Obama dines with Tech Leaders

Post by Winnow »

Damn, that's an impressive list of people on the guest list:

Nice to see Steve jobs made it. Not much time left for him according to speculation on his health.
President Barack Obama met with Silicon Valley executives on Thursday over dinner to discuss how to boost the US economy through technological innovation and increase the number of jobs in the United States. The dinner was held at the home of John Doerr a venture capitalist with the firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. The group was photographed while giving a toast and the picture was later released on the official White House flickr page.

According to the White House, “The president and the business leaders will discuss our shared goal of promoting American innovation, and discuss his commitment to new investments in research and development, education and clean energy.”
No Microsoft! (reason given is that they are not based in Silicon Valley)

I'm unclear what I should be enraged about this time. Is it because he's hobnobbing with the (I assume) liberal elite? No doubt the taxpayers paid for those drinks. I need some guidance here!

How about how everyone there has what company they are from under their name but Mark Zuckerberg, like we are just supposed to know who he is! An outrage!

I know his name for the same reason people on the right know Julian Assange.

I thought I had read once upon a time that there had always been some serious resentment in Silicon Valley about the fact that Microsoft had decided to base themselves out of Redmond, WA.
