Vikings (History Channel Original Series)

Post by Canelek »

I finally got around to catching up on this (currently in Season 2). When I first heard about this show (and where it lives on TV) I was very skeptical since, well, it's fucking history Channel.

Holy damn shitwow, what a fun show! Gritty and violent, and even humorous. Really solid acting and story (figuring out open-sea navigation and thereby getting it on with the Britts, etc).

Hopefully, it continues on for a few seasons as this is yet another excellent bit of original programming!

I watched the first season on Prime, and I agree, it was a lot of fun to watch. Once the second season hits prime I'll be all over it, I've just got too damn many shows I download to add any more to the list.

Being on History channel does limit it some but I agree overall it's decent. They make the main character a bit too arrogant for my tastes which makes him unlikeable at times. A bit too unlikeable imo!

Yeah, Ragnar can be a bit of a dick! Otherwise, I really like the actor's charisma.

Floki and the "priest" (forgot his name) are my favorites.

I am current in season two, so I'll not spoilerizate. I will say that it continues to get better and better!

Finally got around to watching the last episode of Season 2. Still hard to see the king guy as also Dex in Tao of Steve!. He's being very un-Steve!

Anyway, glad the storyline of that season seems to have been completed. Overall I'd probably give Season 2 a 7/10.

Yeah, the second season seemed to take a little too long to come around. I guess all of the "little" twists along the way might have played into that, but some of the episodes in the home setting moved everything along too slowly.

Watched the first season last night after football and enjoyed it. Seems fine for being on the History Channel. I don't care about sex scenes and the gore, if limited, doesn't impact how harsh things were back then.

I'm so glad I live in the present day although in a hundred or two hundred years, people will be thinking how harsh our present day life was. Amazing how unsterilized everything was back then. I'd be long dead, as would most of you if we lived back then due to our ages.

The characters are interesting but I appears it might get a little bogged down in politics. There were a few too many shots of Ragnar smirks. It seems every single shot where he spoke there was a 5 second close up up of his face before he spoke. They did a good job on injuries and not having them heal quickly.

Ill check out season two tonight (Amazon Prime)

Watching season two and I'm curious about this part:
[Show]
Ragnar burns the town's food supply for the winter and then defeats Bjorn Borg, retaking his town. They never answered how the people ate after that. They should all be starving since they have no food.

First season of Vikings is on Netflix if you have VPN and can switch to a South American country.

Season 3 starts on the 19th. As usual with most of the shows I watch these days I'll probably just collect them and watch once the season is over.

If it starts on the 19th, what the heck has my DVR recorded three episodes of?

That's a good question. You might want to check!
On 25 March 2014, History renewed Vikings for a ten-episode third season, which is scheduled to air on February 19, 2015

I've hated how my TWC DVR seems to randomly record things like season recaps.
