Star Trek

Post by Bubba Grizz »

Saw on Saturday and loved it completely. I am really loving the younger crew and the change in the timeline.

I totally did not see the whole Kahn thing happening. I love the connection to Carol Markus as well.

Saw it. Liked it.

The first Star Trek reboot movie ranks in my top ten movies.

This one was entertaining. It's not going to be rewatched multiple times like the first one by me but it was still a decent effort.

I like the new crew. It does seem at times like JJ Abrams was making sure he gave every cast member air time. Chekov was the odd man out in this movie with a useless role just to give him some screen time.

Despite its mixed reviews, surely some of you were looking forward to the DVD and Blu-ray release of Star Trek Into Darkness. You were probably looking forward to checking out all the extras, too. Well, I have news for you, and that news is Paramount is about to screw you like Kirk in an Orion Slave Girl sorority house.

The official Blu-ray has seven mini-featurettes. Seems kind of bare bones for such a major summer release, eh? Indeed it does, because Paramount has divvied up all the other features — including the commentary tracks with the cast and director J.J. Abrams, and several additional featurettes — have been given exclusive to the Target release, the Best Buy release, and the iTunes download. Meaning 1) if you buy the normal version you're getting less than half the special features created for the home video release, and 2) if you want all of them you're going to need to purchase at least three separate versions.
Talk about one of the most terrible ideas of all time!

Ugh, that's straight up shitty.

September is a good month for movie releases though. Star Trek, Iron Man 3, and World War Z all in the same month. That's 3 new 3D movies I'll be adding to the collection!

Saw it. Didn't really care for it.

Seriously, they could have made the villain anyone but they chose to make him Khan? And the having Kirk 'die' the same way Spock did in Wrath of Khan.. Ugh. It just seemed like a cheap ripoff and lacking in originality.
And yeah... Fuck Abrams and his goddamn lens flares.

Ditto.

Seemed aimed at an attention-deficit crowd.

Which crowd was Star Trek: Nemesis aimed at? Or Insurrection?

It wasn't even that. I just thought it was a poor movie in general and that wasn't due to any one factor.

Anyway I wish more people would have paid attention to the TNG movies. We might have got 1 or 2 more before the current mess of ST that they've put out.

Yeah, thinking back on this film, it's actually pretty bad.

The first JJ Abrams Star Trek is in my top five favorite movies. It has a good story, excellent dialog and great pace...but this second movie has me a bit worried about the new Star Wars films. Lost EV series was good but had crappy ending. Armageddon was an entertaining movie. Revolution (I just finished watching the entire first series) was mediocre to below average.

A decent Star Wars film isn't a sure thing. Could be get one good one followed up by crappy ones.

It doesn't have:
a good story, excellent dialog and great pace
The story part is debatable I suppose, it is Star Trek after all.

Star Trek films are hit or miss for me, this one was a big miss.

I disagree. His first movie was highly entertaining and had a great story. I'm referring to the film released in 2009 to be clear. 2013 Star Trek was a jumbled mess.
