Strangest Group Composition you have been in..

Post by Klydon »

With the talk of traditional groups coming back in, I took a moment to think about some of the strangest groups I have been in the past because that was what we had to work with at the moment: Had a blast with each of them.

1. Howling Stones AE group: Cleric as a DA puller, 2 mages, chanter, 2 druids.

2. All wisdom group doing Geos. 2 Clerics, 2 Shaman, 2 Druids. One of the clerics was the main tank.

3. 4 monks, druid, shaman in Dalnirs Crypt. Talk about combat spam.

4. Shaman, Druid, 2 mages, 2 necros. Fear kiting in SF..

Druid, Cleric, and 4 chanters with DC pets in Chardok. I added damage shields and STR buffs on pets. Chanters hasted them all, slowed NPCs, and cleric healed while I snared and nuked my nuts off with KEI. That group was the shiz-it.

Also in Dalnair's Crypt, I was in a Druid, 3 pally, 2 ranger group that ate that zone alive. I don't think I have ever been in a group with 3 pallies since that night.

Any number of groups when I was the puller and tank when there was a warrior in the group.

Also, I have to agree with aran. Anytime I grouped with mages I wanted to headbutt my monitor. Some people just refuse to learn no matter how blatantly wrong they are.

i levelled from like 25-45 grouping everyday with a mage (pal, rgr, mag, wiz, clc, enc) and i have to say, that some of them are awesome.

it is like necros and druids, because the class can solo so easily, some people can get levels basically being dipshits. but a well played one of any of those 3 classes is an asset.

I have been in a 4 druid and 2 necro group in UP hunting elysians. When people know how to play either of these 2 classes to the fullest, it is a sight to behold. I've seen necros do some amazing things in group situations, and as a druid I know that I've surprised many people by doing things they never thought we could do. However, for every good player, there are 3 mediocore, and 1 fucktard.

Druid (me), druid, and a necro at the giant fort in FM. The necro would pull a bunch of giants, he'd DOT up one and sick his pet on it, then the other druid and I would nuke the other ones while they chased him around. We died, A LOT, but we also made A LOT of exp!

Amen, though I might add an additional fucktard to that ratio...

Luckily, they seem to be (mostly) staying well the hell away from me lately. Even had a CT monk call his train then FD and make sure we were gonna be OK while he was training by us to the chardok zone out :)

couldn't agree with you more about quality players in those classes.

I was very sad when Xou decided he didn't want to play his necro anymore, because he was badass :) I used to just go and watch him play and would constantly be amazed.

But I understood why he wanted to quit.

Anyways, I digressed...

I was mostly just being a smartass, especially because I knew I was going to get in the first post. ;)

Currently in my guild, we have a mage named Madican, who really kicks ass.

Frankly, I just think Verant never really made the mage class as playable as it needs to be. Too difficult to control the pet. Too many restrictions due to the interface. My comment was largely based on the fact that to play a mage well, being an above average won't do, you have to be exceptional. Players of that caliber are few and far between.

Just fyi, I certainly wouldn't say I was an exceptional player. I do think I strive to be one though, and I think that's very important.

I've had moments of absolute, pure genius and have amazed even myself with a slick combination of percision skill and a little luck. Of course, these moments are usually followed by accidentialy evaccing my group out of the raid because I'm too busy patting myself on the back and not paying attention :P I guess I do that just to keep myself in check so my ego dosen't explode all over Norrath...

4 necros doing rats/some spiders in DN. It was one of the most fun times I can remember. We died OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS. We had to de lvl my mage from 48 to 45 to get enough essence emeralds :P. I would use harmshield to pull the dominators.

I'm still suprised DN isn't used more, for me it's one of the most fun zones in the game.

That was one of the fastest killing and most fun groups ive been part of in a while. We almost had 2 other camps cleared before ours respawned. My dice were hot that day too...perhaps part of the fun :).

Having a 60 char i had forgot how much fun it was to do pickup groups for exp grind and meet new people...groups like that remind me.

Best and craziest group

Post by Xanupox »

Wow I was just thinking of this old group when I woke up this morning, still makes me chuckle.

I think we even had 1 level _50_ in the group at the time. Mostly though they were from 42-49 .. 5 Clerics that is. We also had 1 SK to take the damage, but he could still undead nuke.

Was in the Exec Room in Guk. This was the mid summer of 1999. Who was there?

Xanupox 44 Cleric
Yazon 44 Cleric
Bandog 43 Cleric
Some Dorf Cleric 50
Some Human Cleric 48

Oh yeah the SK, I think was Dalmoth if I recall correctly. It was just an undead nuke fest, Urd Ghoul Wizard, pop.. dead loot. What beats it all though... we let the SK die even with 5 clerics in the group, someone said.. Dalmoth was slain by a Zol Ghoul Knight...."I saw that coming"

Last night:

5 epic druids with KEI in ME. One left, and we invited a Necro and a bard to fill us out.

Fucking sick I tell you. SICK! We had 8 mobs root/doting at one time. We would've had more, but ran out of pulls;) The only mana Icast was Winged Death. Everything else was clickable.

Murr I remember that group in velks...you kept 10k'ing while pulling

i remember there being a shaman, and somebody else...they whined OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS best I remember

I had some hilarious pulls in velks that way. Falling off, getting a heal standing in zone using z axis and then running all the way back up with who knows how many spiders.

It was hard to run back up laughing at myself so hard from falling all the way down.

Me 60 Shaman
Ziusudra 60 SK
Stabzwell 60 Rogue.

Doing Disco 2 in sebilis, keeping the place spotless clean, including Brogg area, Library and necromancer room ( D1 wasn't happy hehe ).

Or same group breaking and cleaning crypt over and over, with the empror being a dick and not giving me my fekken malo. Too bad neither of those two really play anymore :(.

Some other fun groups I had is Me and a 60 mage, with my pet maintanking (for some reason the mobs hated jabober more then the mage's backstabbing critter, go figure), great xp.

Also fun group, full melee group, in the mid 40's my monk, a few rangers and pallies and rogues, went non-stop in DL for 2 hours with pally as main healer, and he only medded the short time in between pulls.
