Hipocracy in high end guilds

Post by Firestarter »

I have been in and seen several different high end guilds on a few servers and i must say they are basically all the same in the regards to general policies, politics and goings-on in and out of guild chat. The foremost thing I cannot understand is these guilds propensities to slice their OWN dicks off by the way they treat their applicants:

(fuck you, get your elemental flags from other guilds THEN you can APPLY to us)

From the officers: DO as I SAY, NOT as I DO (two-faced hypocrites).

We will abuse the shit out of our clerics, blame them for all of our shortcomings and treat them like cat litter until they get so tired of playing with us others will have to be RECRUITED just to play them on raids (yes, Im in a "raiding" guild that is at least elemental enabled).

Im better than you.....I can cast abusive rubbish-strewn language at you and you are not only expected to take it, you are actually required to like it AND if you say ANYTHING about it you will be INSTANTLY labeled a whiner.

We want more cleric applicants to abuse but will not lift as much as a soiled ass hair to get them flagged and ready to raid.

DKP "surprises" that are not mentioned nor spoke of by any guild member or laid out on any boards for anyone to see.....just when you thought you had more points than anyone else to purchase those new legs of furious might.....BAM!

Guild members strut around like peacocks with waxed feathers shouting and spewing garbage at all not like them. Yeah, every guild is full of its jerks, lame asses, dumb asses and no loads and the one I am in is no different. If one wants to keep raiding and progressing, one must at least make it appear they care about prospective healer applicants and not scare them away with trivial bullshit and indifference (until we "need them" that is). I simply cannot believe some of the "holier than thou" attitudes some of people in some of these guilds have.....

I'm assuming you're a cleric, and therfor will state the following:

You're THE most requested class in the game, you have one of the highest burnout rates of any other class, guilds will bend over assbackwards to recruit you.. but they expect you to get basic flags on your own and you don't get everything you want when you want it and you're throwing a pissyfit because of it?

Let me know if I've got that wrong.

Let me get this out of the way. Jackass.

Now do my diatribe/questionnaire.

Are you having fun? If not quit.

Do you have real-life friends in the guild? If not quit.

Do you have the 8+ hours to spend on a raid? If not quit.

Do you enjoy playing a Cleric? (I know I do). Delete him, reroll another race. I hear Warriors are popular.

You see, being in a large raiding guild (I imagine) means you are competing against other guilds as well as the game. So everyone NEEDS to have a 'better than you' complex to be successful. Its high stress, high time sink an high reward.

These guys do not have the time to get you your flags. No time to camp that rare drop for your shawl and no time to help you hit 65. understand that its not personal, you are just not as good as them.

How do I know? I'm level 61, have no time to raid, have no flags and look for groups continiously. I don;t have the dedication, time or merits to go to the places these others go. I'm not bitter, I just play the game within my own capabilities.

Now go have fun, and if not, then fuck off. I can't help you.

yeah there are some guilds that claim to be on DKP but still will show favoritism towards certain members twinks or whatever when it comes to loot (from what i've heard...i dont care enough to verify...not my problem).

the leaders of those guilds are of course gimps, and it sucks to be a part of that.

but if you got elemental flagged to join that guild, you can still go to many other guilds.

and i'm calling bullshit on you being in multiple high end guilds on multiple servers.

this is your first one, it's OK. you are in the 6th or 7th best guild on the server (or were), and if you don't suck you have many other options to probably join, especially if you are a cleric.

The teasing really frustrates her too, Sarge. She told me to tell you to wait until it's full-grown before showing it to her again. In it's current state it'd be like throwing a hot dog down a hallway.

Wow, welcome to the high end of the game. You want to play at this level you have to swallow some of the BS egos and attitudes.

I don’t know a single Elemental + guild that will drop and run to flag all of its recruits, at the same time they all require specific flags to make it out of the probation period or even be considered an app. Flag mobs are killed daily by many guilds and to my knowledge weather the guilds like each other or not there are lots of back flag deals set up between them. If the apps cant get them self-flaged all the way to elementals with in 2 weeks they simply are not trying to. Asking a guild if you can tag along, even as an anon gimp much less a temp tag from an elemental guild, 90% of the time they will let you especially a cleric. No one will hand you the end game, you must do your part to earn it.

As for the DKP stuff, that in and of it self is a monster that each guild has to deal with (that uses it).

he does have a point although he fucking whines about it too much.

clerics are easily, _easily_ the gayest class to play in EQ. you can play the entire game all night in an 8 hour raid with your index finger and be the most effective cleric in the game. you can loot and wear the best items around and be slightly more effective than some shithead still in his gold quest armor. nobody fucking appreciates you.

why did he get banned? he didn't mention anyone or any guild specifically.

For a rot Cleric, sure - yeah, count - click - repeat and adjust for any tank changes. For a group or the puller you need to pay attention, use the right spell or skill at the right time. Yes, CH chains are gay and doing one for a long time is a shitty experience, but no shittier than any other repetitive task (like CC) - if you slip, the whole raid gets fucked.

I love our clerics (the ones that play). There's a huge difference between a_cleric09 and a well-played cleric and it shows. Additionally, some people can box a cleric very, very well and others cannot.

Well, the attitudes of large groups throw me off too.

Seriously, large guilds often suck...BUT it's really the fault of the game.

I'm sorry but requiring groups of more than say 16 people for anything is a huge turn off. When you get groups of very big sizes, the assholes seem to rise to the top. (Yes there are exceptions.) So basically, yeah, like most people said. Suck it up, or quit. Don't get me wrong, quitting is not a bad choice.

Though I like a good banning more than most people, and though TheMachine is my hero... this guy is less anon than say, NEO or mukyluk, and neither of them were banned... =\

Ban all you want. Ban me if you want, but I think it would be less of a big deal if there were a bit more consistency. =\
