Some of the responses on the HBO forum are entertaining...
[Show]
I need to say it again. You start this series with cruelty to animals and children. And now you kill off the main character. Fuck you. really fuck you. I've taken it upon myself to create an HBO account to say that I will NEVER watch GAME OF THRONES again. I feel like I've watched a bad play and can never have the time that I invested in watching this shit show back again. I'm so mad at you rioght now HBO. You really let me down. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
THE KILLING OF NED STARK WAS THE MOST ASININE THING THEY COULD DO. THE PRODUCTION OF GAME OF THRONES HAS DUG ITS OWN GRAVE AND I HONESTLY WILL STOP WATCHING THIS SERIES. G.O.T (GAME OF THRONES) HAS DISSAPOINTED ME TO THE BONE AND I WILL FOREVER HATE THE OUTCOME.
I'm NEVER watching this show again. I'm sorry I watched it in the first place. Yes, I think I got too emotionally attached to a TV show. I can't believe what they did. And Sean Bean is a big star compared to everyone else, how do you kill off your star? Anyway, that's it for me.
Absolutely ridiculous. Why would you ever kill off the BEST character on the show? FAIL for HBO. I will definitely NOT be watching this show any more. It was a great show up until tonight.
I will agree with some of the other responses though.. Apparently Tyrion had a battle scene in the book. But in the show he got hit in the head with a hammer and that was the whole battle.. wtf? I'd imagine it was budget issues but still!

Well, the book is all told from the POV of the different characters. While there was a bit more to Tyrion's battle in the book, he was still knocked out and missed a good portion of the battle. I think...

As for Ned being killed, I of course knew from the start it was going to happen so I wasn't surprised. I think if the Ned character wasn't slated to die Sean Bean wouldn't have signed on; I don't think he'd want a long term TV commitment tying him down, but I could be wrong. Plus he always seems to play the guy who gets killed off!
Oh, and I'm cackling at those HBO.com responses, hahaha.

The HBO forum responses are hilarious. God forbid your fairy tale world be torn down, and a plausible, realistic story be told! The best part is, you know they will all continue to watch, they may take a week off, but they will be back. They always come back! mwahahahaha And then their next character they follow and love to deaths...well...will be dead'ed! hahahaah

I'm a little disappointed that the battle scenes were left out. Hopefully we get some in future episodes even though large-scale battles are not really a primary feature to the story

Ok, I knew that most everyone in the story dies at some point coming into it, but didn't know specifics. I'm fine with that, even though I'd like to see some of the people that have been offed stick around.

However, I need to know when every last fucking Lannister is going to be wiped out (except for the midget). I'm not sure if I can endure Joffrey or his cunt of a mother for a couple seasons of the show.

Masteen, that's the fifth video of Joffrey getting slapped that I've seen on the internet. That part really resonates with the viewerbase. My favorite is the 10 minute video of just one of the slaps, a five second clip, on endless repeat.

I like that there is such strong response as the story unfolds on screen. Working as intended! The Dothraki/Dani parts should strengthen. It had to be tough since most of her POV was internalized in the first book. They have not conveyed that well yet.

They really have succeeded in capturing that character's essence so perfectly.

Alive, but being horribly tortured by the fanatics she helped create. It's sweet and delicious irony, but I'm sure His Fatness will release her once he finally manages to push out his next turd, I mean book. If he can manage to squeeze in a chapter or two for main fucking characters instead of offal.
I am so over putting spoiler tags on decade old material. READ A BOOK for chrissake!

F all the people who got advanced copy of Dance with Dragons today.

Last 2 episodes of the season were amazing, especially for the reaction of the non-readers (with this being the best: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owf6D2vfZqM).

As far as the audio books go, the narrator is supposed to be really good, they're just like 36 hours each of listening, which is way too much.

Roy Dotrice did the readings for books 1-3, but wasn't available for Feast For Crows, and I didn't like the reader for that one at all.

I can't get into audio books. It's too easy to get distracted and miss something. Also most of the time the voice doesn't fit what's in my mind for that character. Real books > audio books all the way!

Oh, and I thought the final episode seemed like about 5 minutes long. I knew that it was drawing to conclusion rather quickly and was quite pissed that the drew out that Grand Maester Pycelle scene! Very solid cliffhangers for Dany and Jon. Decent foreshadowing for Arya and Sansa. The baby dragons were very well done!

For anyone interested, here is the panel for GoT at Comic Con. It's in five pieces, each easily found on the sidebar after you finish watching the first. Enjoyed it a lot, although there is nothing new here and hardly any new information from producers. Still fun to watch!
