LOL that was awesome. I can't believe the managed to get all of the actors together for that bit. And holy shit Jaime Bamber was looking hot. I love hearing him speak in his real voice :)

I can't believe it's almost time. Just in time for the Lost break. :)

I will preface this by saying that I don't watch this show. However, after reading the last thread (first 5 or so posts) I was under the impression this show was done for good for whatever reason.

Guess not!

Just finished watching the original 2 hour Battlestar Galactica movie from 1978. Adama was pretty badass in the original.

After watching it, it's not as good as I remember it being! Still worth a look if you can grab it off the newsgroups (search Battlestar Galactica 1978 ~50 days ago) What cracked me up the most were the $10 headsets everyone had on to look high tech and the metal knobs and pushbuttons in the cockpits. I can forgive the special effects of 1978 but the story itself was a little lacking in the second half which is spent mostly on a casino planet that turns out to be a Cylon trap!

I probably did but to be honest, can't remember. I recall vividly watching Star Wars in the theater though. (both my parents fell asleep during the movie)

I do remember being all excited at Universal Studios for getting to see the Cylon attraction. It was cool!

Still the best show on TV.

Need more undercover cylons!

I thought they'd off that one lady cylon of the final five that really isn't critical to the storyline. She'll be the first to go or be uncovered.

THERE IS STILL HOPE!!!

The episode was pretty good. can't wait until next week. They certainly up-d the bar of weirdness with Starbuck's "brand new" viper. I just hope the show doesn't end up with some bullshit Christian-like resolution. The "one god" stuff is annoying enough. :P

I was kind of let down by the opener.
They had too many story lines going on. I wouldve preferred main focus on Starbuck. The Baltar stuff was annoying to me. What the hell is up with the Harem shit? I mean, God bless baltar for having all those hotties at his beckon call, but wtf was that?

And I swear, the Galactica Marines have to be the most pussified weak assed marines in the known universe.

I think the Cylons should be introduced to the Borg!

Ok not really but that would make for some interesting cross overs there.

Yeah I love this show but I am actually happy that this is their last year. Maybe they can make movies-to-dvd likes Stargate is afterwards or have a spin off or two. Or here is a thought, get back to some fighter action.

I had a thought on the Final 5:
Anyone ever consider that the 5 are man made models. They were the next step in cybernetics, but then the Tin Can cylons revolted and the war ensued. The human-esque cylon program was scratched/mothballed and covered up.
It would explain why the Cylons don't know who they are. Also how theyve been around (colonel Tigh) since the first war.
And I'm gussing there's only one copy of each of the Final 5. Not unlimited copies like the newer models. Don't know if they'll be able to ressurect.

You may be on to something Homer. I can see something like that being revealed as some kind of last resort defense for the humans against the cylons that was kept secret from everyone to protect them from being exposed.

We've seen that the cylons won't kill them in the Raptor/Raider encounter in the first episode.

TV ratings aren't that important since this is the final season but the good ratings are still a plus for anyone else thinking of making a serious Sci Fi drama in the future.
Battlestar Galactica roared back into action Friday night, as the Season 4 premiere delivered more than 2.1 million total viewers — a 19 percent increase over the January 2007 bow of Season 3.5. BSG also emerged as cable's No. 1 prime-time program in Sci Fi Channel's key 25-54 demo.

Numbers-wise, Battlestar also proved once and for all its appeal to womenfolk, scoring its best-ever female audience when 606,000 women 18-49 tuned in.

probably that number is deflated Winnow. In my case we had a party and there were 15 of us watching on one TV. Lord it's been so long, and I cant wait until this Friday when we're doing in again.

we have a local theater that plays the episodes on Fridays as well. It's one of those theaters where you can buy beer and food too. The last time i went I got plowed and scared the guy next to me.

I rewatched the first season of BSG and am on episode 6 out of 20 of second season

BSG Second Season = everyone has exactly three bloody scars on their face every episode.

Speaking of Kara, remember that she was operated on in season two after being shot and captured on Caprica while retrieving the Arrow of Apollo. It appeared the scar may have something to do with her reproductive system. That will probably factor into whatever happens in season four.

Season 4, Episode 2
[Show]
As soon as Kara/Starbuck starting ranting about knowing the way to Earth, I would have either given her a Raptor or ship to see if she could find it. They let the drama of her screaming away about it drag on too long. It never had to be about turning the whole fleet over to her directions. It's about fucking time Adama figured this out so we didn't have to sit through another episode of Kara flipping out and saying, "we're going the wrong way! I'm losing the signal!"

Another easy test would have been to jump in one direction while Kara was in the brig and observe Kara's reaction and then jump back to the same previous spot to see if she reacts the opposite way as as if the signal was getting stronger.

They dragged out Lee Adama's retirement a bit. They could have left in the drinking scene and cut the rest. We all know he'll be in a Viper again before the season ends. I prefer him as the CAG as opposed to the lawyer/politician.

Madam President is really starting to annoy me. I hope she dies. That fucking squinty smug look she gives people makes me want to cut off her meds. Her character has gone downhill IMO as I liked her much more the first few seasons.

Obviously the #8 Cylon line is fucked up. Boomer/Sharon and the whacked #8 that went against her line to side with Cylons wanted to modify the raider cylons make this line one to box up and get rid of. With the Raiders now having the ability to reason, it looks like five models of Cylons (1's, 3's, 4's 5's) are going to be wiped out, leaving the 2's 6's and 8's.

The religious chatter on the show is getting a bit much. Talk of the one god, prophecies, everyone with their "feelings" is taking over the show with little action. We're missing the standard cylon attack drama.

Still a great show but IMO, there's too much whacky stuff going on at once. You still need some standard drama elements, action, and relationship building to give the show balance.
My copy of BSG S4 E2 had:

DOCTOR WHO
NEXT FRIDAY AT 8:30|7:30C

above the huge SciFi HD logo in the bottom right of the screen the entire fucking show. Bastards. That's way too annoying. There's no need to advertise a show for an entire episode on the screen. Was everyone else's like that?

According to this http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Cylon_Models (scroll down), she's #8

There's also a footnote that the guy who plays Chief said he got to "pick" which number he is and that he picked 12.

So, if they just let the actors pick a number, there may not be anything telling about the order of models.

Didn't like the episode (S04E03). It's the worst individual BSG episode of all four seasons IMO.

On top of that, any show that has a baby crying that much loses huge points with me. So annoying. I was hoping one of the two parents would smother it.

So far, the final five storyline has been disappointing. I could give a shit about them as cylons and now their previously human characters have lost their appeal.

-Lee Adama is a wuss politician/lawyer now
-Starbuck is batshit insane, but not in an entertaining way
-The President is blah
-The internal struggle between the Cylons is lame
-Starbuck's mission and crew added nothing useful to the episode. Her crew looked like they had just watched this episode.

Season four needs to start picking up some interesting storylines soon. BSG is capable of turning it back on. I hope the writers haven't run out of ideas this early into season 4.

[Show]
Funny, I spent the last 10 minutes hoping they actually WOULD throw her out the airlock. I think I can see where and why they're going with this. They solidified Tori's place as a "villain". Previously people hated her for some reason, I think just because she took Billy's place, but now they have reason. This will also rock Tyrol hard. I think he'll probably do a downward spiral thing for a bit before turning around with a greater resolve. They could do the opposite tho, have him be Mr. Responsible for the kid from the get go.

As far as the Demetrius, I was amazed at how many of the key supporting characters were on that ship. Big things are going to happen with that storyline.

I enjoy the centurions having their own wills now. Who knows how long that will last after the little bit of fratricide that just went on. We'll be seeing the Xena models back tho, so it's obviously not over with.

Overall I was pretty impressed with the episode to be honest. The camera work was really interesting and their use of lenses and soft focus was almost another character with the performance it portrayed. I think you guys are just pissy that Callie is kaput :P

Are you kidding? I was cheering at that ending! That was long overdo in my opinion. They should have done that in season 3 when they had the chance.
[Show]
As for the baby. Did Tory keep him to herself? Second hybrid baby in cylon custody is big news. I didnt see any sign of the baby in cheifs quarters at the end. Im hoping Tory has kept the baby secret and allowed everyone to believe Cally went out the airlock with it in hand.

Why would the Cylons produce a model that is cancer prone?
Speaking of the cancer angle, why don't they just do another blood transfusion from Hera?
Speaking of Hera, is she on the Demetrius? Sharon and Helo are...would they leave their baby behind or take her on this secret dangerous mission?

I was starting to get upset at the end when Cally was going to end it all and take her son with her. That didn't sit well with me at all. I was rather happy that she got toasted at the end. I was doubting that the four were actually Cylons but after that smack Tori laid down on Cally I have no doubts now.

I think one of the Adamas will be the final Cylon.

Commander Adama spent time in that Cylon facility after getting shot down when he was young. We saw a flashback scene but that may not be the full story.

Well, the intro of the show where it says there are 12 models, yadda yadda, it says 4 are known and shows Tyrol et al, and then that 1 will be revealed. I think it'd be pretty lame for the "big reveal" to be Starbuck when they're shoving it down our throat, so it's an obvious misdirection IMO. Reason I think it's Roslin is because of the end of the 3rd season. She shares the "vision" with Athena and Caprica. She also has that reaction when they jump to the Ionian Nebula, just before the power cut out. The cancer.. who knows, but you're dealing with robots here, anything can be explained! :)

Personally, I think the Final Five cylons are very old, like 13th colony exodus old. I just think they don't remember. At least, that's my gut feeling!

Not to mention Roslin is single handedly responsible for secretly keeping Hera alive.

My guess it the "Final Five" are actually the prototypes, hence why they age and grow. Whoever created the final five didn't work out all the bugs that later resolved in the other models. They also have frailties that the other models do not, like Tigh's tendency to drink and (it could be argued) Roslin's cancer. I don't think she is one, but if she is, that's how they could explain it.
If Adama is a Cylon, it means that Leoben wasn't lying in the beginning of Season 1. Remember he told Roslin Adama was a Cylon? Leoben is mind-fucked, we all know, but he repeatedly tells us he has seen the face of God, just like D'Anna said right before she got boxed. Leoben puts on a different face when he is around the other Cylons, but when he is with humans his true colors shine out. Maybe, like D'Anna, he has seen the final five and knows that Adama is one.

Ron Moore has said that the four revealed last season are definitely Cylons. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Agree on all points! Man that was a good episode. Sometimes you have to sacrifice some lambs to get the audience worked up.

As for the final cylon. I've given up trying to figure out who it is.

Cali was batshit nuts long before she started dosing on the amphetimenes. Just look at all the crazy shit she did in prior episodes before this. Tori, evil or not, did the right thing flushing her out the airlock when it was clear that she was going to take the baby with her and I think Cali even kind of recognized it herself. I mean, if she wasnt being some kind of selfish psycho hose beast, she should have went immediately to Adama when she found out about the four, but she didn't. The first thing she did was beat the living fuck out of her husband, who was pouring his heart out to her at the time, and then grabbed junior to take him on a little space walk. If you guys want to lable Tori evil for that, I guess, but I don't see Cali as having given her much of an alternative, especially when she made her intention to kill the baby clear.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."
