Caught mention on AICN, and copied this little snippet from wiki:
In January 2011, it was announced that Warner Brothers Pictures and CBS Films will be developing a feature length film adaptation of The Stand. [9] Jackie Earle Haley is rumored to play Donald Merwin Elbert, better known as the "Trashcan Man."[10] There is currently no official release date.
The Stand: THE MOVIE!

So, they better make it one long fucking movie, or break that shit up.

I really enjoyed the 1994 6-hour mini-series. The cast was fucking fantastic and it was pretty well done up until the end. I actually own the DVD and bust it out now and again.

The Stand is one of my favorite books of all time. It is fucking brilliant and still gives me the shivers. GOOD SHIT

We'll see how this pans out. Should be interesting what with The Dark Tower films+TV series on the horizon.

I loved both the book and the TV series.....dont see any way in hell it can do the book justice in 2-2½ hours though.

I would have said the same thing before I saw the Lord of the Rings trilogy done on film.

No way they are going to make 3 movies out of The Stand.

Sure, it can be split, theoretically; Plague, Traveling to CO/NV and Confrontation, but as individual movies I can't see much revenue potential. Maybe if they were released all in the same year...

King doesn't think it will work either:

Apparently, he did not even know about it until the internuts told him.

Still though...I'll still see it. And I do agree with King on Gary Sinise being perfect as Stu Redmond. I'll take it another step and say that most of the cast was spot-on...well, not Flagg. Team good-guy was perfect. And Miguel Ferrer from the bad guys was awesome.

Concur w/ the Lizard. 1994 was pretty damn good. Casting especially.
