa for a few hours, something else for about 30 minutes...it's all the same stuff so Rappelz fits right in but with it's own style.

Anyone who has a 360 should be playing Bioshock right now.

In other news, I sold my Salamander last night for 70M so can get back to leveling up my weapons. IT was a big mistake to not OB it before Evolving it to level 2. All the "rich" players seem to be OB snobs! A +10 Level 66 Skeleton was being sold for 25M while my completely worthless Salamander with no skills in the game yet sold for 70M. It's an odd market sometimes.

Skill Cubes ~ Ancient Skill Cubes

I'd like to see a strike cube success.

I got a "deal" on e-Protects for 2.5M so have six of those and have six r3 strike cubes.

Someone was selling Ancient Strike Element for 5M each but rumor is that it's bugged and people are having even less success using that than when using normal cubes.

It'd be nice to see a percentage chart for success on each level above +4. I see the forums flooded with irritated people. This is one of the few games where you can spend 40.00-50.00 and come away with zero or even break your item and have less than you started with.

First thing they should do is stop breaking items. Failures are harsh enough. Breaking a weapon that someone spent months putting together is a little over the top in penalties.

There are other ways to make money than to piss people off. The business model of advancing faster or slower depending on your stamina and selling ways to keep your stamina high is excellent. You have a clear choice, and all it does it affect how much time you spend to advance.

Also, Koreans pay about $5.00 for a cape while they jack the prices up to around 35-40.00 for the same virtual cape to the Western Nations. Kwon doesn't understand this business model, but you'll make more money selling an item at a stomachable price to a lot more people than jacking the price up into the stratosphere and selling it to only a few people. The goal is not to cause your paying customers to quit the game. 15.00/month is what MMORPGs should shoot for. Beyond that, don't make game crafting and taming so stupidly hard that it causes people, that would otherwise continue to shell out money for a longer period of time, leave the game.

The main problem with Rappelz is the greed of the developers and not understanding how to increase their revenue. They decided that making cube successes even harder would force people to buy more e-Protects from their store, which still doesn't help the chances of success, it only saves your weapon from breaking so you're paying $5.00 every attempt (which is less than 50%) to simply stay in the same state you are currently after a failure. What this causes people to do is to start using the black market to buy Rupees as the conversion rate is much lower if you do this. Now, Rappelz developers lose out on all that money as well as they aren't making any money from the Rupees changing hands with the black market rupee businesses. An example of the insane pricing is the 25 pack of e-protects. The cost of those 25 e-protects is $100.00 U.S. currency. All that stuff does is stop your item from breaking on a failure, it does nothing to help the horrible success rates. about $70.00 or more of that money will end up doing absolutely nothing to help advance your character. I sure don't remember uber weapons costing 100.00 in EverQuest and that's what you have to do in Rappelz because you can't advance your weapon in any other way save for "cubing" and there's no way you'll chance a 30% strike cube on an unprotected weapon that's +5 or higher and blow the entire time invested in getting the weapon to that state, starting over again from nothing. Sure, there were failures in EQ with crafting, but nothing that cost you 5.00 a pop and nothing that would destroy a 100.00 weapon investment if you failed. You paid your 15.00/month and were happy. Rappelz can easily make up the lost revenue on initial game purchase with physical items sold in the store. They don't need to go nuts with the failure rates to try and squeeze more money out of players in a manner that causes a frustrating experience. They could sell e=protects for same ridiculous price but instead of them going to complete waste if your cube attempt fails, have the e-protect convert to a SS potion on failed attempts. That way the failures continue, yet the player at least has a potion to go back out and advance their character. They'll still have to buy more e-protects but at least they don't feel like it was completely wasted.

So, in summary. The Stamina free/pay concept in Rappelz is outstanding but their pricing/greed on everything else is out of control with the extremely high rate of failure not helping things much on top of that. Their policy of increasing failure rates even more to make money is a bad way to go about keeping the paying customers. The freeloaders could care less. Shame.

There's my review of Rappelz from a business model for MMORPGs! I may post that in the official Rappelz forums.

I just started up on Bahamut. Name is Vintyr. Give me a tell!

Before I get too far on my Rogue(ish) character though, is there a certain class that the VV guild needs, or that is under-appreciated and fun?

Holy warrior Mebbe? Or mebbe even another Cleric.
We seem to have a shit-ton of DD.
I've half considered restarting as a Holy Warrior myself, but figure I may do that after I get a bigger buffer pet and can PL myself through the lowbie levels faster.
